INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY…

I want to address something that I’ve been watching, as have most of you, for some time. That is the designed transformation of America into something completely other than what most of us grew up in and the founders of this nation envisioned. We are watching the redesign of America into “total dependency” upon government and the “enslavement” of its citizens into “servitude” to the will, wishes, and whims of those in power. That is the America that people like Barak Obama, the progressive, socialist, statist, elitist, and left-wing ideologues desire and are giving their all to achieve. If they are successful, we will lose this great country and frankly I’m not sure we haven’t. It is my view that the Bible, the Constitution, and morality demand that we return to “individual accountability” and “personal responsibility”. We owe it to our children, future generations, ourselves, and God, to return to the very principles upon which America was established. Yet, in public institutions of learning, the “so-called” main stream media, and this administration the exact opposite ideology thrives.

Let me use a passage from the Bible first and then get to some other facts and factors regarding our present dilemma:

2 Thessalonians 3:11-15 – “Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and wasting time meddling in other people’s business. 12 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we appeal to such people — no, we command them: Settle down and get to work. Earn your own living. 13 And I say to the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. 14 Take note of those who refuse to obey what we say in this letter. Stay away from them so they will be ashamed. 15 Don’t think of them as enemies, but speak to them as you would to a Christian who needs to be warned.” NLT

The apostle Paul viewed “individual accountability” and “personal responsibility” of utmost importance as is clearly defined in the above passage. Yet, today we are seeing “Occupy Wall Street” protestors who clearly characterize the opposite view. They, at least those I’ve heard speak, blame corporations, all people of wealth, and virtually everything else for any problems they have. They want the government to virtually rob those who have been successful and become their mythical “Robin Hood” making the wealth of others theirs. It would seem to me that they need to hear the words of Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:11 and grow up – “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.” ESV

My upbringing demanded that I take personal responsibility for my actions in everything. I was not allowed to make excuses, blame my circumstances or anything else for my situation. I was to keep my word, do my job, resist the temptation to complain and whine, and dig or fight my way out of whatever I was facing. A concept conspicuously absent in today’s society. It is not a requirement that you become a “victim” even if you have been “victimized”. It is a choice and personal responsibility enables, no demands, that you choose accountability. The government has become the biggest “enabler” of those who choose to abdicate “personal responsibility” and “individual accountability”.

Let me offer a few examples of what I am referring to. This is certainly not an exhaustive list. First, I’ve read numerous accounts of people who acknowledged that because of the government mandated credit easing, before the housing crash, that they took on more “debt” in the form of “mortgages” than they could afford. They did it because somehow they felt “entitled” to have more than they could reasonable or responsibly afford. Many of them now expect the government to step in and pay for their blatant abuse of the “easy credit” situation. Oh, I do not let government off the hook or the individual who did it because they could. My point is if “personal responsibility” and “individual accountability” had been the prevailing mentality, this crisis would not have occurred no matter what the government mandated. Responsible people would have made the choice to live within their means. I take no pleasure in seeing anyone lose their home, but do not believe that hard-working, tax paying citizens are responsible to pay for someone else’s error in judgment. That approach only perpetuates the problem rather than provide a solution. Although an American dream of home ownership is not a bad thing if you cannot afford one you should not incur the indebtedness for that dream’s fulfillment. Likewise, you should also only purchase what you can afford. If you cannot afford a Cadillac don’t purchase one. If you can only afford a $50,000 home, do not purchase a $250,000 one. When you default it not only affects you but the rest of us as well.

The welfare system in America has gotten completely out of control and grown to an extent that we are nationally bankrupt. It arose from a flawed ideology and encourages all who will adopt the philosophy, to defer “accountability” and “responsibility” and develop an “entitlement mentality.” I’m talking about those who, now generationally, have become “slaves to entitlements” and believe it is their “right” to live off those who laboriously strive to achieve and attain success. Additionally, the Small Business Administration is complicit in this through the SBA’s Section 8(a) program. This was supposedly a benevolent adoption of a policy that would enable “disadvantaged minorities” to succeed even if they could not perform the work or produce the desired product and compete in the free market. This program has encouraged all Section 8(a) companies to cease striving to attain legitimate status and truly compete by providing a product, at a price that would be desired by the purchasing public. Instead it encourages those companies to throw off the shackles of “accountability” and “responsibility” and depend on the government’s gravy train, develop a “victim” mentality, and continue at the expense of others who actually do the work and provide the product.

We are in an economic crisis that has and will continue to destroy lives, businesses, and dreams of those who are “responsible” and “accountable.” The present course and ideology of those in power, especially in the Whitehouse, has only one possible ending – FAILURE! We can recover but it will be difficult and painful for everyone. It will require government to “get out of the way” and demand that everyone take “responsibility” for their actions and become “accountable.” As individuals we MUST begin accepting “personal responsibility” for our actions in all areas of life. If a business is not competitive or makes bad lending decisions, it must assume “responsibility” and become “accountable”. We cannot allow an individual, company, or government to avoid or evade “personal responsibility” and “individual accountability.” I am responsible for my decisions. Corporations as well as Congress must assume responsibly for their decisions and WE THE PEOPLE must hold them “accountable.”

God holds each of us “responsible” and “accountable” for our actions. If we “repent” of our sins and “accept” His provision of pardon we gain access into His family. That, however, does not mean that we are no longer “accountable” for our actions and free to do whatever we please with impunity. We WILL give answer for our actions and most of us know what it’s like to endure the hardships of bad choices spiritually, economically, and relationally. Truly we do “reap what we sow”. I do not see our current direction, as a nation, reversing UNTIL the concept of “personal responsibility” is reestablished. Then, and only then, will we see government move toward that which the founders envisioned – small, less restrictive, and less invasive. That’s the America I dream of having again. Paul’s words in Galatians 6:5 are applicable here, “…we are each responsible for our own conduct.” Or as stated in the ESV – “each will have to bear his own load.”

Nehemiah accomplished restoring Jerusalem because the people were willing to assume “personal responsibility” for the work. No one expected someone to do it for them they stepped up and determined to do their part. The Bible offers numerous accounts of success, restoration, and renewal through people becoming “personally responsible” and “accountable”. History is replete with examples of this concept. I know what it’s like to experience “victimization” but my refusal to become a “victim” allowed me to attain renewal and restoration in my spiritual, personal, and financial life. I am not wealthy and there are many things that I do not have that I would enjoy. However, I do not expect you to provide them for me. I have made bad business decisions and even today am paying for them. I’ve made bad spiritual decisions and I and others experienced the accompanying repercussion. I’ve made bad personal and relational decisions and the consequences were not always pleasant but I “earned” them and while I have and do enjoy “God’s Mercy” I have accepted “personal responsibility” for my actions. I owned them and stepped up to the bar and became “accountable”.

Will America be restored? I truly believe the answer is “Yes”. When? I do not know! What will it cost? For some of us, everything! My core belief in God, personal responsibility, and individual accountability drives me to seek restoration of “honesty” and “integrity” as the basic foundational philosophy of society. I do not mean that I believe in an Earthly Utopia where “everyone” does the right thing and “no one” is morally or ethically bankrupt. Just like sin’s existence in the world, there will always be some who will desire to remain “dependent” rather than “independent” of government sustenance. The “victim” mentality will never be fully eradicated. That element will maintain the belief that it is “entitled” to live off the labors of others. America would never have been established had that been the prevailing mentality of the colonist. Therefore, if we want our country back we will have to become willing to “pay the price” of restoration. We will have to become “personally responsible” and “individually accountable”. We MUST turn our hearts and lives back to God. We MUST determine that we will resist the temptation to take the easy road and dare to face the “lion in the street”, holding our elected officials accountable for their decisions. We MUST exercise our right, responsibility, and privilege and VOTE! The only question is, “Are we willing to take that stand?”

Thank you for allowing me to rant and may God bless you and America as well!

LET’S TALK ABOUT REWARDING ACHIEVEMENT……..

I’ve been thinking for some time about the ideology of the left-wing, progressive, ideologues and their philosophy of punishing the successful, redistribution of wealth, creating a class warfare environment, and building hatred for ALL corporations and EVERYONE who has been successful in their life. I began to think about a parable in the Bible that illustrates the fallacy of that philosophy on all levels and especially a spiritual one.

