Why Am I Weeping for America?


I am writing to express my views regarding the State of our Union in the United States of America in 2025.    You may or may not agree, and that is certainly your right, for as I said, this is my opinion and nothing more.   It is based on things I see spiritually, socially, emotionally, economically, and politically. 

Over the past few days, weeks, and months, I have spent a significant amount of time praying and thinking about the condition of our nation, the church, and our world.   Out of that time, with everything I’ve seen and heard up to this point, come these thoughts.

I Fear For My Nation:

I see America as being more divided racially and engaged in class envy and class warfare than I have ever seen, including the 50s and 60s.  I lay the bulk of the blame for that at the feet of former President Barack Obama, the Biden administration, the elected Democrats, the media, Hollywood, and some religious leaders (albeit not necessarily Christian leaders as I would understand Christian).  

There is real hate in this nation that is growing dangerously close to boiling over.  When I hear Hollywood stars, music stars, clergy, and even politicians express a good feeling about seeing “white people” being or needing to be killed, it sends chills down my spine.  I know that kind of hatred can only lead to incredible violence, something I would hope none of us truly want.

I saw the former President take actions that were detrimental to our Republic, weaken our national security, and attempt to subvert the plans of the new President.  I watched with horror Barack Obama’s expressed desire and actions to reduce the size of our military and our capability to suppress attacks on multiple fronts.  He claimed that America’s military might was one of the causes of unrest in the world. 

Sadly, as he acted, our adversaries increased their militaries and applauded the move on the part of the United States.   Even the outgoing Secretary of Defense from the Bush administration contended that that type of move would relegate the United States to a second-rate status.  We would no longer be the pinnacle of military defense. We had a brief respite under Trump’s first term, and then came Joe Biden and Dejavu.

Our adversaries urged us to continue down that path of Obama.   Russia and China expanded their military at an alarming rate, increasing the percentage of their GDP for defense, and are dangerously close to surpassing us militarily.   History has proven that the best way to keep peace is by demonstrating power, and we have been rapidly moving away from being a nation of power militarily.  That ideology can be seen in the actions of both Obama and Biden.

Over the past few years, we have witnessed governmental actions punishing success and rewarding lack of initiative.  They engaged in a form of redistribution of wealth.   That has been an expressed desire of the Leftists for some time.    They contend that it is necessary to achieve a “level playing field” and “fairness.”   

I must ask, “Is it Fairness” to take from those who have worked for it and give it to those who are not working? 

  • Is a level playing field destroying initiative and willingness to take risks in order to reap the reward of success? 
  • Is a level playing field reducing the vast majority of the population to mindless followers rather than innovative leaders in the various phases and fields of private industry, including medicine, manufacturing, engineering, etc.? 
  • Is a level playing field having the government viewed as the source of our sustenance and the entity through which all progress and innovation comes? 
  • Is a level playing field removing from our educational training the motivation and encouragement to engage in critical thinking” and “analytical analysis”? 

Our nation is rapidly moving from a “free enterprise system” to one that far more closely resembles a socialistic system” than I am comfortable with.   I am hopeful that the Trump administration will rectify that and move us back toward fiscal, social, moral, and military soundness.

I see the almost incessant efforts to have “gun control” as a precursor to a “total gun ban.”   I believe that is the genuine desire of the Left.  It is the objective for all who argue that the 2nd Amendment does not and should not include the right to possess firearms that are the “so-called” assault weapons is ludicrous. 

Think about our Founding Fathers and the struggle they had gone through.   Do you think for one minute that had they known of those “so-called” assault rifles, they would have banned them?   They had just won a hard-fought victory over a tyrannical government.  The British Crown was in the process of confiscating all their firearms as the war began. 

Our Founders feared that the new government they were establishing could one day become tyrannical. They expressed concern that it would become so large and intrusive that it would be incumbent upon the citizenry to resist.   

In that light, they would most assuredly not have banned the citizens from having firearms that would adequately enable them to resist.  Argue all you want, but the facts will not support your argument that they would have banned semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines.  It is my profound conviction they would not!   

In a time when the vast majority of people fear that the government is too intrusive in our lives and will become even more so, there is great reason to defend and protect our 2nd Amendment Rights carefully.

I see a nation that has systematically moved from the “fear of God” and the “love of God” to being a society that wants to become so all-inclusive that God is banned from our public institutions, and the Bible’s influence is rejected in our government.   That is precisely the opposite of the mindset of the Founding Fathers and the colonists before, during, and after the Revolutionary War.    

Everything they wrote, spoke and included in our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and laws reflected the heavy influence of the Bible and a great reverence for God Himself. Yet we have heard repeatedly from the Obama administration and the Biden administration that America “is no longer a Christian nation.”

Yes, I weep for my nation because I fear that we are dreadfully near the time when the “Cup of God’s Wrath” will become full, and His severe and swift judgment will fall on this nation and this world. 

  • I weep because we have drifted so far from that Constitutional Republican Democracy that the Founding Fathers established. 
  • I weep because there is so much division and hatred among the citizens of this nation. 

America has been hated for generations, but even those who hated her respected our power and willingness to stand for freedom and liberty. They may not have agreed and desired to see us fall, but they respected our ability and position in the world. Under the Biden and Obama administrations, that was no longer true.  I am prayerful that we can rectify the damage.

We are now hated and disrespected and certainly not feared.   Osama bin Laden declared that America was a “paper tiger” both before and after 9/11.   We finally got him, but ten others are taking his place, and he has become a martyr in the eyes of those of his ilk who desire our downfall. We have been playing into their hands under the leftist’s policies and ideology.

America, I weep for you and pray for you.  May God grant us time to repent and return!

All Hope is Not Lost


I was recently reminded of some Divine Wisdom in teenagers and why I am hopeful for America’s future.  Godly wisdom in people of all ages is needed, but it is incredibly encouraging to see wisdom and understanding displayed in someone who was only thirteen years old. 

