WHAT HAPPENS WHEN FREEDOM OF SPEECH DIES?


The short but to-the-point answer to the title question is, “America Dies Too!” The Declaration of Independence contains a critical but foundational statement: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” 

Likewise, the First Amendment to our American Constitution is vital to remain free.  It declares, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

I should not be, but I am amazed at how little most Americans know of the Constitution and how few of those teaching in institutions of ‘higher learning’ accept the document in its original construction and intent.   The First Amendment clearly states that Congress is restricted from passing any law that abridges or infringes upon our Freedom of Religion, Speech, or Press.   Yet, Congress has done just that for decades, and today, we are on the brink of losing many, if not most, of our inalienable and constitutional rights. 

I am not sure which the followers of toxic liberalism want to abridge or rescind first, Freedom of Religion or Speech.   I am not sure those will come before their assault on the Second Amendment and our Right of Self-Defense embodied in the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, but I believe that is their objective.  

Both are in the crosshairs of their agenda, as are State’s Rights and our Right to Personal Property.  To those empowered in government, we, the people, are simply tools to provide funds and the manpower to achieve their purposes.  In their view, we are not the owners and overseers of government. 

In 2024 America, I am convinced that it is a virtual impossibility to defend Freedom of Speech and be a Democrat.  I realize that my declaration will make me persona non grata to many, and I will become the target of the followers of the ideology advanced by that political party. 

Sadly, I am sad to say that it is becoming increasingly challenging to find Republican politicians who are strong advocates for Freedom of Speech and our other inalienable and constitutional rights.   The Elitist and Establishment of both political parties appear more interested in protecting the position and place than serving as our representatives and doing our business governmentally.   That presents a plight that I will get to at another time.

I do not support malicious and rude behavior. There is generally no reason for it. It is one thing to hold a view that is offensive to a person who holds a different view, but another to be arbitrarily mean-spirited, rude, and malicious.  

There is no justification for calling for sedition or inciting riots.  Intellectually, factually, morally, ethically, biblically, and constitutionally, arguing a position can be done in the context of civility.  Please understand that I am neither a dove nor a hawk when it comes to war, but if we must fight for the right to be free, we must fight and fight to win.   Never fight for a draw; fight to win!

Just one short generation ago, someone could say, “This is not politically correct,” and then make their remarks knowing it might offend some.  Both sides understood that we had the inalienable and constitutional right to our thoughts and views.   We were free to express them, and others could challenge or reject them. 

Both sides of the political aisle understood the sharp contrast between Communist control of language and speech and the American way of liberty.   The speaker might fully understand that others might take exception to their view, but they knew that they had the God-given right to their personal view. 

In 2024 America and over the past decade or so, if you say something that is deemed by the powers that be “politically incorrect,” you can and may lose your job.  You may find that you are not accepted into a university or a club based on your views.  The Social Enforcers or PC Police are active, and Big Brother is always watching.  Social media records our every word and modern technology our activities.  We are under the microscope continually, and many live with the paralyzing fear of crushing one of the eggshells we are forced to walk on.

Just a generation ago, rather than demanding censorship of the speaker, people would walk away if they found the conversation offensive or unpalatable.   Today, the snowflake world and PC Police want to incarcerate any and all who offend the sensitivities of the liberal left.  

The Leftists are allowed to offend those of us on the other side but demand that we comply and embrace their view or sit in silence.  That is not constitutional or biblical.  That is the view of much of the Left and the majority of the Democratic Establishment.  That is one of the reasons I say it is impossible to be a Democrat and support Freedom of Speech. 

I am old enough to remember the little rhyme we were taught to deal with differences of opinion and name-calling.  “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”  That was considered an important comprehension for entry into adolescence. 

It was viewed as a necessary understanding as we became adults.  We were taught that everyone did not agree, and that was okay.  We were taught that we did not have to retaliate tit for tat and insult for insult.  We were taught that we were not entitled to a life free of offense.  We were taught to Grow Up!

If there is such a creature as a “Free Speech Democrat,” it is time for them to Walk Away from their party and join those of us of all political stripes who support that fundamental and foundational freedom.   If Speech is not Free for everyone, it is Free for No One!  Sadly, many on the Left, some on the Right, and virtually all in the media and academia seem to believe that the First Amendment only protects the modern progressive snowflake mentality and bans anything from conservatives, Christians, and constitutionalists.  That must end!

Another dimension in the fight for Free Speech is being launched by those who do not believe in God or have a skewed view of the Bible.  A Pew Research Poll conducted a few years ago revealed that those identifying as atheist, agnostic, or nothing in particular religiously increased from 17% to 26%.  That is disturbing to me. 

Additionally, the poll indicated that during that same timeframe, the number of those identifying as Christians decreased by 12%, now around 65%. That is doubly disturbing.  Before the Pandemic Isolation, only 54% attended only a few services annually or less.  I connect the assault on Freedom of Speech to that decline or increase in non-believers in biblical truths and principles.

We are in a war for Freedom, and its prime target is Freedom of Speech. Undoubtedly, it will extend to all our Freedoms, Liberties, and Rights.  We are marching rapidly toward a totalitarian, authoritarian governmental structure where the jackboots of tyranny will suppress us.  If we do not awaken from our slumber and unite, we will not survive.  Mario Murillo and others have said, “Christianity will survive without America, but America will not survive without Christianity.”  I believe that is correct.