Let me quote the parable so you can follow my thinking:

Matthew 25:14-30 – “For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. 15 “To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. 16 “Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. 17 “In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more. 18 “But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 “Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them. 20 “The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’ 21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

22 “Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.’ 23 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’

24 “And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. 25 ‘And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’

26 “But his master answered and said to him, ‘You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. 27 ‘Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. 28 ‘Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’

29 ” For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. 30 “Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” NASU

If Jesus thought that success should receive punitive action from government, society, the church, and believers this parable would not have been given. In fact, it illustrates that He thought exactly the opposite. Through this parable we are able to illustrate this truth in every facet of life and should, yet it is so easy to “hate” or be “envious” of someone who has achieved a measure of success and “blame” everything except ourselves for our “failure” to do the same. I do not suggest that all playing fields of life are level, there is no mention in the Bible that God ever said it would be. Yet, we have untold accounts of people who dug themselves out of abject poverty to the penthouse through their ingenuity, work ethic, willingness to take risks, frugality, and many times through a rock solid faith in God. The believed before they could see and dreamed dreams that most thought impossible but they clung to them with everything in their hearts and were driven to achieve that lofty prize of success.

Not to laude any man, but I read that Steve Jobs said that “Can’t” wasn’t part of their vocabulary. He stated the Obama was a “Can’t do” President because every time Mr. Jobs and other business leaders would suggest a solution to the POTUS he would tell them, “We can’t do that for one reason or another.” He is visionless when it comes to an America of excellence but driven to fulfill the “Dreams from his father” in destroying capitalism, implementing global anti-colonialism, and creating a world society where EVERYONE is “completely” dependent upon government for their livelihood. I’ve been called so many names because I don’t support him that are both untrue and unfounded that I’ve stopped counting and stopped letting it have any impact upon me and my pursuit of informing people of the danger he poses for not only America but the world and the church.

Look at the parable for just a moment:

Let’s set the scene and filter it through my premise that God wants to reward success and achievement rather than punish it. The man (corporation or individual) distributed “talents” to three people and made them aware that they would be held accountable for what they did with those talents. One was given five (5), another two (2), and the last one (1). The one with five (5) became incredibly industrious and doubled his. He could have lost all five (5) and would have had to account for his failure but he took the risk and achieved success. Likewise the one with two (2) talents did the same. He began with less but he still forged ahead taking the risk and doubled his. The person with one (1) sat on his holdings unwilling to take a risk or make any attempt to achieve a measure of success. His mentality was “status quo”.

Notice what happens when the master returns and does his accounting of what each of the three had done with that which he had entrusted them. To the one with five (5) who had doubled his holdings he was rewarded with more responsibility, more opportunity, and yes more wealth. Likewise the one with two (2) also received compensation, reward, and was given recognition. But, to the one that took no risk and could only offer back to his master the talent he had received with no further achievement, not even interest on the talent, he received chastisement from his master. The master called him a “wicked and lazy person.” Not just lazy but he classified this type of action and thinking as “wickedness”. Therefore, the master took his talent and rewarded the one with ten (10) with that talent also. Then he makes a most compelling statement: “For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have abundance; but from the one who does not have (because of his negligence), even what he has shall be taken away.” [Emphasis mine] He then has him thrown out as one would refuse. Does that sound like Jesus is suggesting taking from those who achieve to give to those who do not, or have a mind-set that they should share in the wealth of the successful without having earned it, worked for it, or contributed to it? HARDLY – He suggested no such rewards program.

To say that the “rich” do not pay their fair share is ludicrous on so many levels that I won’t even take time to address them. We have a country were over 47% of the populace pays ZERO TAXES and possibly over 50% receive some kind of welfare or subsistence from the government paid for by those of us who actually produce and pay taxes. The rich pay most of the taxes. The “so-called” middle class carries a heavy burden to support those who produce nothing and many of which have willingly accepted their state as an acceptable if not desirable lifestyle. That’s why I’ve said before and say again with the apostle Paul:

2 Thessalonians 3:10-13 – “For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. 11 For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. 12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread. 13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.” NASU

Charity and compassion have always been a part of Christianity and should always be. Helping those who either cannot help themselves or temporarily are unable to provide for their own is an endeavor that I have long been involved in and will always be and support. But, for those who “choose” to sit on their backsides and take from those who produce and think it is somehow their right, my compassion wanes dramatically and from what I read in Scripture, so does the Lord’s. Jesus clearly told us that we would never see a poverty-less society prior to His Eternal Rule. Likewise, the Bible set some specific guidelines for giving aid to those in need.

Deuteronomy 15:7-8 – “If there is a poor man with you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from your poor brother; 8 but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks.”
NASU

Luke 3:11 – “…The man who has two tunics is to share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise.” NASU

Proverbs 22:9 – “He who is generous will be blessed, For he gives some of his food to the poor.” NASU

Proverbs 19:17 – “One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD, And He will repay him for his good deed.” NASU

James 1:27 – “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.”
NASU

1 Timothy 5:3-8 – “Honor widows who are widows indeed; 4 but if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God. 5 Now she who is a widow indeed and who has been left alone, has fixed her hope on God and continues in entreaties and prayers night and day. 6 But she who gives herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she lives. 7 Prescribe these things as well, so that they may be above reproach. 8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” NASU

So, taking care of the truly needy is the responsibility of the church, the local community, and the families of those in need not the Federal government. It should be done through “Christian Charity” or just plain compassion upon our fellow-man. But, to push the majority toward being totally dependent on the government for their existence is foreign to everything that I understand from scripture, foreign to what I find in the writings and documentation of the Founding Fathers of this country, and foreign to reason. If we would stop punishing the successful, they would continue to venture into new spheres and thereby create opportunity for EVERYONE, at a minimum, the ability to provide for their own. I’ve been jobless and penniless not knowing where my next meal was coming from. I’ve had to live with family members because I could not afford housing but I NEVER adopted it as a permanent state and never lost my dream, drive, and vision to, through the help of God, attain independence and ablity to give to those less fortunate than myself. That being said, when someone “expects” a handout and believes it is their right to receive it without any work whatsoever, I find that most reprehensible. That reminds me of a situation my dad shared years ago.

He and my mother had been fishing and caught several fish. They were bringing them home to clean and eat but he was moved to give them to a neighbor who was a single woman with children that were in their teens. He stopped and asked if she would like to have the fish for her family. She then asked, “Are they cleaned?” He was shocked and even angered at that statement and said, “No they are not, do you want them or not?” She didn’t because it meant that she or her teenage children would have to dress the fish and prepare them for cooking. Dad always reached out to the needy but he found laziness intolerable in us (his children) or anyone else. I believe that is the basis of Paul’s statement in Thessalonians and Jesus’ representation in the parable I used as a springboard to say what I have said.

AMERICA we have to return to our roots and stop the insanity of creating a dependent society. Our dependence must be on God and our ability and/or willingness to produce rather than receive a handout from the government. Therefore, as for me and my house when November 2012 rolls around we will vote to remove from office every candidate that we have opportunity to vote for that supports the “welfare state”, “redistribution”, “progressive”, “socialist”, “class warfare” ideology and cast our ballots for those who support RESTORING THIS GREAT LAND TO WHAT IT WAS ESTABLISHED TO BE! As stated many times before, my commitment is to prayer for this nation, to work to see her restored, and staying energized and engaged in informing people as to what the real issues are and where we need to go as a nation and a people. You follow your heart and conscience. May God bless you and may God bless America!

LEST WE FORGET THEIR COURAGE……

I’ve been thinking about the conditions of our country and world and the upcoming elections. I’ve been thinking about my grandchildren and their fate if America is not restored to what the Founding Fathers established and brought forth. I’ve been thinking about the conditions of the world if the present course continues unchecked, and it disturbs me to the core of my being. I know the biblical passages regarding the “End Times” and fully believe that we are living in the LAST DAYS! However, I do not find anything in scripture that suggests to me that we are to passively sit back and watch it happen and say, “Whatever will be, will be.” NO! Instead I find example after example in scripture of God calling mortal man to have “courage” and “do the right thing.” This was often in the face of incredible odds, obstacles that seemed insurmountable, and often without the full support of the masses. Yet, He called upon them to “stand up” and “step up” to the task at hand and each time gave them a promise that HE WOULD BE WITH THEM. I believe that is what our Founding Fathers felt when they gathered to determine the course of action that would take the colonies into war with a far superior power and birth a New Nation Under God With Liberty and Justice For All!