I confess I am a bit prejudiced and biased because the following was written by my grandson Corban when he was thirteen years of age.   It is about TEAMWORK.   If there is anything we need in America today, ‘teamwork,’ but instead, we get partisan rancor and the driving of wedges between parties, races, classes, genders, and nations.  This is the modus operandi of our many Presidents and members of Congress.   I find their rancor and antics appalling and completely demeaning to the office he holds.

Let me allow you to read the words of my grandson:

Life is a team sport.   Working by yourself may have its positive sides, but the precision of a team can cut through the empty void of space and reveal the beauty of our world.   Being alone has proven to have more failures than victories.  A group with the determination to accomplish a goal is far greater than anything that was accomplished by a single individual.   A team may argue and debate, but they will always step up to the challenge awaiting them.   Failures can be turned into success if the team has the heart to overcome their differences.

A single man will spend several years trying to accomplish a goal that a group can accomplish in a few weeks.   Our brains slowly erode away as social situations decrease.   Being lonely is an ultimate price to pay for not working and communicating with others.   Loneliness, though, isn’t the end of the everlasting list of consequences dealt to those who choose to take on the burden of working alone.   The effect of stress ages a person beyond the years any should experience.  Look at the president, single man running millions.  He has aged double his age in four years.  The discoveries of a group completely outmatch the pledges of the president.

NASA has been discovering new worlds with ease, but they have only scratched the surface of teamwork.   The Hubble Telescope was crafted by hardworking teams willing to stop at nothing to conquer the unknown.   The minds of those men and women were put to the test; and the challenge of failure pushed their minds to a new understanding.  Life is too short to hold back and not reach your potential. 

Those members of a group who refuse to work will have their hearts changed, even if they show no sign of hope.   People who say teamwork tends to anger and heart-wrenching endings have never felt the power of understanding others; and the joy of overcoming the wall of differences.  The teams, whose leaders are bossy, have not accepted that everyone has worth and purpose.  All the problems are just the falsely made ideas of people who have tasted nothing but defeat.         

No one should have the cold hands of fear clasp their hearts when they have a group to rely on.  Being alone, working will only cause stress and anger while teamwork brings joy and security.  Working alone will never come close to the accomplishments of a team.

I presented that “unedited” as it was written by my grandson, a thirteen-year-old eighth-grade student.   It demonstrates to me that our youth have insight that many adults, especially those in Washington, D.C., do not seem to possess. 

They desire to overcome obstacles, build bridges across the chasms that divide our nation, and work together to create a future and hope.  Since it appears to me that those on the Left have ZERO desire to compromise and work with those on the right, there is little hope that Teamwork can be realized in Washington, DC.   That is a sad indictment of our nation and our society.

What might be accomplished if we sent some wise thirteen-year-olds to Washington to hammer out some of the problems facing our nation and society without the propaganda from either side of the aisle?   I am not suggesting that these teens have the ability, maturity, or knowledge to handle the problems that face our nation.   However, we might learn from them in their ability to work together as a team.

  • In sports, if there is no Teamwork, there is failure.   
  • In combat, if there is no Teamwork, there is defeat. 
  • In marriage, if there is no Teamwork, divorce is likely. 
  • In Life, we should all know by the time we are adults that None of Us is an island, and we need others.  

That is biblical and rational.  So, I am calling for America to begin fasting and praying for our nation, elected officials, and society as a whole to learn again or learn anew the ability to Work Together as we did in WWI and WWII when our nation faced a crisis of epic proportions. 

Together with God, we can overcome anything.  Thank you, Corban, for causing Grandpa to reflect on your words and double my commitment to seeing America rise to greatness again as “ONE NATION under God with Liberty and Justice FOR ALL.”

Apocalyptic or Normal Progression?


You are justified in asking, “What are you talking about?”   I am talking about the current state of society, science, government, and life.   Jesus made a fascinating declaration in Matthew 24:37-39 regarding the Days of Noah and the days leading up to the return of Jesus.  

Of course, I am speaking from my faith foundation, so if you are a non-believer, I ask that you give me a few moments before you toss my presentation in the trash.  If, after you have read or heard my presentation, you disagree, that is your right and privilege, and I accept that.  We all have the God-given right and ability to think and form our own opinions. 

However, I contend that if what we are witnessing and experiencing today is more apocalyptic than a normal evolution of society, we need to take heed.  We need to ask if there is anything we can do to alter our direction.   I will address several reasons for my concern.  I will leave it to you to decide what you believe.

I saw a headline recently that alarmed me and caused the red flags of caution and concern to rise.   “Researchers Funded by Bill Gates Turn Mosquitoes Into ‘Flying Syringes’ to Deliver Vaccines.”   What in the world?   It seems that an effort has been made (maybe with noble intent) to develop a method of delivering malaria vaccines using genetically modified mosquitoes as “flying vaccinators.” 

Let me address some concerns with this.  The most obvious is, “If they can do this with mosquitoes for malaria, what else could they do?”   Yes, that is a conspiratorial suggestion.   I do so because the prime suspect in this research is Bill Gates.   Bill Gates suggested that a reduction in world population was necessary decades ago, and one of the methods of achieving that goal was ‘vaccines.’   That’s right, vaccines!  

If they can vaccinate the unsuspecting and unwilling via ‘mosquitoes,’ what else could they use and for what purposes?  I believe that any vaccine or medical treatment should be with the patient’s ‘informed consent.’ Otherwise, we find ourselves at the mercy of whatever powers deem themselves with the authority to decide our health and health treatment. 

I saw another headline that read: “Abortion Was Leading Global Cause of Death in 2024 With Over 45 Million Killed.”   That is stunning.  Relating that back to the aforementioned ‘Mosquito Vaccines,’ I ask, “What Is our modern view of life and the value thereof?”

