I DON’T MIND POLITICS It’s the Politicians I Have a Problem With…

Blog Post 1 - Pollitics

Actually I have a problem with the political process that extends well beyond individual politicians or even political parties.  I am addressing no other nation’s politics but that of my own, the United States of America.  I love the humorous but deadly serious quote from Ronald Reagan, “It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession.  I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.”

Politics is a necessary part of a Republic with a Constitutional Representative Democracy.  Politics is described and defined as, “the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power.”  Without the political process we would have a totalitarian dictatorship or complete anarchy not a Constitutional Republic and in many ways we have at best an Oligarchy and are moving rapidly toward a more totalitarian dictatorship and that saddens me as an American citizen and veteran.

Blog Post 1 - Republic

Most are familiar with the story of Benjamin Franklin emerging from Independence Hall in Philadelphia and being asked, “Dr. Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?”  Mr. Franklin’s reply should have long been a clarion call for diligence on the part of the public and politicians but for long decades has fallen on deaf ears.  He said, “A Republic, madam, if you can keep it.”   The founders hammered out the best system they could conceive and I personally believe were guided by the divine hand of providence.  They also understood that if WE THE PEOPLE failed to remain diligent and professionals were allowed to hijack the process with elitist oligarchical mindsets the Republic could not survive.  The euphoria of this new found independence and the prosperity of successive generations as well as the enjoyment of personal liberties by the citizens muted their warnings.  We are paying an almost unpayable price for that failure.

Blog Post 1 - History

The infamous quote attributed to George Santayana is worthy of consideration and remembrance.  He said, “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.”  The original quote is more likely, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”  Sadly, in 21st Century America we are on a “damn the torpedoes full steam ahead” approach to sanitizing history to make it politically correct and thereby deemed acceptable.  To ignore history or remove certain elements of our past from the record does not change the past nor does it advance the future.  If we are to advance as a civilization, maintain our Republic and insure our Constitutional guarantees, liberties, rights and privileges are held intact we dare not make that mistake of politicizing history.  If we are to benefit from the mistakes of the past we must know them.

Blog Post 1 - Ploy Ticks

Politics as some have humorously but often accurately defined is:  The word is derived from two words.  Poly = many and Ticks = blood sucking parasites.  Therefore according to this definition politics and politicians exist to drink the blood of the citizens making them creatures of the dark and even vampire world.  We live in a very dark world controlled by corruption, the pursuit of graft, greed and power.  Politicians frequently sell their votes like prostitutes sell their bodies and we the people are the victims largely because we ‘trusted’ the politicians to protect and defend the constitution and ‘abdicated’ our responsibilities.  The latter has been, at least partially, because it either did not impact us personally or in our bottom line or we deemed the task too daunting and sat silently as the Republic crumbled.  Edmund Burke had it correct saying, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

The Bible addresses this in Galatians 6:9 by saying that if we do not faint or quit in doing what is good and right we will reap the harvest of those efforts.  I have long told those who would listen, “The only way the devil can win in our lives is for us to quit.”  We have a hope!  America was established as a Democratic Constitutional Republic rooted in the principles of God’s Word.  The founders provided a system of checks and balances and repeatedly warned that the true caretakers of the Republic were THE CITIZENS.

So politics does not bother me the greater problem are professional elitist politicians and an apathetic populace.  I am tired of the blood sucking parasites draining the life out of my Republic and issue the call to “Take It Back!”

God bless you and God bless America!

SOBERING REALITY – I CAN’T CHANGE THE WORLD…

Blog Post 2 - Change 1

In simple fact, I can’t really even change myself in my own strength much less the world.  I can exercise self-control.  I can work to present a better image.  I can identify the kinks in my armor and work to hammer them out.  There is much I can do to present myself a better person and I can work diligently to inform and encourage others to DO BETTER but the real change is in the heart and I cannot change that, only God can!

Some will reject that because they are not religious and I understand the rejection but ask, “How much of your surroundings can you change by willing them to change or worrying?”  Jesus addresses this in Matthew 6 and gives us the solution.  I am convinced that much of our effort today is misdirected albeit well-intentioned.  We do what we do with a desire to reclaim our rogue government, reestablish our constitutional liberties and rights, and return our Republic to her guiding principles.  It is a noble effort and one that cannot be abandoned but are we being as successful as we would like?  I can answer that for myself using one word NO!

I have been praying for our leaders and that is a biblical mandate.  I have been praying for my nation and that is right.  I have been praying for the lost and that is biblical.  I have been praying for my own heart and that too is directed in scripture.  At times, it almost appears that God is turning a deaf ear to our cries for America and maybe He is.  If He is then it is imperative to find out why and what He desires from us.  (I believe that deep inside we know.)