For biblical reference let me call you attention to what Moses and then what God said to Joshua as Moses was departing the scene and the mantle and mandate to take Israel into the Promised Land fell upon Joshua. I find God’s expansion and emphasis very interesting. Moses said:

Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” NASU

Then God expanded it by saying:

Joshua 1:5-7 – “…Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. 6 ” Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 “Only are strong and very courageous…” NASU

Did you catch the subtle difference in each statement? Moses said be strong and courageous. God said be strong and very courageous. When I read things like this or hear the Lord speaking things to me that calls for courage or identifies opposition I often ask, “Lord what are you not telling me?” Here, Joshua had to totally depend upon the promise that God would be with him. God didn’t tell him all he would face. He didn’t identify all the hardships. He didn’t detail the problems that would be faced. He simply said this is your task and it takes a lot of courage and determination.

I believe that on July 2, 1776 when the Continental Congress voted 12-0, with New York abstaining, in favor of Richard Henry Lee’s resolution “that these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States.” Then on July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence drafted largely by Thomas Jefferson and heavily edited by Congress and adopted without dissent. On July 8, 1776, the Declaration was publicly proclaimed in Philadelphia. On July 15, 1776, the Congress learned that the New York Legislature had decided to endorse the Declaration and on August 2, 1776, a parchment copy was presented to Congress for signature. <strong>Most of the 56 men who signed the document did so that day. That was a day that changed their lives and ultimately changed the world, and I believe with the blessing of God on the side of the colonist.

Courage – – Too often we give little thought to what it meant to actually put you name on a document such as this. Under British Law it was an act of treason with the punishment being death. To publicly accuse King George III of “repeated injuries and usurpations,” and to announce that Americans were therefore “absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown,” was a move that required more than a little courage and forethought. These men knew that by putting their names to this document it could well mean the end of their earthly lives and brought their families into great jeopardy, yet they had the intestinal fortitude and faith to do that very thing – BECAUSE IT WAS RIGHT! They were risking everything and knew it. That is the clear meaning of the Declaration’s last sentence:

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

History has many different versions of what happened to each of them, some things we know for certain and some is legend but regardless they were willing to “stand up” and “step up” at a time when their country needed them and put it all on the line for the cause of RIGHT! I believe that is where we are today. I believe that the need of the nation and the call of our God is to “stand up” and “step up” and put everything on the line to save America. Our resistance will not prevent God from accomplishing His purposes and will not stop the spread of evil in the world but it can buy some time for the Gospel message to enjoy further propagation, give our children and grandchildren hope for a future, and bring some order back to the world in what I perceive as a battle with radical Islam that they declared and we must not sit back in passivity or our existence is over. I personally do not want to stand before God and have Him ask me “Why?” Why I didn’t do what I could to save this nation. Why I didn’t do what I could to maintain a Christian base for world evangelism. Why I didn’t answer the call to courage. You can disagree with me and that’s fine, but that is my conviction and belief that we are, this day, being called to PUT EVERYTHING ON THE LINE for the cause of RIGHT and the KINGDOM in trying to save America from the demonic powers that are operating now in this world and are heavily influencing the decisions coming out of the Whitehouse and Washington.

My only question today is: “What will you do?” I have not seen the perfect candidate, but I have seen the drive and desire of multitudes of normal, average, everyday Americans through organizations such as the “Tea Party” and other groups that want to and are willing to stand in the gap and make up the hedge to save our beloved nation. I’ve talked to hundreds of people, some who supported this President, that have concluded that the course we are on is a course to the end of America as founded and as we have known it. Some continue in their ideological or racial biases and blindly follow the pied-piper waiting for their next hand-out and expecting the few to provide for the masses. It’s time for the masses to stand with the few and take back this nation. It can happen if:

1. We return to God with repentant hearts and cry out to Him.
2. Actively become involved in the political process not only voting but encouraging other to register and vote.
3. Make whatever sacrifices needed to support the candidate chosen to oppose the present occupant of the Whitehouse and his radical ideological agenda.

I believe deeply in my heart that God has issued the call to “courage” and the ball is now in our court. Many of you are currently involved, engaged, and active but some are sitting like the proverbial ostrich with your heads in the sand. If you are truly a patriot who loves this nation and wants it to remain a Free and Christian Nation then you must get your head out of the sand and become involved. It is a choice that only you can make. If the current present President wins America a Memory! If you are comfortable with that do nothing. If that alarms you then answer the call to “courage” and “stand up” and “step up” and link arms with those of us who feel as Patrick Henry – “Give me liberty or give me death.” I cannot make it any stronger than that. I have made my choice and hope that you have or will also. AMERICA needs you more than ever!

God bless America and God bless you!

THE QUESTION OF THE BIBLE AND POLITICS:

Overall the Bible has little to say regarding politics per se but an enormous amount to say about doing what is right, speaking what is right, and taking positive action to bring about right and expose evil.

While the Bible does admonish us to submit to governing authority (Romans 13:1, 3-4, 6; 1 Peter 2:13-14) and when the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus and cast Him in an anarchist light (Luke 20:20-25) by asking if people should pay taxes to Caesar He astutely addressed that by saying, “Render to Caesar that which is Caesar’s and unto God that which is God’s.” In (John 18:36) He addressed His overriding message and thought by telling those listening that His kingdom was not of this world, if it had been his servants would have taken up arms and fought.

Yet, the Bible is equally clear that there are times when one MUST disobey this world’s authority or government and not only take action, but speak out in protest:
(Acts 4:19) – Peter addressed his oppressors and accusers by saying, “You yourselves judge which is right in God’s sight, to obey you or obey God.” He confirmed that in (Acts 5:28) saying: “We must obey God rather than men!”

(James 4:17) – instructs that “the one that knows to do right and does not do it, to him it is sin.” I would contend that when we see governmental action, policies, principles, and ideologies that are anti-Christian, anti-moral, and embrace things that God calls abominable and we fail to speak out we are committing sin by “omission” if not “commission.”

(Acts 20:28-31) – – Ministers have a God-given charge to give oversight and protection for their flocks. If they see the wolf coming to ravage the flock they must do whatever is in their power to defend that flock. That speaks to every level of life, spiritual, physical, moral, and does not omit the political. It is my strong conviction that we must speak out against things that go against the basic foundational principles of the Bible regardless if those are in the political, secular, or religious arenas. It is at that time the Ministers and Churches MUST SPEAK OUT.

(Matthew 10:28-29) – – Brings the issue to the forefront our attitudes regarding standing for right and truth always. Jesus said: “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

In the Old Testament we find numerous examples of men of God speaking out against and even to civil authority in opposition and using their influence to direct the people:

1. Moses challenged Pharaoh over the enslavement of Israel and his misguided politics.
2. Elijah challenged Ahab the King and even called him the “troubler of Israel” (1 Kings 18:17). He preached against Jezebel and her false prophets. He preached against the practices of Ahab.
3. (Judges 7:20) – Gideon took action against the authority of his day that was leading away from the principles of God and from here we get the phrase: “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon” as a rallying cry.

There are many others.

In Colonial America there were ministers who publicly preached and acted to inform and influence people in the “rebellion” against the Crown of England and encourage the American Revolution:

Although the American Revolution was not fought over religious matters per se (except for the principle of insuring religious freedom), religion played a major role in the process.

EXAMPLE:

When understood in its own times, the American Revolution was first and foremost a religious event. This is especially true in New England, where the first blood was shed.
By 1775 the ranks of Harvard and Yale-educated clergymen swelled to over 600 ministers, distributed throughout every town and village in New England. Clergymen surveyed the events swirling around them; by 1775 liberals and evangelicals, Congregationalists and Presbyterians, men and women—all saw in British actions grounds for armed resistance. In fact, not only was it right for colonists to resist British “tyranny,” it would actually be sinful not to pick up guns. How did they come to this conclusion?