Borrowing from Nancy Reagan – Just Say No!


Roy, did you say, “Just say no?”   No to what?   No to Kamala Harris!  No to the Leftists, neo-Leninists, Marxists, and Democrats.  No to the fundamental transformation desired by Barack Hussein Obama and those of his ilk.  Someone said, regarding this election, “I would hope that the first woman to be president of the United States of America would be more than a cackling strumpet.”  

It seems that in the Democratic Party, the only requirement is to identify as a woman, with no concern for policy, agenda, morality, or loyalty to the Constitution, the rule of Law, or America. I know that is harsh, but I cringe when people criticize Trump regarding morals and laud Harris as virtuous. Her record on morals, policy, and cognitive ability is not only not stellar but abysmal.

I say no to Harris and the Democrats based on policy, not morality.  Yes, morality is important to me, but we are not voting on a pastor, selecting a Sunday School teacher, or canonizing a saint.  We are choosing a person to lead this nation and hopefully lead it back to some semblance of being a Constitutional Republic that embraces and embodies the ideals of the Declaration of Independence.  Maybe I am asking too much, but I believe my desire is reasonable.

As a U.S. Senator in 2019, Kamala Harris called for removing police from public schools to fight racial inequities.  She advocated this as part of her plan to ‘demilitarize’ schools.  (Her words).   She said, “What we need to do about … demilitarizing our schools and taking police officers out of schools. We need to deal with the reality and speak the truth about the inequities around school discipline. Where in particular, Black and Brown boys are being expelled and or suspended as young as, I’ve seen, as young as in elementary school,” Harris said in 2019 in South Carolina, when she served as a California senator running for president during the 2020 cycle. 

There is evidence that Kamala Harris played a role in the J6 plot.  Her convention speech was saturated with duplicitousness.  She said, “[Trump] sent an armed mob to the U.S. Capitol, where they assaulted law enforcement officers.”  Tap the brakes, please.  Let me set the record straight on a few critical elements of her claim (lie).  The “mob” was unarmed.  Trump encouraged those hearing him to march over to the Capitol “peacefully and patriotically” and make their voices heard.  And, just in case you missed it, those at the Ellipse where he spoke did not reach the Capitol until at least an hour AFTER the Capitol had been breached.  

The MSM has become nothing more than a propaganda arm of the Democratic Party and the P.R. firm for Kamala Harris’ presidential bid.  The blatant ignoring of the southern border, the out-of-control rise in crime, and high inflation bordering on hyperinflation are problematic. The two major wars in progress worldwide, the botched Afghanistan withdrawal where we effectively armed the terrorists and governmental agencies being weaponized targeting political opponents, is a problem. There are many more issues, and Kamala Harris’s potential administration is a major one! But, not according to the MSM. She will fix what she was a part of breaking as though she had nothing to do with it.

One of her party’s arguments is that “She does not need to negotiate against herself,” meaning she should not release her agenda until after the election.   That reminds me of Nancy Pelosi’s insistence that we had to pass the bill to find out what was in it.  NO!  We need to know what we are buying before we buy. 

Representative Ann McLane (D-NH) said, “She doesn’t need to negotiate against herself.  We’ve got the biggest possible tent right now.  I don’t think there’s a real strong reason for her to try to weed out any points of view right now.”  What does that mean?  Let me offer this analysis or interpretation: “She does not need to be specific yet.  It is in the best interest of the Left for her to be as vague as possible so as not to alienate moderate voters.  If she reveals what she really wants to do, the moderates and independents will bail like rats leaving the sinking ship.”

One Democrat told Politico: “They [the voters] have very little knowledge of who she is, what her job has actually been.  They know Trump. They know what his policies are.  They don’t know Kamala.  And so, Kamala has a ton of room right now to define herself.”  That’s the problem: people do not know who she is, what she has done, or what she plans to do.  Anybody who votes for her without knowing those factors is complicit in the destruction desired by the Left.   We need to know America, and once we know, we need to “Just Say No to Kamala.”

The MSM and the talking heads are praising her for policies borrowed from Trump.  They praise her for the same ideas they vilified J.D. Vance for weeks earlier.  The hypocrisy is off the charts, but that is what happens when the MSM becomes the propaganda arm of the Left.

We have a choice in November, and if we make this about personality rather than policy, we will pay an extremely high price for at least four years, if not four decades, into the future.  That is assuming there will be a future.   I do not want to be gloom and doom, but the elections’ consequences have never been more apparent than today.

Politics, Religion, and Life…


I am a Christian, a minister of the gospel, a natural-born American citizen, a Vietnam veteran, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend of freedom.   Everything I do and all of my views are rooted firmly in my faith and upbringing.  I am unashamedly committed to Faith, Family, and Freedom!

The number of times I have been chided for being vocal on the political scene is so numerous that they are almost uncountable.  I have long contended that politics is a part of life, and as a believer, I am to address life and sound the alarm when I see danger on any front.  That includes the political.