America has, in my view, lost its moral mooring on numerous fronts.  We have taken steps to evict God from anything public or supported by tax-payer dollars while using those funds to support abortion and things that are diametrically opposed to God’s written word.  We allow the followers of Islam to pray on public grounds but ban Christians that privilege.  We endorse sexual behavior the Bible and past societies deem deviant while attempt to legislate those in opposition to not just accept but to help facilitate.  Deceit and following the philosophy of ‘the end justifies the means’ are acceptable norms but ethics, integrity, honesty and personal responsibility are ridiculed.  We have become a society where we call evil good and good evil.  Some have said that if God does not judge America He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.  I do not believe God has to apologize to anyone and He is incredibly longsuffering.  If you recall He was willing to spare those cities if TEN RIGHTEOUS could be found.  I am confident there are more than TEN in America but our righteousness are as filthy rags in comparison to Him.

Blog Post 2 - Change 2

Is there anything we can do?  YES!  The Bible gives us numerous directives including 2 Chronicles 7:14 is a call to repentance, humbling ourselves and prayer.  Although we are not islands the only person we are truly responsible for other than our children while in our care is OURSELVES.  Therefore, if I want to change the world I need to take steps to change me.  I personally am devotedly a follower of Christ, a believer in the legitimacy of the Constitution of these United States of America and patriotic.  I labor to inform, identify and warn of dangers individually, nationally, and spiritually but is there more I can do?  YES!

My heart has been directed to pray for the Church and the Church Leaders in a new way.  I am praying that a door will be open for them to advance the Gospel but I am now praying that God will give them boldness and willingness to STAND FOR HIS TRUTH and RIGHT.  I am praying that God will drag them into the political process even if kicking and screaming.  I am not asking that God make them politicians but that God cause them to have the heart to declare truth to those following them.  Truth whether convenient or inconvenient!  Truth whether it fits Political Correctness!  TRUTH!  I ask God to send men and women to the pulpits throughout the land with TRUTH.  I do not ask them to be Republican, Democrat, Independent or Libertarian but I ask them to be TELLERS OF TRUTH.

 Blog Post 2 - Change

If lives matter than speak for life!  If honesty matters then speak against dishonesty and for honesty!  If integrity matters then expose the lack thereof and encourage honesty, ethics, personal responsibility and commitment.  If Freedom matters then labor to see men free!  I ask every Christian leader, every Christian and every person to consider David’s Prayer and make it the objective or your heart.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.”  (Psalm 51:10 Amplified)

I LOVE AMERICA and desire her restoration to the founding principles upon which she was birthed as revealed in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.  I believe that if we return to those principles the propitious smiles of Heaven will be upon her again.

God bless you and God bless America!

IF ONLY THE FOUNDING FATHERS COULD SPEAK IN PERSON TODAY…

Blog Post 1 - Constitution

Wait, they do and are!  They speak through the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights and the volumes they wrote and have been written about them.  Their words are timeless and although it is sometimes difficult to truly know what a person was thinking when they said or did something it is not impossible.  In our Politically Correct World today in America the Constitution and Bill of Rights have been effectively shredded and altered, without constitutional amendments and ratification by the states.  That is a tragedy and one that I am quite sure our Founders would be up in arms over.  Thomas Jefferson, in particular, would be calling for watering the Tree of Liberty and even James Madison would be irate.

History and Colonial History comprised a significant portion of my studies in college and as I pursued a degrees in history, psychology and theology.  The two areas I focused on were Civil War and Colonial History for they both fascinated me and the more I delved into them the more I realized that most of us had misconceptions and were largely uninformed.  I sought and seek to be armed with knowledge and truth regardless of what that truth revealed.  I have not studied history from a position of preconception.  I have a hunger for truth.  I study the Bible in the same way and with even more passion.  I have never been satisfied with “Because I said so” as an answer to my question.  I want to know who, what, when, where, why and even how if I can and that pursuit has altered my thinking on many things as I progressed in life.

Blog Post 1 - Amendment

Let’s consider the First Amendment as one example of a need for the Founding Fathers to speak to us today.  This Amendment was written out of recognition that the Constitution was not explicit enough with regard to the Federal Government’s involvement in Religion.  Yes, it covers much more but that was a strong key element in the Amendment.  It was borne out of a desire and understanding that there had to be safeguards to prevent the Federal Government from establishing a National Religion.  It was more than a reaction to the British having a National Church it was possibly more directed at the situation among the several states at the time.

Life in the colonies was vastly different from state to state and each colony had its own official religion.  In so doing, they recognized a particular Christian denomination as the official state religion and afforded it tax-payer funds in support.  The religious communities throughout the several states feared that the denomination of another state would be named as the National Church and therefore came to understand the danger as well as a desire for self-preservation.  Out of this concern the First Amendment was written and ratified stating that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”  Simply, the national government was prohibited from setting up any particular denomination as the official religion of America.  They did not stop there but advanced further that Congress would make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion or abridging the Freedom of Speech.