They fastened on two arguments.

First, they focused on Parliament’s 1766 Declaratory Act, which stated that Parliament had sovereignty over the colonies “in all cases whatsoever.” For clergymen this phrase took on the air of blasphemy. These were fighting words not only because they violated principles of representative government but even more because they violated the logic of sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”) and God’s exclusive claim to sovereignty “in all cases whatsoever.”

From the first colonial settlements, Americans—especially New England Americans—were accustomed to constraining all power and granting absolute authority to no mere human being.
For Reformed colonists, these ideas were interwoven into their historic, covenant theology. At stake was preservation of their identity as a covenant people. Not only did Parliament’s claims represent tyranny, they also represented idolatry. For colonists to honor those claims would be tantamount to forsaking God and abdicating their national covenant pledge to “have no other gods” before them.
In a classic sermon on the subject of resistance entitled A Discourse Concerning Unlimited Submission, Boston’s Jonathan Mayhew, a liberal (he favored Unitarianism), took as his text Romans 13:1-6, in which Paul enjoins Christians “be subject unto the higher powers.” The day he picked for this sermon was portentous—it came on the anniversary of Charles I’s execution, when Anglican ministers routinely abhorred the Puritan revolution, and Puritans routinely kept silent. Mayhew would not keep silent. For centuries, rulers had used this text to discourage resistance and riot. But circumstances had changed, and in the chilling climate of impending Anglo-American conflict, Mayhew asked if there were any limits to this law? He concluded that the law is binding only insofar as government honors its “moral and religious” obligations. When government fails to honor that obligation, or contract, then the duty of submission is likewise nullified. Submission, in other words, is not unlimited. Rulers, he said, “have no authority from God to do mischief. … It is blasphemy to call tyrants and oppressors God’s ministers.” Far from being sinful, resistance to corrupt ministers and tyrannical rulers is a divine imperative. The greater sin lies in passively sacrificing the covenant for tyranny, that is, in failing to resist.

Second – Who determines whether government is “moral and religious”? In the Revolutionary era, the answer was simple: the individual. There were no established institutions that would support violent revolution. Ultimate justification resided in the will of a people acting self-consciously as united individuals joined in a common cause. Where a government was found deficient in moral and spiritual terms, the individual conscience was free to resist. http://www.christianitytoday.com/holidays/fourthofjuly/features/50h010.html

1. Clergy in the Revolutionary period reminded the parishioners people were not only fighting against, tyranny which they saw as involving idolatry, but they were also fighting for freedom to worship as the dictates of their hearts declared and for the moral rights of individual people.
2. Freedom & Liberty – – were both political and religious terms and the clergy of that era believed that to lose those politically was also to lose them spiritually and something they had a moral obligation to speak against in obedience to the principles of the Bible to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” (Matthew 6:33)
3. Ministers like George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards, Cotton Mather, Samuel Sherwood and scores of others preached and wrote politically as well as spiritually in their desire to see “Freedom & Liberty” preserved and gained. Sherwood’s sermon in 1776 – “The Church’s Flight Into The Wilderness” concluded that American Christians were the “church in the wilderness” and had to stand against oppression of all godliness, principles that were morally wrong and challenged “Freedom & Liberty” and declared that the Monarchy of England was not only an oppressor and it was the church and believer’s right and responsibility to stand in open opposition.
4. Thomas Paine wrote almost sermonic pamphlets decrying the King of England and stated that the British government as “a form of government which so impiously invades the prerogative of heaven.”
5. William Emerson (grandfather of Ralph Waldo Emerson) a 32-year-old minister declared the American struggle as the greatest event in modern history and preached a sermon based on (2 Chronicles 13:12) urging people to prepare to resist using the words of this passage, “And behold, God Himself is with us as our captain…. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the Lord God of your fathers, for ye shall not prosper.” He told his congregation that they would be called on for “real service” and encouraged them to not only prepare but be involved in the resistance to the civil authority of the British Crown.

In our more modern times men such as Martin Luther King, Jr. certainly used the pulpit to speak out politically for “civil rights”. It is amazing how many times a church or minister who holds a left-wing view is able with impunity to speak out politically and nothing be said or done by the government but if someone on the right speaks out, their status is in danger of legal opposition.. In fact this current President’s pastor of more than 20 years spoke politically for years, as has Lewis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson and many others. Pat Robertson and men on the right are summarily vilified for speaking out but those on the left have been able to do so with no threat and at times the blessing of the government.

The question becomes: Are we to stand for what is right, moral, ethical, biblical, and godly no matter what it costs us or are we to bury our heads in the sand and adopt the stance that “whatever will be will be” and absolve ourselves from the moral responsibility to “stand for God” and “right”. I not only believe that history concludes that we must STAND but so does the Word of God. There will come a time, in our lifetime, when we must choose to STAND FOR RIGHT or become subservient to the tyranny of the Left-wing radical, progressive, socialist, Marxist dictatorial government that being forced upon us. We stand at a cross-roads both “spiritually” and “politically” and we must PRAY as never before, COMMIT as never before, LABOR as never before, and determine the level of sacrifice we will make for “Freedom & Liberty”. The decision is yours and yours alone. I cannot make it for you, but I have made it for myself. May God bless you and may God bless America!

CHRISTIAN RIGHT – CHRISTAIN LEFT – WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN TO DO WITH REGARD TO POLITICS?

In thinking and wondering how such broad differences can exist in the views on various areas of life and politics among Christians, I have come to some conclusions. It appears to me, that there is as much difference in the thinking, views, and beliefs of those who profess Christianity as conservatives and those who are liberal as there is between those who do not claim the Christian faith as their foundation. To me, that is disturbing for many reasons. I fully understand that different groups within the Christian faith interpret the Bible differently, yet there are some basic principles that we should all hold to on the basis of Jesus’ own words.

C.S. Lewis was a strong critic of the welfare state, the nanny state, and the entire “Progressive” vision of the interventionist state. He was outspoken, basing his views upon his understanding of the Bible. I believe that we should all base our views upon the teachings of scripture. In fact, Lewis was so bothered by the differences I mentioned in the first paragraph that he questioned: “Is there a widening rift between politically conservative and politically liberal evangelicals? What are the basic causes of tensions between evangelicals on the left and right, and what can we do to address those causes?” I want to give an excerpt from his book “The Abolition of Man” for consideration before continuing:

“It is in Man’s power to treat himself as a mere ‘natural object’ and his judgments of value as raw material for scientific manipulation to alter at will. . . . The real objection is that if man chooses to treat himself as raw material, raw material he will be: not raw material to be manipulated, as he fondly imagined, by himself, but by mere appetite, that is, mere Nature, in the person of his de-humanized Conditioners. . . . Either we are rational spirit obliged for ever to obey the absolute values of the Tao [natural law], or else we are mere nature to be kneaded and cut into new shapes for the pleasures of masters who must, by hypothesis, have no motive but their own ‘natural’ impulses. Only the Tao provides a common human law of action which can over-arch rulers and ruled alike. A dogmatic belief in objective value is necessary to the very idea of a rule which is not tyranny or an obedience which is not slavery. . . . The process which, if not checked, will abolish Man goes on apace among Communists and Democrats no less than among Fascists. The methods may (at first) differ in brutality. But many a mild-eyed scientist in pince-nez, many a popular dramatist, many an amateur philosopher in our midst, means in the long run just the same as the Nazi rulers of Germany.”

Sadly, there are evangelical leaders who embrace all those negatives in support of utilitarianism, moral relativism and believe that “the end justifies the means”. They opposed President George W. Bush but support the authoritarianism of Barack Obama. They support government being used to force “social justice” not only on Americans but anywhere in the world they deem warranted. Their support of the “Progressive” ideology to grow a colossal government ruled by a soft tyranny if not a hard tyranny which rams a welfare state, socialism, and the corporatism that Obama continues to push is astounding. Yet, they are unflinching in their support and unrelenting in their attack on everyone who opposes this view. They do this to the point of worship of the man, his ideology and authoritarian government. Their unequivocal support becomes nothing more than a sort of political idolatry. I cannot imagine Jesus or any of the apostles defending the policies of Caesar or the Roman Empire, but we see it from professing Christians on the left regarding the ideology this Administration is deeply rooted. It is very difficult to understand. Please understand I know that there are errors on the right as well, but this goes against the basic principles of the Bible, in my view.