I do not believe that pastors should make politics their focus. Still, I also believe they should be open to addressing fundamental issues of biblical importance that affect life, parenting, and morals.  Sometimes, silence is consent or gives the impression that we are okay with violations of God’s precepts and moral sanity.  I am unable to be silent when I see danger.

In today’s America, politics has become one of the, if not the paramount, issues faced today. I agree with someone who said, “Politics is taking over life.”  For many, it is the consuming occupation of their waking thoughts, and they are either overflowing with hope or becoming manically depressed by what they see. 

Politics no longer allows us to let the politicians handle the politics and demands that we follow the example of the ministers in the Revolutionary War Era and throughout history (world and biblical).  We cannot ignore family finances without facing the danger of potential fiscal ruin.  We cannot ignore our children’s behavior without endangering them to moral, societal, and eternal ruin.  We cannot ignore relational issues without inviting estrangement that permanently divides.  Nor can we ignore the political scene because politics impacts every dimension of our lives today.

Emphatically, let me say, “We cannot fix what is wrong in America or the world at the ballot box.  However, we cannot ignore the ballot box and hope to repair the damage and see restoration.”   I believe the only real solution will be enacted upon our knees in intercessory prayer and a return to moral sanity.  By that, I mean returning to God and allowing our hearts to be changed by the Grace of God.

Today’s world is so filled with animosity that many on both sides of the political, social, and religious aisles believe that ‘hate’ is justified.  They refuse to work alongside or cooperate with anyone who differs in ideology from them.  Politics was never to become the most crucial thing in life but secondary and a tool to establish the Republic, advancing the ideals in the Declaration of Independence.  “All are created equal by our Creator and have inalienable rights to pursue Life, Liberty, and Happiness.” 

Today, the government has become more than ‘Big Brother;’ it has sought to become God! It has been said that ‘History repeats itself.’ In my 70-plus years on the planet, I have observed that if we ignore a problem, it does not get better but worsens.  The fallacious idea that the founding fathers desired an impenetrable wall of separation between church and state to evict all mention and involvement of God and the Bible from the public debate has weakened the pillars of freedom upon which this Republic was established.

Where is America headed? I have an opinion and a concern that it could become an afterthought in history.   However, I believe that God is still on the Throne and can and will help this nation if we follow His precepts and return to our moral moorings. 

History reveals what will happen if we continue on our current course. I cite the fall of Constantinople in centuries past. That city had stood as the capital of the Roman Empire for 1,000 years. It was thought to be impregnable, but it fell due to the persistence of Muslim Sultan Mehmed II and some defenders of the city abandoning their posts.

The Genoese warriors, about 700 valiant fighters, were defending the most vulnerable parts of the wall. They were spread extremely thin, and although they repulsed the assailants twice, their captain was wounded. Then, for whatever reason, the Genoese warriors abandoned their positions and left the most vulnerable part of the wall unprotected. The city fell.

Today, we have those who insist they cannot vote for Donald Trump because he is a flawed individual (which of us isn’t?)  They insist that voting for him is not an option for various reasons.  Some of them include harsh tweets and abortion issues (pro and con).  They seemingly ignore what transpired under his administration compared to this administration.  How that can be is beyond my ability to comprehend.  

If we vote on personality, we vote on the wrong thing!  This is not a personality contest. It is a fight for survival.  It is a fight for freedom.  Trump is not the threat to “democracy” as claimed by the Left and the media.  The edicts, actions, laws, and agenda of the Left are a threat to the Republic.  Will we survive if the Democrats remain in power?  Will we come through it as the Free Constitutional Republic we have known? We probably will survive, but it is unlikely that we will be even remotely recognizable as the founded Republic.   But again, my confidence is in God, not government.

The Supreme Court is at stake, and the addition of left-leaning territories such as Puerto Rico and Washington DC will likely become states, shifting the balance of power dramatically.   The incredibly bad 45% capital gains tax proposed by Harris and a 25% unrealized gains tax will shudder our economy and personal finances.  The border will be nonexistent, and Medicare and Medicaid will likely be bankrupted, as well as Social Security.  The oil and gas industry will be devastated, possibly causing inflation to become hyper and the cost of goods and services to be astronomical.  Can we survive?  Possibly and maybe even probably.  Will it be good?  NO! 

The most popular quote of the 20th century, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” is relevant. That may sound pedestrian and innocuous, but it has a far greater relevance than most want to acknowledge. Sometimes, silence and refusal to vote are approvals of what we oppose or a backdoor vote for what we do not desire.  

The only perfect man was Jesus Christ.  God has used and will continue to use flawed vessels to achieve His purposes, so I urge you to consider the cost of not voting or withholding your vote for Trump.  He proved to be good for America, and the Biden-Harris team was bad for America.  I stand for Faith, Family, and Freedom, so I will vote for Donald J. Trump in November.  Love me or hate me, I believe that he is our best option as president.

LET ME REHASH THIS ISSUE AND ASK, “IS A CASHLESS AND PAPERLESS SOCIETY A GOOD THING?”


For those of you who adamantly affirm YES, I ask you to allow me a few minutes to interject some questions.  For those who adamantly insist the answer is NO, I ask for the same consideration. 