With the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the genetic modification of the human genome, and tampering with human DNA, there is cause for concern.   Those who believe the Bible realize that there was incredible violence in the Days of Noah; giants were real and prevalent.  Cannibalism was not uncommon, and there were many other incredibly troubling conditions.   Jesus said that they were marrying and giving in marriage, eating, and drinking.  Sounds benign, right?

According to some Greek and Hebrew scholars, the wording indicates ‘continuous,’ not just a common normal event.  They were continuously giving in marriage, which some have suggested so devolved the institution of marriage that it was literally wife swapping, and marriage was meaningless.  Eating and drinking, among the giants or the Nephilim, the product of fallen angels and human women, resulted in eating human flesh and drinking human blood.   The conditions were unlivable and dangerous!  It was not just business as usual.

Today, there is an overt effort to blur the lines of gender and modify the sexuality of little boys and girls.  Homosexuality is not only accepted but promoted.  There are governmental efforts to do research and development on transhumanism.  Is this just a normal progression of science and learning or something more sinister and devious?

Tragically, too many people are putting all their hopes on some man or woman to lead us to a better political place.  Although we are in a political mess nationally and even internationally, the real problem is the human heart (soul).  

America enjoyed prosperity and became a superpower in the world as we built upon our founding, which was deeply rooted in the Bible and its precepts.  You may disagree, but I believe the evidence is overwhelming that I am correct.   If we continue to devalue human life and continue to be laws unto ourselves morally, we will not find restoration politically.  

I am hopeful that we can see America restored.   I am hopeful that we will return, as a people, to our moral moorings and biblical roots.  I am hopeful that we will transcend the political morass and rise to the place espoused and advanced by our Declaration of Independence.

I Miss America…


In this American’s view, we live in a nation where there is unacceptable activism in the Courts and especially the SCOTUS, there is too much unbending partisanship in Congress, often ignoring the will of the people, and most of our Presidents have been narcissistic ideologues.

Barack Obama wanted to punish America’s success and completely rewrite the Constitution or render it null and void.  Our society’s moral decay has reduced us to a decadent state devoid of moral mooring.  We have failed to keep the politicians in check.  We have drifted from the founding dream of pressing into true greatness and liberty as a people. 

If those assessments are remotely near correct, my title is appropriate.  The American Republic is no longer, and I am right to long for her return.  You may disagree on some points or all points, but I contend that it is difficult not to acknowledge that these are dire times.    I hope that in the next four years, something will be done to move us back to our founding republicanism. 

Our ship of state will not magically right itself.   After eight years of Barack Hussein Obama and four years of Joe Biden, we are left with a damaged republic.   I make no excuse for the incredibly bad decisions of both parties.  I am cognizant that America is facing some daunting and challenging choices in the immediate future.  If we do not correct our direction, the federal government will continue to expand far beyond anything that any of our Founders would have deemed acceptable. 

The Frenchman Alexis de Tocqueville came to America to investigate how such a new nation could excel so quickly and to the extent to which it excelled.   He found something he was not expecting and, in his analysis, gave a prophetic warning that we failed to heed.  It is to our peril that we ignore his words and those of numerous others, including many of our founding fathers.

Alexis de Tocqueville said:

“Upon my arrival in the United States, the religious aspect of the country was the first thing that struck my attention, and the longer I stayed there, the more I perceived the great consequences resulting from this new state of things.  In France I had almost always seen the spirit of religion and the spirit of freedom marching in opposite directions.  But in America they were intimately united and that they reigned in common over the same country.”

Think about what he said, especially in light of the actions of such groups as the Atheist, ACLU, and governmental agencies that have attempted to bypass the Constitution.   They have sought to weaken our moral moorings, banish all things Christian from the public square, and force Wokeism and Political Correctness on us.    I expect a more frontal assault on religion in the coming years.

Alexis de Tocqueville was amazed that anyone finishing the 2nd Grade could read and write well.  He even found that in the frontier, the common people could engage in intelligent conversation, read newspapers, and had a good understanding of the various branches of government. 

It caused him to reflect further:

“I sought the key to the greatness and genius of America in her harbors…. In her fertile fields and boundless forests, in her rich mines and vast world commerce; in her public school system and institutions of learning.  I sought for it in her democratic Congress and in her matchless Constitution.  Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret to her genius and power.  America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good.  America will cease to be great.”

Sadly, it is the view of this American that we have lost moral goodness on many fronts.  That is disturbing and borders on frightening.  We do not see “Moral Leadership” from the elected officials.  We are not seeing “Moral Mooring” in our schools, institutions of higher learning, courts, and often our churches. 

  • We are being inundated with an effort to achieve universal political correctness and forced accommodation called tolerance. 
  • We are watching the abandonment of Principle for the sake of appearing Tolerant. 
  • We are experiencing an America that the Founding Fathers feared would come and repeatedly warned against. 
  • We have allowed the Federal Government and other Governments to give us our liberties, freedoms, and any power that we might have rather than us giving the government its limited power. 
  • We have allowed the government to become the source of our rights, liberties, and freedoms rather than recognizing that those are “Inalienable Rights Given by our Creator.” 

Yes, America is in bad shape, and I, for one, Long to see her return!   America, you are in my daily prayers, and I will work and stand for you until I no longer draw breath in this mortal body.

Not My Father’s World


Does that title get your attention and cause you to raise your eyebrows and wonder?   I am not talking about my heavenly Father’s world but society today.  The world I grew up in and the world today are diametrically opposite.  The world I grew up in and that of my parents and their parents are light-years apart.   Every generation’s world is different, but today, we seem to have reached an alarming depth of depravity and devolution.

Being disrespectful, inconsiderate, self-serving, and vitriolic is the new normal today. That makes me wonder if your society has evolved to the point that the “new norm” of behavior is one of being disrespectful and inconsiderate. 

I believe that there are multiplied thousands who are totally shocked when they are confronted with their own participation in that “new norm.” Allowing our interpersonal and other relations to decline to this point has a very high cost. 