It is almost as though some on the left believe that the ideologies being promoted by their fellow liberal/progressive brothers and sisters will apply to everyone but them and those they care about. Death panels are not a problem. Abortion is not a problem. Class warfare/envy is not a problem. They have adopted a Marxist view that believes the government “knows best”. Christian writers throughout history have exposed the fallacy of this thinking including men such as Thomas Aquinas, John Locke, James Madison, Alexis de Tocqueville, Frederic Bastiat and many others. They all lauded the virtue of individual liberty, personal responsibility, civic virtue, and the rule of law. Yet, we hear some evangelicals on the left arguing that this is “anti-Christian” because the “Progressive State” knows best and dare not be hindered by the Bible or the teaching of Jesus. They promote this to the point of suggesting the dismissing of the principles Jesus taught listed above. They do this, if not openly, certainly by implication.

This is not a complete, exhaustive or even thorough discussion but suffice it to say that as long as people believe that “the ends justifies the means”, practice “situational ethics”, and that it is acceptable to set aside the very teachings and principles of our Lord to achieve what they believe, “social justice”, “moral relativism”, and “redistribution of wealth” we will have this great chasm politically. This country will continue heading toward moral bankruptcy UNLESS and UNTIL those who hold the Scriptures as our “all-sufficient rule of faith and practice” turn our hearts fully to God and refuse to give up our intercession UNTIL the heavens are moved and God sends forth a deliverer or deliverance to this nation. Therefore, I must renew my call for believers everywhere to begin as never before bombarding the Throne of God for this nation and this world. This is why I CANNOT support the policies of Barak Obama or the Progressives and have committed to do everything that I can spiritually, through prayer and teaching, and politically, through voting and talking to others exposing the fabrications and fallacies of this misguided philosophy espoused by him and his followers.

If we allow God to be our guide and the Bible to be our rule of faith and practice, and walk in obedience to His principles, we will see victory. If we become lax as we have in times past and do not aggressively take the battle to the battlefield we will see our liberties eroded, our freedoms taken from us, and find ourselves in a bondage worse than we could have ever imagined. My first allegiance is to God and His Word. Therefore, I choose to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness”. I believe deep trouble and strife is coming to this land and my prayer is that the planned and potential dangers I see NEVER become a reality. It is time to awaken from our slumber and renew our commitments to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I cannot stress how important I believe the elections of 2012 are as well as the months between now and then. My prayer is not only for God’s deliverance for this nation but for the “eyes of the American People” to be opened so they can see what is really going on and what the agenda really is.

“The Lord bless, you and keep you, make His face to shine upon you, be gracious unto you, and give you peace.” May God have mercy upon this nation and forgive our sins and complacency. I truly believe the world needs a Free and Strong America to stem the tide of evil that belches from the bowels of hell upon this world. It truly is our decision and could very well cost us everything! Therefore, you and I must decide what level of commitment we are willing to make. As for me and my house, “we will serve the Lord.”

Separation of Church and State?

We can all argue over what the founders intended regarding this issue and although we may disagree hopefully we can still be friends. I want to address this issue in some detail and then say what is really on my mind.

Consider with me some quotes from our founding fathers and others in history regarding the place of God in government:

“It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.” [Patrick Henry in May 1765 Speech to the House of Burgesses]

He and many other founding fathers viewed the idea of Separation of Church and state solely on the basis of not wanting a dominant State mandated Church or Religion, not that they wanted God, religion or the Church uninvolved in matters of State. In fact they encouraged that in every school the Constitution and the Bible be taught so that governmental decisions could be made on the basis of the moral fiber of the Bible. In Colonial America the clergy was virtually always consulted in establishing laws to insure that they were in harmony with the Bible.

George Washington said “It is impossible to account for the creation of the universe, without the agency of a Supreme Being. It is impossible to govern the universe without the aid of a Supreme Being. It is impossible to reason without arriving at a Supreme Being. Religion is as necessary to reason, as reason is to religion. The one cannot exist without the other. A reasoning being would lose his reason, in attempting to account for the great phenomena of nature, had he not a Supreme Being to refer to.”

Abraham Lincoln in 1861 declared the fourth Thursday of September a National Day of Fasting and Prayer and stated: “It is fit and becoming in all people, at all times, to acknowledge and revere the Supreme Government of God; to bow in humble submission to his chastisement: to confess and deplore their sins and transgressions in the full conviction that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and to pray with all fervency and contrition for the pardon of their past offenses, and for a blessing upon their present prospective action… it is peculiarly fit for us to recognize the hand of God in this terrible visitation, and in sorrowful remembrance of our own faults and crimes as a nation and as individuals, to humble ourselves before Him and to pray for His mercy… that the inestimable boon of civil and religious liberty, earned under His guidance and blessing by the labors and sufferings of our fathers may be restored.” On October 3, 1863 Lincoln issued a formal proclamation, passed by an Act of Congress, initiating the first National Day of Thanksgiving.

Alexander Hamilton shortly after the Constitutional convention of 1787 said: “For my part, I sincerely esteem it [The Constitution] a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests.”

In fact, when it appeared that the Constitutional Convention would fail it was Benjamin Franklin that appealed to those attending that they invoke prayer for guidance in forming the Constitution and follow God’s precepts. He said, “…”except the Lord build the House they labor in vain that build it…. I firmly believe that we will succeed no better in building this political building than the builders of the tower of Babel if we omit the guidance of God. Establishing Government by Human wisdom.”

Therefore, it is my contention having studied Colonial History extensively in college and since, that the founders NEVER proposed that Church, Religion or God be separate from State only that a State mandated Church or Religion not be established and they sought to insure freedom of religion. They welcomed input from all facets of religion and Church in the decision-making of government and formation of the new Constitutional Republic. I personally wonder why Christians believe that we should somehow eliminate God from human government. For if you examine our moral laws, legislated by our government most find their roots in biblical principles. The problem is not Church being involved but its absence, allowing the secular to rule which frequently, if not most of the time, opens the door to ideologies that allow laws, rules, and practices to become mandated that are formulas for greed, power, and the perverting of the basic principles desired by the founders and principles upon which this country was founded. I agree that we should NEVER have government dictating a particular religion but not that religion can play no role in government. Without God’s hand and influence we travel down the road to perdition and that was not the founder’s, desire nor that of Bible Believing Christians.

You can legislate, religion and God out of the public school and stop open public prayer. You can legislate, religion and God out of all governmental buildings and not allow any Christian symbols displayed or ceremonies conducted. You can ban any mention of God from governmental proceedings, public school functions, and elsewhere, but you CANNOT keep God out of people’s hearts and thereby you fail to keep God out of GOVERNMENT. As long as there are believers involved in the State, the Church (God) will have an impact.. A believer’s faith will influence the decisions he makes, the laws he is willing to see enacted, and the road he is willing to travel. As long as there are Christians there will be prayer in the public school albeit not aloud but prayer none-the-less. You can mandate that in a court of law one cannot use the Bible or the words “so help you God” before giving testimony but you cannot prevent believers from expressing that in their hearts and following that rule for the testimony they give. You can even take away the non-profit status of a Church for violating your laws and force believers into making a choice as to obeying God or man, but you cannot remove God from their lives by your laws. You can become angry when believers organize and oppose some political agenda and accuse pastors of violating “Separation of Church and State”, but you cannot stop anyone willing to face even prison for standing for life’s sanctity and other principles the vast majority of Christians believe.