If I based my concerns solely on the biblical prospect of the Mark of the Beast and some digital and technological mark required to buy and sell, I would automatically align with the “Naysayers” on this issue.  On the other hand, if I were to look at it from a convenience standpoint solely, I would align with the “Supporters.”  I believe many factors in this issue should be considered, including cybersecurity or the lack thereof, as well as cybercrime, which is rampant in today’s technological world.

In 2024, we have reached a technological point where our entire homes can be managed with technology. We can track anything or anyone using a smartphone and a computer. We have camera technology, where a picture from a satellite in outer space can give incredible detail of something on the ground. We are rapidly moving toward “driverless” or “autonomous” automobiles, where we get in, sit down, and pay no attention to the road or what is happening around us, as we often do in airplanes. 

Robotics in medicine allows surgeons to accomplish tasks with precision before unheard of, and technological advances allow doctors to see a 360-degree view of the human body without any invasion.  The world of technology is truly amazing, and I am often like a fish out of the water as I am exposed to it.  My grandchildren are much more comfortable in that world than I, and many I know have virtually forgotten how to write a check.  In the 21st Century, we are rapidly becoming a cashless and paperless society, so again, I ask, “Is that a good thing?”

I recently saw a report about cyber breaches in private companies, some of which expose millions of citizens to identity theft.  The breaches, often underreported, if reported at all, are disturbing within our federal government.  This report indicated that in the fiscal year 2016, the federal government reported 30,899 information-security incidents (nice spin on what happened), and sixteen went beyond the threshold of being a Major Incident. 

That has increased exponentially in 2024. That does not include the many breaches in state or local governments’ networked systems. There is no magic fix for this problem, and as an I.T. friend of mine said, “If it is software-driven, it is hackable.”

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) spotlighted the inadequacy of our federal government’s defense against cyber-attacks. It is readily apparent that every governmental agency needs to step up its defenses. If you remember the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) breach in 2015, you remember that Chinese hackers stole twenty-two million personnel records. 

A second report released in September 2017 revealed that many government agencies continued to be unprepared and lacking in defenses against such crimes. Are they better prepared today? Reports indicate no!  We were told that at least twenty-one governmental agencies continued to be incredibly weak in the five major categories for information-security control: access, configuration management, segregation of duties, contingency planning, and agency-wide security management.  Could I inquire, “How safe does your information feel?”

Let me walk through some of the incidents dating back to November 2016.  The Department of the Navy discovered that a laptop containing the names and social security numbers of 134,386 current and former sailors was compromised.  The laptop belonged to a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services employee who was a Navy contractor.  WOW! 

In December 2016, we were told that the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) discovered a Russian-speaking hacker seeking to sell more than one hundred potentially compromised credentials of the EAC database.   Some of them had administrative credentials, and the hacker, calling himself “Rasputin,” had no known connection to the government agency, so it was an outside job. 

This hacker later attempted to sell access to many state and federal agencies even though the government could not identify the hack.  That is comforting, isn’t it?   In January 2017, the Department of Defense (DOD), in conjunction with HackerOne – a bug bounty platform – initiated a series of “Hack the Pentagon” campaigns and was able to access an internal DOD network.  That does not speak well of our security. 

In March and April 2017, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Agency (NSA) acknowledged that any classified information released by those agencies should be held in question due to hacking.  We dare not omit the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where over 100,000 individuals had their taxpayer information compromised. Until the tool was turned off, hackers filed over 8,000 fraudulent applications and stole $30 MILLION from our government. 

To extrapolate further, we know there are continuing issues in the Departments of Labor, Securities and Exchange Commission, State, Energy, Homeland Security, Defense, the U.S. Postal Service, National Institutes of Health, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. One has to ask, “Just How Safe Are We?” 

The FDIC was hacked by Chinese government agents between 2010 and 2013. The U.S. Forces Korea and the Republic of Korea Armed Forces acknowledged that the North Koreans stole joint U.S.-ROK wartime operation plans. I feel so secure knowing this!

Those are just a few of the myriad Hacks or Security Breaches that have occurred over the past few years. The federal government, Credit Reporting Agencies, local banks, and financial institutions all have major issues. 

That demands the question, “Is a Cashless and Paperless Society a Good Thing?”  I have long been skeptical about putting more information online than is absolutely required and have incredible trepidation at putting my bank account number, credit card numbers, and social security number online. 

I visited a doctor’s office some time back, and the form they had me fill out included my social security number. When the lady at the computer input the information, she threw the document in the trash—not in the shredding bin, but in the Trash!  I saw it and immediately demanded she return the paper to me.  I worked as a fraud investigator for a major credit card company and know how easily identity thieves can gain more than enough information to make life miserable for us.  Can we be 100% Safe? 

NO!  Not unless we never open a credit account, use no computer technology, have no smartphones, and pay for everything in cash.  Since that is not practical for most or even possible, we are exposed to it.  If we have a cashless society and someone hacks your profile, you can be penniless instantly, and you may never recover.  We cannot depend on government, financial institutions, businesses, or even our anti-virus software to protect us.  Am I being paranoid?  Possibly, but the caviler attitude some have with their personal information troubles me.

From a Christian perspective, I oppose this technological move because I see how it can evolve into a ready tool for the Man of Sin to impose his havoc economically on our world. You may think that what I’ve written identifies me as a person possessed by Fear, but I argue that identifying reality does not mean being fearful but cautious, and if we are to be good stewards, we should be aware.  