If you will afford me the opportunity and a few minutes of your time, I would like to point out some of the ways that I believe we are practicing this “new norm” and the “penalty” or “repercussions” that result from such behavior. I write this with a broken heart for God’s people and our nation and with a deep sense of shame that I, too, have been guilty at times.

LET ME EXPLAIN:

  • SOCIAL MEDIA

I have found that on Facebook alone, some think nothing of arbitrarily adding people to groups without their permission or asking if they would like to join or participate in that group.  Others, with regularity, post links and other items to people’s walls without first asking the wall owner their opinion or desire to have that link or post there. 

I am not referring to things like wishing someone a happy birthday or anniversary or other innocuous posts of normal social interaction. Vitriolic, vulgar posts and adding people to groups without their permission are, in my view, disrespectful and inconsiderate. 

That is a presumption or assumption of a right on the part of the individual committing those actions to do whatever they desire, irrespective of the feelings or desires of the other person.  It is virtually an expression of “I know what is best for you” or “I like this, so should you.”

  • INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS.

It appears that some are unwilling to give someone the benefit of the doubt before rendering judgment.   They react without the facts to support their reactions and demonstrate incredible disrespect for that individual. 

Likewise, there is the demonstrated view that it is all about us.  How often have we observed that someone on the highway refuses to allow someone to merge in front of them when it would have been easy to do so?   At the checkout stand, when someone with only a couple of items is in line, and we have a basket full, we tend to press forward selfishly.   Sometimes, I feel prompted in my spirit to allow them to go in front of me, they might be able to complete what could have been an urgent shopping event, and get on with what their day held for them. 

Husbands and wives too often fail to consider their partner’s needs or even desires and focus on what is in it for them. This attitude comes from both directions on the job.  The manifestation of the mindset, “It is all about me,” is prevalent.   It takes precedence over what is best for the company or others around me, including the customer. 

In our financial obligations, we sometimes fail to take proactive steps to ensure that the debt is paid or explain why there is a delay. In the Church, I’ve noticed over the years that a large portion of the congregation feels that the purpose of the church is to meet their needs rather than fulfill the Great Commission or serve others.

In our personal spiritual relations with God, we sometimes demand or complain about not receiving what we ask for at the time we ask.   We fail to consider that God’s higher purpose might involve a delay or even a denial of our request.   

Those are some simple and often minor examples of demonstrations of disrespect and being inconsiderate.

It would be equivalent to entering someone’s home, propping your feet up on the coffee table, and saying, “Get me something to drink and something to eat.”   I could not imagine walking into a local congregation and taking over the service, declaring that “this is the way we are going to go without channeling it through properly God-assigned authority.” 

Can you imagine going into a factory and stopping the production of an item, presenting your item as the thing to be produced without the management agreeing that this is the way to go?    It would not only be rude, disrespectful, and inconsiderate, but it would also get you thrown out on your ear, and rightfully so.

This attitude suggests that you believe you have the right to hijack someone else’s social media page, church responsibility, home, or business. It suggests that you believe your ideas or opinions are the only ones that have significant validity and are, therefore, the right ones to be presented. 

It is disrespectful and inconsiderate.  Your ideas, links, posts, etc., may be honorable, right, truthful, and even good.   Still, it is disrespectful if they are presented without giving the proper respect and consideration to those to whom the space, the home, the business, or the church either belong or fall within their sphere of responsibility and authority.   However, it seems to have become the new norm in today’s society.

  • We see this in our politicians when they disrespect the Constitution, the rule of law, and the will of the people. 
  • We see this in business when the customer is treated as a necessary evil, the employee is a dispensable tool, and the boss or management is the enemy. 
  • We see this in relationships when the other party’s desires, wishes, and feelings are relegated to a position of non-importance by our actions. 
  • We see this in so many facets of life that it is incredibly alarming to me.

The cost of this is that we will produce and are producing a generation of people who see this as normal.   There is a growing lack of concern that what we want may interfere with another person’s objectives, thoughts, desires, ideas, or plans.   We develop a society where every man is for himself, and everyone becomes a law unto themselves.   When we reach that point, we invite anarchy and are a million miles from God’s Word, Will, and Way.

From an early age, I was taught to consider others above myself, and so were most of you. Most of us were taught, from our early years, to respect others, their space, property, and rights.    Today’s entitlement society has adopted a philosophy: “I deserve it.   You owe it to me, or I have a right to say and do whatever I please whenever and wherever I please.”  That results in chaos, a total lack of cooperation, and a complete disintegration of trust, which is essential for a functional society.

Regarding Social Media, I have experienced people continually adding me to groups without my permission or without asking me to consider the group. That is grossly disrespectful and inconsiderate.   No matter how often I ask that it not happen, it continues to happen, and some get angry when I do what I always do: Leave the Group! It may be one of the best and most noble groups in existence, but if you add me without first asking me if I’d like to participate, I consider that a gross demonstration of disrespect and reconsideration. My only defense is to immediately leave the group. 

I choose not to impose my views on another person’s wall and post a link, an article, or anything else without first asking them permission. I have requested that they review the information and see if they want it there. Doing otherwise is disrespectful and inconsiderate, not to mention incredibly rude, presumptuous, and arrogant. The information may be fabulous, but if it is done in a wrong way, it detracts from its value and purpose. 

I see this as a sign that those who function in this manner are presumptuous, self-willed, and demonstrating a lack of respect for others.  It is most definitely, in my view, incredibly inconsiderate.  That is a spiritual and moral problem that is becoming a societal problem. 

Although the perpetrator might not view such action as problematic, it is and should be addressed.  Only you can address it in your life.  Take it before God, and I believe that He will confirm what I am saying.

We need to work at being more respectful and considerate of others in our lives and interactions.  If I post something on Facebook, you are more than welcome to say whatever you please (as long as you are not vulgar or make personal attacks on my friends). 