I am not advocating a Theocracy for our earthly government for the simple reason that unless Jesus is the head of the government man would corrupt it. We have far too many examples of that in the world today and in history. Who would be the titular head of the “Theocracy”? What man would presume to stand in God’s place? Acknowledging the vast diversity of faiths the founders understood, and desired that all be free to practice their faith as their hearts would dictate. Thus they, under God’s guidance, (in my opinion), developed a form of government that would allow a functioning government and freedom of religion at the same time and both could coexist without conflict. Unless God Himself comes to the earth and sits on His rightful throne as King of Kings and Lord of Lords we must operate via human governments and the American example is the best there is short of that. There will one day be a Theocratic Government, on Earth, and Jesus will be the head of it, but until that day I prefer the system of government that our founders put in place, a Republican Democracy. However, I do not want God’s influence legislated out of the process. I want us to return to being a nation that honors God and His Word. I want the phrase on our money “In God We Trust” meaningful not just words.

You can disagree with me, that is your American right and even your God-given right. You can prefer that prayer not be allowed in public but you cannot stop people from praying in public. You can prefer that the Church have nothing to say about the political issues of the day, and you may prevent many from publicly making any statements, but you cannot stop private conversations or the teaching of basic biblical principles which will influence how people respond and react to various political issues.

In my view, the reason prayer was eliminated from the public school, the pledge of allegiance banned, abortion legalized, and the church targeted for speaking out publicly in opposition to political issues it considers in violation to the Word of God is because THE CHURCH was too passive as the debate ensued. We didn’t speak out as a group loudly enough for the politicians to hear us. We allowed our politicians to fill the courts with judges that interpret the Constitution from a slanted anti-God viewpoint. We did not pray fervently enough to the Lord of Hosts that He move on the hearts of the decision makers to prevent this from becoming reality. As a believer and a minister I WILL NOT be silenced and I WILL BE involved in government, if only as a voice. It is my conviction and contention that our founders recognized God’s importance in government and their objective was not to prevent His influence but to prevent a State Religion excluding others, thus they identified one of our liberties as “Freedom of Religion.” America, we need to return to God and allow Him to guide us rather than try to keep Him out of government. Some ascribe to the idea that we have private lives, public lives, political lives, religious lives, social lives, etc. My contention is that we are not “CATS” we do not have “nine lives”, we have A LIFE! We are the sum total of all the various compartments or departments in which we function in our daily lives. Our core beliefs and values determine who we are, what we stand for, and how we act and react to EVERYTHING!

That’s my belief! You can agree or disagree that is your privilege and right, but before you dismiss what I’ve said I would ask that you make it a matter of prayer and ask God what He thinks. I leave you with this question, “Whom shall we obey, God or man?” As for me and my house, “We will follow the Lord.” May God bless you is my desire and prayer!

OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT…..

Mr. President,

There have been a number of recent occurrences that I want to call to your attention and ask that you take public and definitive action condemning and being what you claim, President of the entire United States of America. Your oath of office indicated that you would support and defend the Constitution of these United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic. Your campaign rhetoric told us that you would be President of all the people even those who disagreed with you and you would be the post-racial President. It is my opinion that you have failed on all fronts and I will detail why I feel this way.

When the Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House you suggested to the Republicans and anyone who disagreed with you that “elections have consequences”. That was a very divisive statement and your actions proved that you believed it was your right to shut the opposition out of the discussion and even when the American people overwhelmingly opposed your policies you and the Democrats forced them down our throats. I suppose you believe that you and they know better than any and all of us what is best. However, it is my belief that this has done nothing but weakened our nation and created a divide that we have not seen since the 1960’s. I would suggest that you reevaluate your position, your unwarranted attacks and take a stand to condemn those on your side of the aisle for their highly inflammatory and racial comments, but so far you have not been willing to do that. Instead of doing what is right you have chosen, for political gain to fan the flames and intensify the divide.

The latest statement by the Congressional Black Caucus is one of the most blatantly racist things I have ever heard. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/this-is-war-congressional-black-caucus-travels-us-cities-using-violent-rhetoric-declares-war-on-racist-tea-party-says-tea-party-wants-to-lynch-blacks-calls-for-bank-runs-civil-unrest-in-th/ Although I am of the White Race I am not a racist and never have been. I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America and fully believe that “ALL MEN (mankind) ARE CREATED EQUAL.” I believe that each person should be treated with respect and dignity. You and the CBC obviously know nothing about the real Tea Party and only attack because they have been successful in slowing down your radical ideological agenda. You have stooped to name calling, inciting people to become highly inflammatory, and it almost appears that it is your hope that all this race baiting will get a violent response from someone in opposition so you can blame it on the Tea Party and Republicans. I truly hope that sanity prevails and no one takes your bait and maintains their decorum while you and your supports attempt to destroy this country. The evidence has proven that the Tea Party has been civil, cleaned up after themselves, unlike your supporters in their rallies. They have treated people with respect and demonstrated amazing restraint with regard to the attack after attack that has come from your supporters.

You have called for compromise and civility and yet when you were in total control neither were part of your vocabulary or rhetoric but now you say it but immediately use words that are as volatile as an incendiary bomb and NEVER condemn your supports who engage in the same type of diatribe. That causes me to think that you sir, are what you are calling others “A Racist”. I do not like saying that about the President of the United States but until I see you taking a stand against the injustices, lies, inflammatory, and divisive statements and actions of your supporters I will have to conclude that you agree with them.

You use of Executive Orders to by-pass Congress, the Constitution, and the Courts is of grave concern to me as an American Citizen and one of your latest is as divisive as you can get. That being the new “Office of Diversity and Inclusion”. http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/2011/aug/obama-creates-office-diversity-inclusion a bureaucracy that was not needed considering the fact that the statistical evidence confirms that federal employees of minority ethnicity are presently in a majority! That would suggest that your action is either racially based or politically based to purchase votes in the next election. Both are unacceptable and you should immediately rescind that order and apologize to the American public for taking yet another divisive action.

Mr. President, you seem interested in dethroning dictators and despots around the world in countries where the Muslim Brotherhood is not in control and choose to ignore those that are although the “Human Rights” atrocities are the same or worse in those countries. You continued apparent disdain for the Nation of Israel, one of if not the only friend we have in that region causes me grave concern. Your willingness to spend American into bankruptcy is so destructive that were it not for my faith in God I would be unable to sleep at night. Yet, having said all that “I trust God”. I believe that He will sustain those of us who trust Him. Government cannot be the source of supply and sustenance for the people and we do not need or desire to become a “Welfare State”. Please, find it in your heart to uphold the Constitution rather than consider it an “obstacle” in the path of your ideology.

I call for ALL AMERICANS to band together and pray for this nation. I pray for you that you will somehow see the light and turn from your path of destruction and do what is right for America. Sir, as the sitting elected President of the United States of America, I expect you to have America’s best interest at heart. Your continued failure to demonstrate that leaves me with no alternative but to work to see you defeated in the next election. You can blame bad luck, former President George Bush, the Tea Party, the Republicans, Conservatives, and those who cling to their Religion and Guns but you sir are the central figure in America’s decline. Your policies have not worked and will not work. They failed in Europe and many of those nations are turning from them. They have failed in every century where they implementation has been successful.. Please, allow us to produce the energy that will help us become less energy dependent upon nations that hate us. Please allow the free market to function without your crippling regulations and use of agencies such as the EPA to make it virtually impossible for business to function. Please stop your class warfare on America’s successful people and give them the opportunity and incentive to grow this economy and restore this nation.

I respectfully, suggest that you take immediate action and publicly condemn the CBC for their radical and racist remarks. I ask that you insist that the justice system enforces the laws of the land rather than fighting States who are trying to do what the Constitution and our present laws call for them to do. I ask that you immediately cease and desist, your seeming efforts to divide this nation and make a sincere attempt to become the President of ALL THE PEOPLE not just those of your particular ideology.

Respectfully,

THE BLAME GAME

It’s not my fault, so it must be yours…..