Can we prevent a cashless and paperless society from becoming a reality? NO! It is coming, but we need to find as many ways to protect ourselves as possible. The government is not our protector and often poses as great a danger as any thief.

I have delved back several years and assert that the problem is not better but worse today. That should be a warning to each of us of the dangers of adopting a ‘Cashless Society’ or any system that allows hackers and the government to intercept everything we do and steal from us with ease.

NOTE TO THE AMERICAN VOTER: “If You Believe This… Then…”


I truly hope my title got your attention. The obvious questions are, “If you believe what? Then what?”   Let me follow two streams of political ideology, convictions, beliefs, and desires for America and suggest you vote accordingly based on what you believe or desire for this nation. 

As surprising as it may sound, it is not rocket science.  Some argue that it is far more complicated than I will suggest; it is not!   We sometimes complicate and placate within our minds to justify the clouding of personal responsibility and the seriousness of what the nation is facing.  However, it isn’t complicated, and where we stand on the various issues reveals much about us and our personal view of the Republic called the United States of America.

Postulation Number One:

  • If you believe that America is an evil nation because of her past sins and must be revised, reformed, and transformed into a Progressive, socialist, Leftist nation with no borders, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that America should be more concerned with illegals than American citizens, children of legal citizens, and our military, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that it is your right to expect “redistribution of wealth” earned and amassed by others, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that everyone should be forced to comply with the wishes of various ethnic or life preference groups regardless of that person’s convictions, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that rights come from government rather than, as our founders believed, from our Creator, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that the rich are inherently evil and should be forced to pay for your lifestyle disproportionately rather than everyone paying a proportional share of the expenses of government, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that you should receive welfare, entitlements, education, cell phones, houses, vehicles, and healthcare at the expense of those who work and pay taxes while you do not, then vote Democrat. 
  • If you believe that there should be no borders, thus destroying our national sovereignty, leaving our citizens subject to harm and danger from unvetted immigrants entering this nation, and support the ideology that we are “citizens of the world,” then vote Democrat.  

I could add many more things, but you get the picture.  But if you believe those things and the ideological agenda of the Democrats, then by all means, vote for them.

Postulation Number Two:

  • If you believe that America was founded on sound principles and agree with our Founders and Framers that “all are created equal and have certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” you cannot vote Democrat; your most viable option is to vote Republican. 
  • If you believe that we should put America first before fretting over the status of illegals, then you cannot vote Democrat; your most viable option is to vote for the Republican. 
  • If you believe, as many of our Founders and the Bible declare, that if a person “will not work, they should not eat” and are opposed to the generational, professional lifestyle of “Entitlement Living,” then you cannot vote. Your most viable option is to vote for the Republican. 
  • If you believe that what a person earns, amasses, or inherits is theirs and that Property Rights are among the most sacred Rights of Americans, then you cannot vote Democrat. Your most viable option is to vote for the Republican. 
  • If you believe that the Free Market System (Capitalism) affords the most viable opportunity for anyone and everyone to succeed economically and Socialism is the antithesis of what America is all about, then you cannot vote Democrat. Your most viable option is to vote for the Republican. 
  • If you believe that everyone should be subject to the law, including politicians and citizen representation, rather than professional elitism in politics, then you cannot vote for the Democrat; your most viable option is to vote for the Republican. 

Of course, I could add many other things to the list, but for the sake of brevity, I will move on.

Some are so devotedly Democrat or Republican that they vote unquestioningly for the (D) or the (R) behind the candidate’s name without vetting the candidate and discovering what they stand for, if anything.  Others insist that the Democrats and Republicans are peas in the same pod; the only difference is the (D) or the (R).  I contend that this is not entirely accurate, although there are many similarities, and the establishment of both parties’ desires is much the same thing. 

However, there are historical and factual differences on which we can focus.  No candidate is a Saint; each of them has kinks in their armor and flaws in their character.  If we allow personality or physical appearance to determine our vote, then we abdicate our American responsibility of choosing the persons to represent us who are the most likely to advance our ideological beliefs and preferences. 

The Democrats historically and factually have opposed virtually every “Tax Cut” for the last 50 years and are the Party of Entitlements and Spending.  They have never seen a Tax Increase they did not like and continually fan the flames of hate, division, discord, and distrust. 

The Republicans have advanced the desire to Cut Taxes on everyone, which is good for everyone. The Trump Tax Bill demonstrated the distortions, fears, and lies of the Left about evil corporations hoarding money rather than helping our economy. Four years ago, we were seeing jobs and economic investments transpiring at an amazing rate, and from some sources, we might not have expected it. 

Some Democrat Liberal Leftist economists now admit this was good for the economy.  Republicans, on platform, desire to secure, protect, and defend the individual rights of all, not the rights of a select few.  They have demonstrated a willingness to advance the cause of the underprivileged and defend the defenseless, including that child in the womb. 

Ideologically, the parties are not the same, although individual members of the parties may be.  This is another reason to Prune the Bad Fruit and why I would support Term Limits.