I made it as a public statement, and it is fair game. However, posting links, adding to groups without asking, or making other types of posts other than the common social media interaction communications is inconsiderate, rude, and disrespectful. I will always endeavor not to do that to you and ask that you not do it to me or anyone else.  If I fail, I ask you to forgive me and remind me of this.

It is a flaw in our society that is costing us our ability to develop the type of society that Jesus designed and desired.  It is a preventative to achieving the kind of society where consideration, respect, and moral decency prevail. 

I believe that one of the reasons that we see many of the violent acts of today is the lack of respect and consideration for others.   Sadly, we have an entire generation that has witnessed this type of behavior from leaders, parents, and other segments of society. Hence, they see it as the norm and think nothing about conducting their life in that manner.  It is, to me, a key cog in the decline of the American and even World Civilization and something that, even in the small and seemingly insignificant areas, we should work to overcome.

Let’s all strive to be respectful and considerate.  We can disagree without being disrespectful and inconsiderate!   We can have robust and even animated discussions about our disagreements without either of those elements.  We can have an open dialogue that is both respectful and considerate.  In that atmosphere, I believe we can come to some concrete conclusions about the real problems and solutions that we face individually and collectively.

I Keep Asking, Why?


Why What?   Why is there so much hate in the world today?  It is easily seen, but the actual cause is seldom considered.  In my decades on planet Earth, I have learned that if you do not consider the actual source, you rarely find a cure.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s and witnessed a lot of hatred, bigotry, and prejudice.  It wasn’t all just from the White Race toward the Blacks and other ethnic groups but was pretty equally distributed by all sides.  There was distrust and an inbred sense of difference that often produced hatred and evoked attitudes and actions far from godly. 

I became a Christian after serving in combat in Vietnam.  Through that transformation by the Spirit of God and the Love of Christ, I learned to love people whom I had grown up distrusting and even fearing (although fear is not a completely accurate description). 

I served in combat with people of different races and ethnicities. I had begun to realize that while we might have different values and backgrounds, we are all human beings who can unite for a common cause and stand as brothers and fellow citizens.  My Christian experience brought about a transformation of attitude that could only be described as divine intervention.

Through the 70s to the 00s, I believed that we were making progress in that arena, and until the election of 2008, I would have argued that we had.   After watching the resurrection of racial strife and hatred during that election cycle heavily encouraged by Barack Obama and those supporting him (not to excuse any on the other side that exhibited the same spirit), I realized that we had regressed to a point that ensured tension and offered the potential for a full-scale uprising that could lead to a terrible place in America. 

My heart was heavy then and is now over what I see and how many on both sides of the political and ideological aisles have not only allowed but also encouraged and participated in dividing the races, genders, and so-called classes of people for political purposes.  I have even seen those of the church become swept up by the wave of animosity and hatred, rendering their testimonies virtually null and void.  It has broken my heart!

If you are willing to work, love this nation, support the rule of law, and embrace a sense of morality that distinguishes right from wrong, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with you in the struggle, whatever that may be.   Your skin color does not matter to me. 

I have experienced racial discrimination and hatred firsthand and know how terrible it feels, and if, for no other reason, I would not participate in it toward another of my fellow man.  I believe the directive of the apostle Paul that “if a person WOULD NOT WORK, then he/she should not eat.”  Notice I emphasized a particular portion of that.  I did not say “could not” or “could not find,” but I said WOULD NOT WORK! 

Any person, regardless of skin color, who is a professional parasite should be recognized as such and responded to in a biblical fashion.  Love them?  Certainly!  Allow them to continue as a parasite and made to feel good about it – NEVER!

I hear some nationally known “preachers,” “politicians,” and “entertainers” utter such racist statements with impunity.  I am amazed that they are not taken to task by not only those within their own races, social, and professional groups.   It became chic to label those who criticized the policies and politics of Barack Obama as racist.   But if he or those on the left uttered racist things that were acceptable, justifiable, and defendable.  I do not understand that I do not agree with or accept that.  Right is right, and wrong is wrong, no matter where it comes from.

We have an enormous amount of hatred in this world, and the flames are being fanned by the entertainment community, the politicians, the media representatives, and even some in the clergy.   It is time that we all stood up and say Enough!   Some politicians, clergy, and professionals that I have the most respect and admiration for are of a different race or skin color than mine. 

I do not like using the term different race because we are all supposed to be members of the Human Race.   If we are in Christ, there are no racial distinctions.  But, realizing that not all are followers of Christ who love this nation, I won’t press that issue.   

However, if you support the Constitution of the United States of America, are a true patriot, and desire to see “liberty and justice for all,” then I stand with you and accept you.  I do not care about your ethnicity.  I do not care about your education.  I do not care about your social or economic status.  I care about you and this nation.  So, let’s all stand against the attempts to divide our nation and world and stand for Liberty!  We can change this climate, but it will not be easy, and it will not be quick.

The answer is a return to God and a change in the human heart (soul of man).   Without a change in the heart (attitude, moral condition, and assuming personal responsibility), we will never resolve the issue of hate!

As we move toward that objective of a Restored Constitutional Republic and a Return to God and our Moral Moorings, I pray that God bless and protect you and that God preserve this nation! 

Without Christianity, Western Culture Dies.


Of course, I need to expound upon that statement, define it, and enumerate my reasons for this assertion.  If you are not a Christian in some form, you may immediately take umbrage to my declaration.  If you are, you still may disavow my contention.  I only ask for a few short moments of your time to attempt to make my case.

I believe that one of the fallacies of the modern attempts to salvage our Republic in America and Freedom in the Western world is that we have attempted to do it politically.   The problem with that approach is it misses the root problem that has plunged us into the morass we are in.  It does not deal with the human heart (soul).   It feeds on the human heart’s greed, avarice, selfishness, prejudice, and pride.   It promotes power, and unrestrained power corrupts.

I offer a quote first published in 2017 by G. Michael Hopf in Those That Remain.   “Hard times create strong men.  Strong men create good times.  Good times create weak men.  And weak men create hard times.”  I believe that capsulizes the modern dilemma, reflects where we are, and gives an understanding of the root problem.  