Blog Post 1 - Religion

In England if one disagreed with the National Religion they had to meet in homes or in secrecy for they were not allowed to freely express their contrasting beliefs.  The First Amendment did not prohibit the individual states from establishing a state religion as they already had done so.  But, the Freedom Movement caught wind and grew legs as is evidenced in the impassioned speech of Patrick Henry on June 12, 1776 in the discussion of the Virginia Declaration of Rights.

“That religion, or the duty which we owe to our Creator, and the manner of discharging it, can be directed ONLY BY REASON AND CONVICTION, not by force or violence; and therefore all men are equally entitled to the free exercise of religion, according to the dictates of conscience; and that it is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity towards each other.”

George Washington said that “government is force” and Patrick Henry recognized that and cried out for understanding that religion MUST BE a matter of conscience and conviction, not government edict or force.  The First Amendment Guarantees each citizen the right to FREELY EXPRESS their opinions WITHOUT FEAR OF PUNISHMENT.  It was common for ministers to preach on the moral issues of the day and were the government allowed to control speech they would be in violation of the law and barred, banned or imprisoned.  Freedom is only hated by tyrants religious or otherwise. The idea that the founders wanted God and all things religious evicted from government policies and deliberations is not defensible for it is counter to the documents they presented, their words and writings.  They wanted to prevent government from infringing on religion not to prevent religion from influencing lives and national policy.  They believed that as we acknowledged God and His precepts living morally and rightly would our Republic be preserved.  Today we evict God, ban the Christian religion and have established national thought and speech police to mandate what we can and cannot say, think and do.  That is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

WE MUST NOT allow our Constitutional Rights to be destroyed.  The Founders have spoken and they insisted that the Federal Government butt out of religion and never infringe on our right of free speech.     God bless you and God bless America!

THE OBAMA UTOPIA – – His Version of a New and Improved Fundamentally Transformed AMERICA…

Blog Post 3 - Obama Utopia

For seven years I have watched the systematic and consistent assault on the United States Constitution by this president and his followers and it has disturbed and angered me.  In the very beginning of his reign (his apparent thoughts regarding his term in office) he and his wife have trashed America, talked down American Excellence and consistently apologized for what they apparently view an evil empire called the United States of America.  That could cause one to believe that he wants to completely destroy this nation but is that his objective?

I believe that he fully believes his rhetoric and narcissistic view of himself that he is the savior of the planet and commissioned by all that is divine to right the perceived wrongs of this nation from its inception.  He is so filled with his distaste for America and most of the West it cannot be hidden.  However, I have come to believe that his objective may not be the TOTAL DESTRUCTION of America but, as he promised, the “fundamental transformation” of her.  The only question is “transformed” into what?

He, like most communist and socialist before they taste the power of rule believe the propaganda of a utopian world in which all is equal and everyone shares and shares alike.  The problem is those in charge do not want to share, do not believe they are required to share and therefore live as royal potentates while their subjects live in abject squalor.  There is no remorse or twinge of conscience over that disparity for they believe that it is through their superior intellect, morality and knowledge of what is right and best they have earned respect and worship of we lesser mortals and it is their divine right to reap the benefits at our expense.

Blog Post 3 - Prateorian Guard

He like most leftist believes that the United States is and has been an arrogant nation needing to be taken down a peg or two and they are diligently working to accomplish that.  They believe ‘redistribution of wealth’ will create equality and provide a certain reparation for the gross evil of those who risked, earned, developed, created and grew businesses and wealth.  In short, they view capitalism as the evil enemy and a target to be destroyed.  They fully believe that government is god and that only government can create wealth, jobs, a stable economy and a utopia and therefore anyone who is conservative or a constitutionalist is a mortal enemy and must be destroyed without remedy.  For them, defeating constitutional conservatism at the polls is not enough the individuals and organizations so identified must be eviscerated, annihilated and completely eradicated from existence or forced into submission.

They see in the demise of the Republic as it was created a new Phoenix rising from the ashes and a New American Utopia established in its stead.  They seem to truly believe that America was founded by evil, selfish, hate filled white men.  The amazing thing is some of them have amassed fortunes from the very system they seek to destroy and are white but still they advance that agenda religiously.  (It is a religion).  They work in conjunction with the A.C.L.U., Moveon.org, and the Center for American Progress, Media Matters and other leftist organizations.  They also join with Islamic groups such as CAIR and seek to use America’s freedoms as weapons against this great nation.