We can allow our distrust and distaste for particular politicians and the government to cause us to withhold our vote in the elections, thereby perpetuating the problem.  We can determine that we are going to fight to the finish in our effort and drive to “Reclaim and Restore” the Republic by voting enough of the Establishment Parasites from office that we can begin the process of dismantling the Deep State and draining the D.C. Swamp. 

The task is monumental, and it will not be easy or quick, but if you believe that America is a prize worth fighting for and that we, the people, are the true owners of government constitutionally, then it is imperative that we enlist truly constitutional and preferably conservative candidates to run for office, work to get them elected, and then demand that they do what they were elected to do. 

It is imperative that we become teachers, teaching our children the value of personal involvement in government and the consequences of apathy. It is imperative that we refuse to be silent. Although I do not suggest that everyone become a political activist, I do suggest that everyone become aware, concerned, and involved to the level and degree possible as they pursue their vocations and professions. 

This is our America, and what happens to her, in a very real sense, depends on us. The question is, “What do you believe, and what will you do about it?”

ARE WORDS JUST WORDS?


Today, we are inundated with the outrageousness of redefining terms.  Words and terms clearly understood for generations, if not centuries are being transformed to mean what the translators desire to facilitate their ideological agenda. 

That fact causes me to ask, “Are words just words without meaning, or are they indicators of character, attitude, agenda, and ideology?”   Do words mean anything today?    To answer that, I suppose it would depend on the environment, the people to whom they are being spoken, and by whom they are uttered. 

Words that were innocuous decades ago are not termed evidence of a phobic condition needing immediate reeducation or eradication.  If you disagree with the followers of toxic liberalism, you are deemed to be suffering from some phobia.  To those offended, you are worse than Genghis Khan or Jeffery Dahmer if you use non-threatening terms from bygone eras.  You are on equal footing with Lucifer of the Bible and unworthy of the air you breathe.

If I express my belief that the religion of Islam is anything but peaceful, I am attacked with extreme hate and vitriol and deemed to be Islamophobic.  On the contrary, if they trash Christianity, they are considered within their rights, and their Free Speech is protected and defended.  If I express my belief in traditional marriage between one man and one woman, I am deemed to be homophobic, but if they criticize my beliefs, they are considered heroic and brave.  If I do not want my grandchildren or any children to be exposed to things that would harm their psyche, I am a transphobe, but if they attack my position, they are within their rights and misunderstood. 

Therefore, I must ask, “What do words mean today?”  The use of the race card and the term racist is almost meaningless today because it is incredibly one-sided.   If we do not bow at the altar of the shrine of the Politically Correct and acquiesce to the demands of Antifa, BLM, or other activist groups, we are declared racist.  If you question the wisdom of allowing the border to be eradicated, you are a xenophobe and unfeeling to the needs of those less fortunate.

I have been informed that I am considered to be a White Supremacist because I am a Caucasian male who is a Christian and conservative.   Joseph Goebbels said, “The bigger the lie, said often enough, becomes the truth.”   Entomology, psychology, and the Bible all reveal that words have meaning.  Rational people understand that words must be taken in context.   Words taken out of context can be twisted to mean anything. 

Let me offer a few pertinent quotes from the Book of Books, the Bible:

Matthew 12:37 – “Your very words will be used as evidence, and your words will declare you innocent or guilty.”  TPT

Proverbs 18:21 – “Your words are so powerful that they will kill or give life, and the talkative person will reap the consequences.”  TPT

Proverbs 29:20 – ‘There is only one person that is worse than a fool: the impetuous one who speaks without thinking first.”  TPT

Proverbs 13:3 – “Guard your words, and you’ll guard your life, but if you don’t control your tongue, it will ruin everything.”  TPT

Luke 6:45 – “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of his heart his mouth speaks.”  “People are known in this same way.  Out of the virtue stored in their hearts, good and upright people will produce good fruit.  Likewise, out of the evil hidden in their hearts, evil ones will produce evil.  For the overflow of what has been stored in your heart will be seen by your fruit and will be heard in your words.” TPT

The frequently used tactic of ‘demonization’ is a staple of the followers of today’s toxic liberal ideology.  It seeks to define the person they target as being inherently diabolical and evil.  The objective is to delegitimize their opponent and their position.   It is to disallow any dissent and views freedom of speech and thought anathema.

The Bible is deemed to be hate speech by those on the Left who seek to remove any biblical influence from the public square.  If you quote the Bible, you are thought to be overcome by some phobic condition and are a member of the society of deplorables.

I cannot ignore the feeling of dismay I experienced over those in America celebrating the terrorism conducted by Hamas and other terrorist groups.  The slaughter of innocent children, babies, and women is unconscionable and should be loudly condemned by all.  Some of those celebrating also insist that there was no Holocaust and that Hitler was simply a leader advancing a philosophy that was in the best interest of his country.  That is astounding!

There is a video of CAIR Executive Directory Nihad Awad celebrating the terrorism of October 7th.  He said, “I was happy to see the people of Gaza break the siege on October 7; they were victorious; the people of Gaze have the right to self-defense – Israel does not.”  What?  To launch an attack and brutally murder, rape, behead people while destroying property is laudable but to respond is untenable?  That is beyond lunacy. 