America became prosperous, and in our prosperity, we lost our moral moorings and the founding Christian principles that shaped our Western culture. I believe it is easily proven that civilizations grounded in Christian principles have more freedom than those not. The populace of those cultures also enjoys more universal prosperity.

Those who contend that America was not founded as a Christian nation are forced to ignore the mountains of documentation and influence Christianity has had in shaping America.  In recent history, a concerted effort has been made to divest America of all biblical and Christian influence in the public square and public education.  The fruit of that will be felt for generations.

Winston Churchill said, “Christianity is the worst form of religion except for all the others which have been tried.”   I do not know Mr. Churchill’s faith, but I do know that Christianity has been an integral, essential element in America’s founding and success.

One of the Founding Fathers, Dr. Benjamin Rush, said, “If we were to remove the Bible from public schools, we would be wasting so much time punishing crimes and taking so little pains to prevent them.”   Even famed atheist Richard Dawkins called himself a “Cultural Christian.”   He said, “I call myself a cultural Christian, and I think it would be truly dreadful if we substituted any alternative religion.” 

That seems inconsistent with atheism’s mindset, but he recognized that Christianity built the modern world, and for all its imperfections, its successes far outweigh its failures. I am not talking about the imperfections of Christianity but societies. 

No other religion, political philosophy, ideology, or societal construct has produced more freedom and prosperity for so many as Christianity.  Christianity espouses freedom of speech, thought, and expression.  It inspires aspiration to better oneself and provides a platform for intersocietal composition. 

We can legislate until we are blue in the face and still not change the human heart. We can mandate tolerance and acceptance, criminalize speech and ideologies, and not change the human heart. We can force compliance out of fear of punishment and financial constraint, but we will not change the human heart. We can place our hope in a human savior and fail miserably, as have all societies taking that course.  

The only way to truly salvage the American Republic, our Western culture, and the freedoms we have enjoyed for centuries is Christianity.   In a Christian culture, even non-believers benefit from the freedoms espoused and provided by the biblical view of life.   John 1:4 declares, “In Him (Jesus) was life, and the life was the light of men.” 

Love cannot be manufactured.  Life-changing love is only found in God; multicultural societies can only exist with any semblance of peace in life-changing love.    I believe that Dr. Benjamin Rush’s defense of the use of the Bible in schools expresses the value of Christianity in society.

He gave five pertinent points:

  • Christianity is the only true and perfect religion, and in proportion, as mankind adopts its principles and obeys its precepts, they will be wise and happy.
  • A better knowledge of this religion can be acquired by reading the Bible than in any other way.
  • The Bible contains more knowledge necessary to man in his present state than any other book in the world.
  • That knowledge is most durable, and religious instruction is most useful when imparted in early life.
  • The Bible, when not read in schools, is seldom read in any subsequent period of life.

We can continue warring with each other, dividing into sects, schisms, groups, camps, and tribes, pursuing salvation through politics, and continuing to decline. The problem is the fruit of the human heart (soul) reflected in attitudes, ideologies, and actions. Without the influence of Christianity and the Bible, America, and our Western culture will devolve into an unlivable state.

Our answer is God!   You can dismiss it and attack me if you choose.  It is my view, and I ask you to examine your heart and consider God, the Bible, and Christianity as alternatives to our present course.

The Phony Outrage is Revealing


It is not rocket science, nor does it require superior intellect and deep insight to realize that the phony outrage over Elon Musk’s and the Trump administration’s discoveries on waste reveal a troubling truth. 

Watching and listening to the irrational diatribe of the left, over DOGE would be amusing if it were not so serious.  The extensiveness of the waste and fraud and the massive amounts is staggering.   The outrage, most of it faux outrage, by the Left, the Media, the Hollywoodites, and Democrats reveals something disturbing.   They do not care about America; they care about hurting Trump and protecting their turf.

Okay, now that I have sufficiently alienated some and stirred the pot, the continuing reports of fraud, corruption, waste, and ineptitude should make every American’s blood boil.  When billions, if not trillions, are being wasted annually, we should all be concerned.  Why are those on the Left outraged over these revelations? 

One of the more recent, a pittance in the total waste, is revealing.   DOGE has discovered that upwards of $100 billion annually is being sent to people with NO SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS!   They have no SSNs and no other government identification attached to their files.  Yet, they are recipients of federal funds (taxpayer money).   How can that be?  

Musk has declared that there is approximately $1 TRILLION in fraud, waste, and abuse that is readily identifiable.   What have Congress and those bureaucrats in charge of various departments and spending been doing?  Why is this being revealed now, just a few weeks into the Trump administration, when it has been going on for decades?   Where have the guardians been?  

I would like to ask the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, “What Have You Been Doing?”   Did they innocently miss this?  That seems unlikely and virtually impossible.  Why did they fail to keep tabs on those they hired to oversee these agencies?  Why has Congress failed to implement sufficient safeguards to ensure that there would be in-depth public scrutiny of federal spending?  

Congress is charged with overseeing a $7 TRILLION operation!   That’s right, $7 TRILLION!   Their abject failure is cause enough to send the lot of them home immediately!   Is it ineptitude, graft, corruption, or old-boy cronyism?   Is this a purposeful failure to properly oversee the spending of the federal government?   If not, then their ineptitude demands their immediate termination.  In the private sector, that would be the result.

Unfortunately, the weaponization of the government by the Obama and Biden administrations and the insane Trump Derangement Syndrome has created a mess that may not be revokable.  

Shouldn’t the public and Congress show the same concern over these revelations of abuse, waste, and fraud as they did when Samatha Power, the UN Ambassador under Obama in 2017, unmasked hundreds of her political foes?   Where were the Democrats when the IRS targeted the Tea Party members and leaked Marco Rubio and Trump’s Tax Returns?  They were deafeningly silent and are now outraged that spending fraud is being revealed.