From the inception of the Obama Presidency, finger-pointing, blaming everyone and everything by his administration, but NEVER taking responsibility for their own actions has inundated us. I heard recently that since he would not be able to run on his record, his brain trust decided their campaign would vilify whomever his opponent might be through character assignation, innuendos, misrepresentations, and the like to divert attention from his failures and somehow make him appear as the principled one in the discussion. It will be a vicious campaign with more mud-slinging than we have seen in the past according to this report. That would be consistent with what has been happening for the past three years with this President. He has yet to accept responsibility for anything. He insists that he inherited an economy so bad that even his team didn’t realize how bad it was and were not aware. Yet, he was in the Senate leading up to the election so how did he not know? That would suggest incompetence, ignorance, lack of due diligence and lack of qualifications for the job he was seeking. He fails to recognize that since 2007 until the 2010 election the Democrats controlled both houses of congress and for the past three years the White House as well. Any reasonable, mature person would understand that at some point you have to accept responsibility for your actions. If you are the leader, the bulk of responsibility and accountability belongs to you and integrity would suggest that you man up and accept it. Yet, we continue to hear the “Blame Game” being played and it is tiring and we need true leadership in Washington.

The Blame Game is not new in fact it began in the Garden of Eden or even before when satan received the boot from heaven. But, back to the Garden of Eden; when God came to Adam about his disobedience he blamed God and Eve. Genesis 3:12-13“The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” NASU Way to go Adam, it was God’s fault for giving you a weak partner not your fault for being weak yourself. Then when God addressed the issue with Eve she blamed the serpent. Genesis 3:13 “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” NASU It has continued throughout the biblical record and history and is evidenced in many, if not most, problems we are seeing today. Another significant factor is what appears to be Pathological Narcissism in this President. I believe that when a person refuses to accept responsibility for their own actions it is evidence of immaturity, inability to face reality, is often driven by a radical ideology, and is frequently evidence of extreme narcissism. In short, the person CANNOT accept or face the fact that they have failed or are a failure; therefore the fault has to lie with someone or something else.

Some things that I have seen from this President that suggests to me that he is a Narcissist are:

1. He is rigid and inflexible in his thinking and dealing with others. (In my opinion, he truly believes that he is the only one right and everyone else is wrong. Likewise, he believes that if anyone disagrees with him it is a sign of a lack of intelligence and they are due treatment as children who need a stern correction and lecture, if not punishment.)
2. He believes that he cannot be wrong. (He uses rhetoric, false information, blatant misrepresentation of facts, and deviations from the truth to substantiate his correctness. I believe this comes from his indoctrination from childhood and that he was never held accountable for any of his actions. It was the evil empires of the Western world, Capitalist, the White Race, Conservatives, or one of a myriad of other possibilities that brought him to the place he is today in his thinking.)
3. He is arrogant, boastful, and pretentious. (His body language and his words convey a message that he believes that he is smarter, better, more deserving, and ideologically superior to everyone else. How dare anyone, disagree. The “main-stream media” helped to fabricate an image of him as being a type of messiah that was far above anything that the world had ever witnessed and he truly believes it is true.)
4. He has demonstrated a desire and willingness to punish criticism and is aggressive in his response to criticism and disagreement with him or his ideology. (He has a documented enemies list and through his Czars and other agencies of government taken steps to punish anyone and everyone who disagrees with him.)

I don’t know the depth of his disdain for this country but from his own writings and from reported comments by his mother and grandparents, he is a man driven to achieve the “Dream of his father” who was an African Anti-Colonialist, socialist, who hated the Western world and its culture, and was a racist. He even said, in “Dreams From My Father”“It was into my father’s image…that I packed all the attributes I sought in myself.” His father hated the rich to the point that he wanted to increase taxes on the rich up to 100% and developed in his son the idea of “redistribution of wealth” a clearly socialist or communist ideology. His associations and mentors have been radical ideologues who share much of the same sentiments as did his father. He spent over twenty years in a church where the pastor, a man he said helped shape his life, espoused hatred for Israel, expressed racist sentiments, and openly denigrated the United States of America. It was only after this became a potential issue in the campaign did he leave that church, which would appear to have been for expediency rather than ideological differences with the teachings of the church. Influenced by people such as Saul Alinsky, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Frank Marshall Davis, Alice Palmer (a radical leftist who introduced him to Ayers), Gregory Galluzzo (who initiated him into community organizing from a leftist point of view), Mike Kruglik (who helped train Obama on Alisnky’s organizing methods), Rev. Jeremiah Wright, John L. McKnight (a professor at Northwestern University also schooled Obama in the Alinsky methods), he became the ideologue he is today. Obama has stated regarding being tutored by McKnight, Galluzzo, and Kruglik as being “the best education I ever had, better than anything I got at Harvard Law School.” With all this in mind, how can we fail to see why this President is so determined to undermine the Constitution of these United States and dismantle our system of government and as he promised to“fundamentally change America.” Sadly, the change is not in the best interest of the vast majority of Americans and will destroy American Exceptionalism and relegate this great country to third-world status if allowed to continue.

I’ve only touched on a few things regarding this President and the dire state that our country is in. I readily acknowledge that it did not begin with him and the blame for our condition is vast and far-reaching, but he is the one who has succeeded in moving us to the point of no return. The 2010 elections were a step in the right direction but only a small step. In my view, we need total house cleaning in Washington and the professional politicians (with a few exceptions in the current membership of Congress) removed from office. We MUST HAVE not NEED TO HAVE men and women of integrity, who value and honor the founding principles and documents of this nation, elected. People, who will honor God, honor the desires of WE THE PEOPLE, provide the true checks and balances the framers designed and desired, and stand firm in doing THE RIGHT THING. Will we see that? At this point, I honestly do not know. Too much money, too many special interests, too much elitism and cronyism, too many entrenched politicians and bureaucrats in place to say we can accomplish it short of a Miracle from God.

That is why I continue to call for a concerted, national commitment to intercession for this nation. We cannot just labor to achieve certain results at the polls we must prostrate ourselves before God in honest, humble repentance and seek His face and favor. We need a Moses, a Joshua, a Deborah, a Gideon to step on the scene and under the Holy Spirit’s guidance lead us to the place that God desires and once again be “One Nation Under God.” Please do not allow politicians to devalue us and attempt to manipulate us through their “Blame Games”. Let’s hold them accountable for their actions and shine the light of examination upon their records not just listen to their words and mostly empty promises. AMERICA needs us like she has never needed us before, so please STAND UP FOR AMERICA and defend her, she is worth saving! God Bless America and God Bless You!

WHAT IF?

That is a question that I usually try to avoid and encourage others to do the same because it moves from reality into fantasy and seldom provides any real benefit to the one asking the question. Yet, today, I have been doing some “What If?” thinking of my own on several fronts and thought I’d share them with you.

WHAT IF I ran my home or business like the Federal Government runs their business? Best case scenario, I’d be homeless, penniless, jobless, and a scavenger for food, shelter, and clothing. Worst case scenario, I’d be in Jail. I could envision being faced with charges such as fraud, operating a Ponzi scheme, mail fraud, false advertising, perjury, embezzlement, insider trading, bribery or receiving bribes, and a litany of other possible charges. Yet, they continue to do all those things and more with total impunity. The sad reality is that they’ve been doing it for years and we keep sending them back to Washington to do more of the same so I guess one could say, shame on us.

This latest budget deal that was supposedly going to save us from the Armageddon of financial calamity is now being deemed the cause of the market going down, and slowing job creation because it cut too much. Might I ask, “What did it cut?” It increased our debt by 2.4 Trillion, guaranteed tax increases coming down the pike, virtually guaranteed that a Balanced Budget Amendment will fail and has made the Tea Party, Conservatives, and Republicans the scapegoats that Obama and the left will use in the 2012 elections. That does not address what I believe will be a soon coming declaration that because we didn’t raise taxes and cut so much it is proof that that policy is a failure and we must “spend more” in order to get the economy moving in the right direction. Taking an already failed policy and recycling it using hate speech, fear mongering, race baiting, and false reports, statistics, and blatant lies to get what they want. The hope we had of seeing Congress have the backbone to stand firm and get something done that would really address the debt and provide a platform to actually get this country going again went down in flames. The Republicans claimed it guaranteed no tax increases. The CBO’s report assumed in its numbers that the Bush Tax Cuts would expire. Harry Reid blatantly declared that although the Republicans said there were no taxes in this deal they were wrong and Obama said the Select Committee which will exclude any Republican that voted NO would offer tax increase recommendations. Somebody got the gold mine and WE THE PEOPLE got the shaft.