Words are important, which is what the Constitution comprises – WORDS!   Words with specific meanings and intents were used to formulate the system of government defined in that document.  Therefore, when the judicial nominee of Joe Biden, Sara E. Hill, pledged to “ignore” Oklahoma’s abortion laws and blatantly lied about it to Congress, we have a problem.

For example, when Ms. Hill was questioned by the Senate, Senator Kennedy (R-LA) asked her to explain the difference between a “stay order” and an “injunction.”   She could not answer the question and finally responded, “I’m not sure that I actually can give you the – uh – that.”  Wow!   Those words have specific meanings, and any law student completing the first year of law school knows the answer. 

We are so steeped in identity politics and activism that our courts are almost meaningless and are rapidly becoming nothing more than political arms advancing an agenda.  That is not what our court system was designed to be, nor what we should be willing to allow.

In addition, the modification and redefining of terms are causing us to endure the twisting of science to advance a lie.  That twist is endangering millions of our children.  The lie that a person is born a homosexual is advanced and believed by those of that community and some on both sides of the social, moral, and political aisle. 

I was impressed by an ex-lesbian, Robin Goodspeed’s declaration: “I was not born a homosexual. I was not ‘born that way.’  There is no scientific proof, or proof of any kind, that homosexuals are ‘born that way.”  I was sexually molested at the age of two, and I began making choices at that age that led to a life of homosexuality.  I chose that life, and I clung desperately to the lie that I was ‘born that way’ so I would never be held accountable for my choices.” 

Walt Heyer, a former transgender, was asked if transgenders are ‘born that way.’  He said: “There is no evidence that transgenders are ‘born that way.’  There is, however, evidence that they are suffering from untreated mental disorders such as bipolar disorder, dissociative disorder, separation anxiety, schizophrenia, and personality disorder.” 

Christian minister Janet Boynes opened up about her abusive childhood and the reality that she did not fit the cookie-cutter image of what a woman should be.  She chose to become involved in lesbian relationships.  She wrote: “When I was living in homosexuality, I knew I was sinning.  The Bible told me, my conscience told me, and many people in my life told me.  Unfortunately, I also had many people telling me that what I was doing was simply a lifestyle choice and not a sin. … My own experience as a former lesbian leads me to believe that many in the homosexual community are searching for love and acceptance. …  I desperately needed to find love, to feel loved, and to experience love.”

What does this have to do with words?  Everything, because we seek to define terms based on what we want them to mean.  When children are inundated with theories of gender confusion, they seek to redefine male and female.  They redefine marriage.  They redefine life and search for something meaningful to alleviate their confusion and frustration. What they need is absolute truth.   What tool is being used to confuse the confused – “Words.” Words that are redefined and reoriented to achieve an agenda.

Do words mean anything anymore?   Yes, if we are seekers of truth.  No, if we only desire to advance an ideology.  Words are useful tools to reveal the truth and equally useful to advance misinformation and lies.   I pray that we will return to rational sanity in this world.  Without God, we are like rudderless ships on a raging sea.

The Harris Plan of Destruction…


The immediate question that comes to mind is, “Is Kamala Harris intentionally trying to destroy America?”  I believe I know the answer, but based on her incredible ignorance about government and economics, I am willing to say, “I do not know.”   At the end of the day, intentional or unintentional destruction achieves the same result—the destruction and Loss of the Republic.

Therefore, I cannot and will not vote for her or any of the Leftists, Progressives, Liberal, or Globalist Socialists.  You may hate the GOP candidate so much that you are willing to ignore facts, records, and the clear and present dangers embodied in the Democratic Platform.  If that is the case, you will be incensed by what I am going to say.  However, as you have a God-given and Constitutional right to believe what you believe, so do I. 

Even her own party is now begging her not to release her policy agenda before the election.  We officially have a Nancy Pelosi candidate – “We have to elect her to find out who she is.”  No, I do not want her elected and will do everything I can to prevent that from happening.  I may lose friends, become estranged from family members, and become alienated from the church fellowship, but the danger is so ominous I cannot be silent.  Sometimes, to say nothing is to give silent consent, and I dare not do that in this situation.

Kamala Harris is following the Joe Biden campaign strategy and avoids the media, usually her allies.  Why?  There are many possible reasons, but one is that even her own media questions her economic policy.  She has published numerous socialist-style price control plans, subsidies for homeowners, and two policies that copy the Trump-Vance plan: a child tax credit and no tax on tips.  Imagine that!

Her history and that of those she is closely aligned with is to say whatever they believe the voters want to hear and then, once elected, abandon any positive pledges and pursue the leftist socialist agenda.  This is no different.  When the propaganda arms of the Democrats declare that Harris’ economic plans are nothing more than ‘gimmicks’ and are ‘not sensible,’ you have to wonder what is going on.  Are the media finally coming to grips with reality and willing to abandon the Democrats?  I doubt it, so something else must be in the works. 

Her plan would put the power of prices in the hands of the unelected Federal Trade Commission and allow them to decide what grocery stores can charge for bread, eggs, butter, etc.  You cannot claim to be historically informed if you think that is a good idea.  Those things have been the earmarks of communist regimes through the ages.  They do not work and will potentially result in ‘Bread Lines.’   Does that sound good?   Please do not say yes!