Those people who have demanded to see Trump’s unredacted tax returns do not want DOGE to look too closely into the spending of the Treasury and other agencies.   Imagine that!   That is not just hypocritical. It is diabolical and screams of hiding something!  

The Left is not concerned about abuse of power; they are concerned about the dismantling of their cash cow.  They do not want the American people to see the truth and then possibly desire to hold them accountable.  They do not want to give up the cash flow and the power associated with the wasteful and fraudulent expenditures.  It is dirty politics not saving the Republic, protecting the Constitution, or “Saving Democracy.”  It Is about Power!

America, we are in a mess!    It is time that we, the American people, hold our elected and non-elected officials accountable.  Imagine the reduction in our taxes if the government spent legitimately and we eliminated the graft, corruption, waste, and fraud.   That is one of the objectives: keep us from knowing and keep the cash flowing!  

God help us to back this effort to expose corruption, waste, and fraud.  Help us to stop making this political and make it about returning to some semblance of efficiency!    We can restore the Republic, but it will take more than a president and his bloodhounds.  It will take Congress and the American people!

Contrasts Are Important


Many political pundits keep saying that America is a little right-of-center politically.  Is that correct?   I am not sure you can define it based on elections of the past two decades.   The pendulum seems to swing wildly at times, and in 2024, the move was toward the right politically.

Someone asked me to give them my view of the contrast between liberals and conservatives.   I attempted a brief comparison, which I will share with you:

Liberals:

In my view, they believe in government action or involvement to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all.   They believe that it is the duty and responsibility of the government to alleviate all social ills, protect civil liberties, and provide for all the basic needs of every individual.   They believe that it is the role and responsibility of government to guarantee that no one is in need up to and including the redistribution of wealth.  They believe that it is government policies that solve economic and social problems.

Conservatives:

In my view, they believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.  They believe in fiscal restraint and a balanced budget.  They believe that the role of government should be to provide people with the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals, dreams, and ambitions.  They believe that conservative policies and philosophies empower the individual to solve problems economically and socially.  They believe in the Constitution as written and that the Federal Government should never be intrusive into the lives of its citizens and believe in the spirit and letter of the Constitution, including: 

We, the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

LET ME LIST SOME SPECIFIC DIFFERENCES:

For the most part, conservatives are pro-life, believing in protecting the lives of the innocent unborn who cannot speak for nor defend themselves.    They believe that each person has the opportunity to climb the ladder of success through hard work and enterprise and that no one should be given preference due to race, color, or creed. 

They believe that the free market system, competitive capitalism, and private enterprise create the greatest opportunities for success and the highest standard of living. 

In contrast, liberals believe in a system where the government regulates the economy, punishes big business, and redistributes wealth, thereby creating a level playing field. 

Conservatives believe that oil, gas, and coal are all good sources of energy and abundant in the United States, and exploration of those energy resources should be allowed and encouraged. 

Liberals believe that oil is a depleting resource and that alternative sources of energy must be explored, even at the expense of drilling for oil and gas or mining coal. They believe that these should not only be regulated by the federal government but also controlled by the government, in contrast to conservatives who believe that private ownership produces more efficient and effective productivity and more competitive pricing of the product. 

Conservatives believe that the 2nd Amendment gives citizens the right to keep and bear arms, and individuals have the right to defend themselves, their families, and property.  They believe that there are too many gun control laws and that additional laws will not reduce crime, but enforcement of the existing laws would.  They believe that gun control laws do not prevent criminals from obtaining guns and that the more armed, law-abiding citizens possessing guns result in less crime. 

Liberals, on the other hand, believe that the Constitution “does not” give citizens the right to keep and bear arms but only allows for the state to keep a militia or National Guard.  They believe that more gun control laws are needed and even support the idea of a total ban on gun ownership for private citizens.  It is their view that more guns equates to more crime, something that has been statistically proven false. 

Conservatives believe that health care should come through a competitive free market system and that government-controlled and run healthcare will result in limited availability of healthcare and even denied care or diminished quality of healthcare. 

Liberals, on the other hand, believe in “free” or “low-cost” government-controlled and run healthcare.  They believe the government should provide health care coverage to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. 

Conservatives believe in and respect the ownership and private property rights of citizens. They also believe that eminent domain (the seizure of private property by the government—with compensation to the owner) is usually wrong and “should not” be used for private development. 

Liberals, on the other hand, believe that the government has the right to use eminent domain to accomplish any desired public end. 

Conservatives believe that the phrase “separation of church and state” is not in the Constitution. The First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”  This prevents the government from establishing a national church or denomination but does not prohibit God from being acknowledged in schools or government. 

Liberals, on the other hand, support the idea of separation of church and state. They believe that the Bill of Rights implies the same and that there should be no religious expression in any government facility or function. Religion can never be involved in or connected to government or politics. 

Conservatives believe in lower taxes and that they actually stimulate economic growth and development, thus producing more revenue and a more vibrant economy from which everyone benefits. 

Liberals, in contrast, believe that higher taxes and a larger government are necessary to address inequity/injustice in society, and tax dollars are needed to facilitate this function.  They support increased spending by the federal government to provide for all entitlement programs. 

Conservatives oppose long-term welfare and believe that opportunities should be provided to make it possible for those in need to become self-reliant. 

Liberals believe that long-term welfare is simply a safety net that provides for the poor and that welfare is necessary to bring about “fairness” and protect the poor when, in reality, it ultimately leads to virtual enslavement by the government and destines them to a life of dependency rather than one of self-reliance.

Those are just a few reasons that I consider myself a conservative.   So, I pray that God bless and protect you and deliver America!

America, Are We Free?


A follow-up question would be, “Are We Free?”   Some will immediately insist, “Of course we are!”    Before you make that assertion, I suggest you take a brief journey with me through the annals of history.  I want us to take a cursory view of what is happening in today’s America.   