WHAT IF God operated the way the Federal Government does? There would be no assurance in His promises, His Word would be untrustworthy, the sacrifice of Jesus would be rendered null and void and forgiveness would be only good for the day in which it was given but might be brought up at a later date and require renegotiation. Salvation would not be a free gift but something that could be purchased and unless you were members of select groups you’d be out of luck. Prayer would be subject to so much red tape that getting a prayer heard would be almost impossible and would take years at a minimum due to the regulations, red tape, duplicate agencies you would have to go through and if you filled out the forms incorrectly would be automatically rejected. If God followed the liberal left’s ideology the Bible would not be considered the foundational authoritative declaration upon which we are to build our lives. Just as the left views the Constitution, it would be considered an obstacle rather than a foundational guide. Then we come to the matter of sanctity of life. It would have no meaning and heaven, well maybe it will be as described in the Bible and maybe not, depending on how God choose to use His resources.

I realize that these statements and comparisons, for some, will border on lunacy; but isn’t lunacy a good word to describe how the Federal Government is operating and how it has operated for years? The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 22:7 “The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender.” NKJV His desire for us individually and as a nation is the same as expressed for Israel in Deuteronomy 28:12-14“The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. 14 So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.” NKJV Yet, as a nation we are so deeply in debt that we are slaves to those we owe. Our nation has allowed itself to come to a place that we cannot sustain the debt, size of government, entitlement programs, and has mortgaged the future of our children’s children and into the future beyond should the Lord tarry His coming. We have put ourselves in a position subject to being declared insolvent by our creditors, taken over by the United Nations and forced into becoming subservient to a coming “World Government” which will be described as the “only” means of salvaging the world. Most will accept it and follow along like sheep to the slaughter. Others of us will resist and most will suffer torment, torture, and extermination. Population control will be declared necessary, our nation will cease to exist and the world will be TOTALLY dependent upon this NEW WORLD ORDER for its very existence.

For those of us who are Christians and know this is coming have a HOPE in God. Sadly, many shall be deceived and fall prey to the beguiling of the wicked one. I pray that the Lord be merciful and take us home before it reaches this point but if not, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” I don’t like playing WHAT IF? Yet, if we do not follow the directives of the Lord and:

1. Truly humble ourselves and pray and turn from our wicked ways destruction is coming.
2. Intercede for this nation and even the world we will lose this country with its freedoms and national sovereignty.
3. Become actively involved in government by making our voices heard we will continue down this path to destruction and it won’t be long in coming.

Let me conclude by saying – No matter what happens, DO NOT take your eyes off Jesus. We have no other hope, no other salvation! I will continue being vocal regarding politics because it matters. I will continue being vocal about spiritual things because it matters. I will continue to intercede for the souls of people, this nation, and our world because it matters and I believe that if enough people truly turn their hearts and prayers to the Lord in honest humble repentance and cry out for His mercy, He will DELIVER US! Congress is not my source or my hope. The President is not my source or hope. The Supreme Court is not my source or hope. The economy is not my source or hope. GOD IS! Therefore, I have decided that I will continue to pray for mercy but also that God actively remove every leader who resists His purposes and expose them for what they are to the world. So, WHAT IF every born-again, blood bought, God-fearing believer were to daily intercede for this nation, mankind, and God’s granting of His Mercy? Think about it and remember how even a few doing that in Scripture turned the tide. Join me in this commitment and enlist others to do the same. Commit yourself to prayer, becoming armed with real information, becoming active in seeking to change the climate in Washington, State Capitals, local municipalities, your home, and your life.

Thank you for allowing me to rant and make this appeal. May God Bless you in all that you do for His Kingdom and may God Bless America!

THE AMERICAN FLAG AND WHY I HONOR IT…..

I am a Vietnam veteran and proudly wore the uniform and served under the flag of these United States of America. I love this country and am highly offended when anyone defaces or desecrates her symbol of freedom – The American Flag. I defend the Constitution and since freedom of speech is one of the protections under the Constitution, I will defend anyone’s right to their opinion and the right to express it publicly. I do not support hate speech or the infringement upon the right of anyone to life, liberty, or their pursuit of happiness. Although, the war that I fought in was not popular and the debate as to whether it should have ever been fought or not I will leave to others and another time! I went there because my country directed me to do so and I attempted to serve with honor and believe that I did. I am not ashamed of my service, because my purpose in going was to defend “freedom”. The Peoples of South Vietnam desired freedom from the tyranny of the North and any people desiring freedom from despotism have a God-given right to seek the opportunity to enjoy it. I say that about any people anywhere in the world. Having said that, I am not suggesting that we enter conflict in every country where there is a challenge to dictatorship and tyranny but “freedom” is worth fighting for and worth dying for.

Recently there was a report published by Harvard University stating that celebrating Independence Day or the 4th of July, the parades that went along with it, etc. only benefited the Republicans and suggested that Democrats not participate or celebrate. It suggested that celebrating July 4th was a, lose-lose situation for Democrats because it shifted preferences to the right not the left. Isn’t that interesting! Celebrating the birth of our nation infuses people with a patriotic spirit and attitude and that is negative for Democrats. What does that suggest about what the left believes and stands for? If I were a Democrat I would be infuriated by the Harvard study unless, of course, I were Anti-American, opposed to the Constitution, and desired to see the restricting or elimination of personal individual freedoms and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution of this great nation.

Now, there is a new report by professors from the University of Chicago, Cornell University and Hebrew University that takes the Harvard study a step further. They reported, “A single exposure to an American flag resulted in a significant increase in participant’s Republican voting intentions, voting behavior, political beliefs, and implicit and explicit attitudes, with some effects lasting 8 months.” Wow! The study went on to say, “These results constitute the first evidence that non-conscious priming effects from exposure to a national flag can bias the citizenry toward one political party and can have considerable durability.” I encourage you to watch what comes next from this administration and the left. If I were a betting man, and I am not, I’d bet that there will be an effort to ban the flag from public buildings, schools, and from any usage in political campaigns. Can you imagine what that would say to the rest of the world about this country? What it would say to me about anyone who would support this idea or even espouse this study is that they “despise this country”. Had it not been for a patriotic spirit there would be no United States of America. Just like the Christian flag moves me to tears when I see it because it reminds me of the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the American flag causes my eyes to become misty thinking about what it meant initially and has meant for generations. This latest study conducted, an experiment and concluded that: “Subtle exposure to the American flag significantly shifted both Democrat and Republican participant’s beliefs, attitudes, and voting behavior toward Republicanism.”

Now, I don’t want to accuse those conducting the studies of “hating” America but to suggest that Democrats not celebrate the 4th of July certainly pushes my perception in that direction. Likewise, this latest study seems suggesting that the flag is bad if you support the ideology of the left. This, in my opinion, suggests that anyone who is Pro-America or has a spirit of patriotism is somehow considered bad. I guess, on one hand I’m glad that they produced these reports because it exposes the attitude of far too many on the left as being Anti-American and having no sense of patriotism or pride in this country, its founding principles and freedom. It has prompted me to a new commitment.

1. I will fly my American flag daily at my house.
2. I will find an American Flag to put on my truck either an actual flag or an emblem that I can affix to the vehicle.
3. I will stand to honor the flag whenever I see one (already do) and pause for a moment to reflect on what it stands for.
4. I will purchase flags to give to others to fly as a statement of support for this country, their patriotic pride, and the belief in our God-given rights for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Additionally, I will continue my intercession for this nation and her legal citizens. I will continue to cry out to God for politicians to step forward who have as their core foundation, a love for God, a love for America, a respect for the Constitution, and demonstrate courage, honesty, and integrity. I am proud to be called a Christian, an American, and a Veteran. I will endeavor to demonstrate in an unmistakable manner a spirit of patriotism and encourage others to do the same. I find it appalling that anyone would suggest that the American flag and celebrating our Independence as a nation is negative. I pray that you will remember this at every election, no matter what the election! I proudly honor the flag and say “God Bless America” and “God Bless You!”
