I AGREE WITH THE RIGHT and THE LEFT…

Of course, my title needs an explanation so before you blast me and call me a name, let me tell you what and to what extent I agree with both sides.  It is regarding the Immigration System we now have.  It is broken!  Both sides assert that, and I agree.  However, I do not agree with the designs and desires of the Left to scuttle it and throw open the doors to one and all.  I also do not agree with the plans of some on the Right that want to ignore the illegality of those here illegally and grant them full amnesty and citizenship.  But, I do agree the system is broken and must be fixed!

I also must ask, “What kind of lunacy produced a random chance immigration system versus a merit-based system?”  There was a time in our history when we insisted that people coming have something to offer and possess a desire and willingness to assimilate into our culture and society.  They became Americans, not hyphenated Americans but Americans and were proud to be identified as Americans.  When did that ship sail?

Who, with a smidgen of rational reason, would oppose admitting people into our country who would make America better?  You guessed it, the Democrats.  Why?  That is another question entirely and one that I’m not sure can satisfactorily be answered with “Votes” but that is a major part of their ploy or plot.

The 1965 Immigration Act was a terrible idea and although it was sold as a boon for America and wrapped in a shroud of compassion it was destructive and has done great damage to our nation.  You may disagree but that’s how I see it.  We have pushed to the head of the line those with relatives here.  Most of them are from Third World countries with virtually no marketable skills.  I’m not saying there is anything wrong with them, but their advancement to the head of the line eliminates many skilled and some of the finest minds in the world who want to become Americans.  Is that a good policy?

We developed a lottery system and 50,000 each year are admitted simply because of random chance, they won the lottery.  Again, many are unskilled, and some are adversarial to our Republic and System of Government, but they won the prize and are allowed entrance regardless of who they are and where they are from.  Is that a good policy?

President Trump’s Immigration Plan has three stated core principles that I agree with.  A nation without borders is not a nation.  A nation without laws is not a nation.  A nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation.  At least, not a Free Constitutional Republic.  It may be a despotic tyrannical regime but not a Free Republic as America is supposed to be.

When politicians talk about “Immigration Reform” they are generally talking about amnesty, cheap labor, and open borders.  The President’s proposed plan focuses on America and what will make America better.  I support that desire.  I support securing the border because the influx of illegals which include some people of nefarious character must be addressed.  Allowing people with needed skills, including doctors and scientists should be viewed by both sides as a win-win.  Sadly, the Democrats have announced that the proposal is “D.O.A.” and will never see the light of day in the House of Representatives.  That needs to change and can change in November 2020 if the Patriots and lovers of America and Freedom unite and show them the door.

The statistical data of the influx of dangerous people entering illegally and through our broken immigration system is irrefutable.  The Government Accountability Office, in 2011, reported that there were 3 million arrests attached to the incarcerated alien population which included tens of thousands of violent assaults, rapes, and murders.  Yet, the Democrats want Open Borders, how is that good policy?

The President’s Plan would triple the number of ICE Officers, which we need to handle the invasion that is occurring.  The President of the ICE Officers testified before Congress that there are approximately 5,000 ICE Officers handling the majority of ICE’s immigration enforcement.  He compared that to the Los Angeles Police Department that has approximately 10,000 officers.  5,000 ICE Officers cover 50 States, Puerto Rico and Guam and yet the major cities in America have police forces much larger covering a much smaller area.  How is that good policy?

The President’s Plan would implement and fine-tune a Nationwide e-verify system to help protect jobs for unemployed Americans.  There would be a mandatory return of all criminals back to their country of origin.  Since 2013 the Obama Administration released 76,000 aliens with criminal convictions from custody.  What kind of sense does that make?

There would be a drastic reduction or elimination of the incredibly bad policy of ‘catch and release’.  There would be the defunding of sanctuary cities.  Hallelujah!  There would be enhanced penalties for anyone overstaying their visa. There would be an end to the unconstitutional ‘birthright citizenship’.  Even Harry Reid is on the record as saying that “no sane country” would give automatic citizenship to children of illegal immigrants.  I’ve dealt with this before, so I won’t pick up that laborious task of explaining how it is unconstitutional.

We have many problems that must be addressed, and I am thankful that this President has the intestinal fortitude to ignore the prevailing winds of political polling and address real issues with real solutions.  Anytime you have a broken system, the solution is seldom easy or without pain.  We have issues regarding our spending, the size of government, Social Security, the Veteran’s Administration, Free Speech, Infrastructure, Border Security, National Security, and this issue Immigration that MUST be dealt with.  Doing nothing and kicking the can down the road not only damages our Republic it endangers its survival.

God bless you and God bless America!