“Land of the Free” is one of our treasured beliefs, and as is inscribed in our national anthem, but are we?  Lee Greenwood’s song has the line, “At least I know I’m free,” but are we truly free in 21st-century America?  I am incredibly serious in my questions.

I suggest a better description of our current condition is that we live in a ‘relatively free’ society rather than a “free society.”    If you are one that asks, “What is the difference?”  I will be glad to offer my definition in the following paragraphs, so bear with me. 

Why do most Americans believe we are free?  What is it about our society that engenders that view?   I heartily agree we are supposed to be free.   The Constitution was created to provide, protect, and preserve our Freedom, but are we free?   Based on what I see in this present world and America, I suggest that we are ‘relatively or marginally free.’  We are free in some areas but not in all.   We are free in some sectors of our lives but not all, especially regarding governmental control and regulation. 

We live in an internet, technologically driven world with a microwave mindset where everything is instant, quick, and accessible.  We can subscribe to internet and television providers and enjoy more channels and options that we can truly use or enjoy.  Is that freedom?  We can sit in the comfort of our own homes and play video games or do whatever our hearts desire, but are we truly free? 

My view is that the encroachments by the federal government and various governmental agencies make us only “marginally free,” not truly Free! I have heard the term “Free Society” almost all my life, and the more I try to define it in modern terms, the more disappointed I become. People’s mindsets and the reality of the looseness of that term, when applied to today, make it problematic. 

There are Constitutionalists and Libertarians who hold the view that a free society is one free from aggression.  They believe the only legitimate display of violence is in defense of person and property.   I do not disagree, and although I do not identify as a Libertarian, I desire limited government. 

I am a Christian who is Conservative and a Constitutionalist who supports support Limited Government.   My views, at least in my view, are rooted in the Bible, biblical principles, common sense, and civility.   Every encroachment by the federal government into our freedoms, rights, and liberties violates the spirit and intent of the Constitution.   We have so many government encroachments today that I find it impossible to declare that we are a free but marginally or relatively free society.

When the American populace approved and ratified the 16th Amendment authorizing the federal government to levy and collect an income tax from all Americans, we surrendered a significant portion of our Freedom.   The federal income tax, unlike direct taxes, does not have to be shared with the states.   

The 16th Amendment legalized what had been done before, such as the tax during the Civil War, where anyone making more than $800 was levied a 3% tax.   That morphed into 3-5% on income over $600.   Does that sound familiar? 

Any time the federal government finds a way to take our money, it rarely reduces that share by reducing taxes. Instead, the insatiable appetite of politicians and bureaucrats to spend, spend, and spend demands a steady increase in taxation. Money is Power! Income is Life, and by taxing our income, they are taking a portion of our lives. Is that Freedom?

We have certain Constitutional Guarantees that must be protected.  The Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech, Religion, and the Right to Property.  It guarantees the right to defend ourselves and our property.  The Constitution recognized that man has certain inalienable rights given to us by the Creator.  

So, I ask, when the government passes laws regulating who we can accommodate or refuse to do business with, is that Freedom?  According to the spirit of the Constitution, any business owner should be able to choose who they do business with.   

Before you question my faith or my knowledge of the Constitution, let me clarify my position. I believe that everyone has the right to say what they believe. I may not like it, but they have that right and constitutional freedom.  I believe that each person has the right, as a private business, to do business with whomever they please. 

Let me be clear: if your actions are racist, bigoted, and laced with a phobic attitude, the public, those who engage in your services or buy your goods, can also choose not to do business with you.  You have the right to be a bigot, and they have the right to make you pay where it hurts: the pocketbook. 

Is it freedom when the federal government criminalizes speech and regulates who you can refuse service to, regardless of your personal convictions or faith? Some who argue for Limited Government and less regulation will not agree with the following: As much as I hate ‘price gouging,’ that also should be the choice of the individual or business. 

In a truly Free Society, you can charge whatever you choose, and I can decide if I want to purchase your product at your price or not. If I don’t like your price, I can either go somewhere else or, if there is no other outlet for your goods or service, pursue alternatives or seek to provide those goods and services at a more reasonable price. That is true freedom!

I realize that what I’m saying will cause some to attempt to pigeonhole me politically as something I am not.   I am not a proponent of No Government but a strong advocate for Limited Government.  The Founders placed in the Constitution a duty or responsibility of the Federal Government to “provide for the common defense.” 

In Article 1, Section 8, the federal government is mandated to pay the nation’s debts.   No, I did not say pay the people of the nation’s debts, as seems to be the mindset of some disciples of Leftism and those embracing the entitlement mentality of the Socialist offerings of the Democrat Party today. 

The Founders tried to ensure the Republic paid its debts rather than continually and perpetually increasing the national date and spending us into oblivion.   They were to regulate commerce between states and other nations.  They were to coin money and a few, very few, other enumerated duties.  But today, our federal government bears no resemblance to the Constitutional Government authorized by our Founders.

The Nobel-prize-winning economist Friedrich Hayek wisely taught, “We shall never prevent the abuse of power if we are not prepared to limit power in a way which occasionally may prevent its use for desirable purposes.”  I believe that when addressing matters outside the few areas constitutionally assigned to the federal government, we should leave it to the states.   It may take longer, but the outcome will be more effective, lasting, and affordable.

Are we truly Free?   If we are talking about the freedom to choose the people we associate with socially, yes.   If we are talking about what television programs we can watch in our own homes, yes.   If we are talking about what we believe, yes.   But, if we are talking about the full spectrum of life, including the invasion of your privacy and the encroachments by the government, NO! 

The question is, “How do we return to being a free society?”   In my view, there are only two pathways I can endorse.   One is by returning to our moral moorings.  By that, I mean returning to God and once again becoming a Christian nation.    I believe there is a need for those who pray to become intercessors and intercede for the nation.    That may not be your cup of tea, but I believe it strongly.  The second pathway is at the ballot box, maintaining a constant watch on the activities of our elected officials and, when they violate our trust, helping them find other employment.