Blog Post 3 - New and Improved

Although I believe that Barack Obama and his followers want to solidify and create a Democrat Party that is so overpowering it is undefeatable I do not believe he cares as much about the party as his legacy and place in history and his ascension to Grand Potentate of the Universe.  Is he that naïve, narcissistic, ideological and delusional?  YES!  Is he destroying America?  YES!  If another Democrat is elected will his agenda be advanced to the point of no return?  YES!

The grand tragedy is that there are millions who do not believe he wants to REMAKE America and millions who agree with his antipathy for America.  If you listen you will hear the voices like Jeremiah Wright ‘condemning’ America and becoming almost giddy when she suffers at the hands of those who want to destroy us.

This next election cycle is about far more than the White House or which party controls Congress it is about the Constitution, the Republic and Freedom.  If we do not evict those who refuse to stand firm constitutionally and elect people with patriotic courage, integrity and dogged determination to see America restored we have lost.  God can deliver us if we fall on our faces repenting and praying.  If we sit on our hands in our ivory towers and continue to declare that Christians cannot be involved we have lost.

America the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave once a reality is in danger of becoming a memory.  What say you?  Will you stand for America and do what must be done to see her restored?

God bless you and God bless America!

CONSTITUTIONAL IGNORANCE AND APATHY…

Blog Post 2 - Constitution

I believe we are in the condition and situation we find ourselves today in America politically for a number of reasons and a consideration high on the list is the fact that most do not know what the Constitution says and millions do not care.  Ignorance about our system of government, constitution, rights, liberties and the founding guidelines only leads to professional politicians, elitist and activist taking over and ‘fundamentally transforming’ the Republic that we were given.

I guess the response to Benjamin Franklin’s declaration when asked what kind of government they had decided upon has been answered.  He said, “A Republic if you can keep it.”  We can and could but apparently have not and will not and it is largely due to Constitutional ignorance and apathy.

With some of the rulings of the SCOTUS, executive actions or orders by the President and failure to act by Congress suggests they do not know the Constitution either.  The U.S. Constitution is incredibly clear on the division of power within the framework of the Federal Government.  They anticipated that each branch would valiantly and vigorously defend its rightful place thereby maintaining the balance of power and proper checks and balances.  Today we see a blurring of the lines of division and a Congress that has surrendered its place and become powerless and useless.  We see an executive branch that has taken upon itself to disregard Article I, Section 1 which clearly states “ALL legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”    Section 7 declares, “ALL Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives: but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.”  This President has written legislation via Executive Fiat and the Supreme Court has rewritten legislation by its rulings.  Both are violations of the Constitution but we have a Congress that fails to protest and the SCOTUS has ruled if Congress doesn’t protest it is okay to do so.  Isn’t that comforting?  When we elected those who are either ignorant of their Constitutional powers and responsibilities we have virtual or literal tyranny.

Blog Post 2 - Enough

It seems that Congress, the President and Supreme Court missed Constitution 101 in which the First Amendment was discussed.  The part of “free exercise of religion and the government not abridging the freedom of speech” they apparently missed or dismissed.  But of course there are those that believe the Constitution is an evolving document and whatever those in power deem it to mean is what it means rather than taking it as written and allowing it to guide our governance.

I am not sufficiently versed in Constitutional Law and am not an attorney to attempt to teach it but I am a citizen who is concerned as to the direction our nation has taken over the past few years or decades.  I have read and avail myself to as much information as possible on the Constitution and Bill of Rights because I believe that in knowing I am better prepared to serve my country, protect my rights and help my fellow man.  As a Christian I recognize the need to know and rightly interpret the Bible for it is our guide of faith and practice.  As a follower of Christ I accept my responsibility to pray for those entrusted with leading this nation.  If I know the biblical truths and principles we are to live by and am familiar with the Constitution of these United States I can pray more effectively for the individuals and about the policies advanced.  Those that are contrary to the precepts and principles of God’s Word I pray for their demise and pray for the success of those that are in harmony with God’s Word.

Blog Post 2 -

Hillsdale College continues to offer FREE courses on the Constitution and I would recommend getting a copy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights and study those documents.  If you have the time and interest one of the online courses on the basic understanding of the American Constitution would likely be very beneficial.  If we, through ignorance or apathy, allow the rewriting of our laws, rendering meaningless our Constitution and the fundamental transformation of America into something other than the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave we will all pay the price.  That price will be more far reaching than those giddy over their perceived victories or anyone can imagine.  Those seeking to ‘transform’ America know what each erosion of our founding document accomplishes and so should we.

It is time to awaken from our slumber, become informed and if we are informed we will become involved and then and only then do we have hope of KEEPING THE REPUBLIC.  What will your decision be?   God bless you and God bless America!