The Left and some RHINOs are vilifying J.D. Vance, and their favorite term for him is “weird.”  Vance was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth and did not live ‘privileged.’  Imagine a man who served in the Marines, finished college in two years, went to Yale Law School, became the editor of the Yale Law Journal, and wrote a best seller about his life.  He was a clerk for a federal judge, had experience in the tech industry and investing, and became a U.S. Senator.  That sounds anything but ‘weird’ unless you are from the party and do not know what a woman is.

She made a public appearance, and her speech sounded like an ad for the Trump campaign. She admitted the out-of-control prices her administration caused and said she would fix it once she was president rather than doing something now. Wait? What? Why not now?

Let me offer this from a CNN commentator, Scott Jennings – “Harris’ price control plan will cause ‘bread lines’ and recreated ‘The Walking Dead’ economy.”  Wow!  He said, “If you like bread lines, product shortages, black markets, hoarding, and if you want to create the happy economic conditions of ‘The Walking Dead, ‘ then Harris has a plan for you! “  He admitted that it is not price gouging at the grocery store but inflation that is the culprit.  The cause is the policies of the Biden-Harris administration.  She is Vice President now; if she had a plan to fix it, NOW would be the time to begin.  Why in January 2025?  Because she knows she will do NOTHING!

Not to beat a dead horse, but Kamala Harris is either economically illiterate or she is incredibly sinister, or both.  If elected and she is able to enact her plan, the American economic system will be history, and America will be plunged into chaos with looting, rioting, and marauding bands of terrorists seeking to take what any of us have.   Her agenda will create the necessity of Marshal Law, and maybe that is the plan.

She was the number one cheerleader in the trillions of inflationary spending that created this mess.  She is complicit in the destruction and needs to be held accountable.  If anyone’s dislike or hate for Donald J. Trump enables them to vote for Harris and the Left blindly, I weep for you!  The policies of the Left and this administration are directly opposed to many biblical precepts, and on that principle alone, I cannot vote for them. 

I am pro-America, pro-life, and pro-God. I am also pro-Constitution and pro-law and Order. I am a natural-born American, a Christian, a father, a grandfather, and a Vietnam Veteran. I stand staunchly for Faith, Family, and Freedom. I plead with you to examine the facts honestly, evaluate the agenda and platform, and vote for America in November!

CLOWARD-PIVEN – – The Continuing Destructive Philosophy of Liberalism…


I am resurrecting ancient political history. Let me reiterate what I have been saying lately: God must be our primary focus first, or we lose sight of the eternal and most important.  If we focus on politics, we will be tainted by the slime of political corruption and lower our standards to the world’s standards.  If we focus on God, His Kingdom, and being the people He desires us to be, we will become salt and light in a darkened world and influence our surroundings and environments.  We should be elements of change for good, not influenced by the bad of this world.

I want my life to demonstrate God’s love in all things and at all times. I want to become God’s righteousness in Christ Jesus manifested to the world. I want to be a man after His own heart and abide in Him and His word in me. 

However, in our focus on God and the things of God, we dare not be oblivious to the issues in our world societally, politically, or spiritually.  If we know what is happening, we are better equipped to pray targeted prayers and pull-down strongholds.  Therefore, today, I want to remind you of some things we can and must commit to fervent prayer.

It has been suggested, and rightly so, that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are President Cloward and Vice President Piven regarding where America is heading governmentally.  If that theory is correct, and she becomes president, we are not just in a fight beyond all the fights we have endured in the history of our Republic, including the Revolutionary War. We are fighting for survival, not just to get through a difficult time politically. 

Let me briefly rehearse the ‘Cloward-Piven’ political strategy so we will all be on the same page. It is a strategy of calculated chaos to achieve a political end. Columbia University Professors Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven’s theory was published in the extremely far-left news magazine The Nation in 1966. 

Their goal, and I believe the goal of this administration and the democrats, is to create a chaotic condition politically. That chaotic condition would provide the pathway resulting in legislation being signed into law that would guarantee an annual income, believing it would end poverty.  Guaranteed annual income for EVERYONE?  Who would own everything and everyone if that became a reality?  THE GOVERNMENT!

As I look back over the past almost four years, I see the incredibly dangerous attempts by the government to seize power. The imported Chinese coronavirus was a major test. As I watched and watched, I cringed! The events directly connected to that pandemic have been questionable elections that, in my view, clearly involved fraud, cheating, and more. 

Governmental control in America has shifted to the Left dramatically, and the dictatorial actions of local, state, and national officials have been alarming.  It all happened with little protest from the sheep, and the only protestors were those rioting because of some real or fictional social injustices.

The Cloward-Piven objective was to create massive chaos and turmoil.  In their own words, “A massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls.”  That is not the end of their objective, for they desired that action be followed by “A federal program of income redistribution to elevate the poor en masse from poverty.”  Again, if the government takes all we have and redistributes it to whomever and wherever they deem fit, who owns it and us?

We witnessed the draconian lockdowns and the closures of businesses, schools, churches, etc.  That prompted the ruling class to spend trillions of dollars we do not have to alleviate the problem created by the government.  They attempted to throw monopoly money at the problem and repair the damage they did.  Imagine that!

Much of the ‘so-called’ COVID stimulus package and the Harris economic plan is a massive income redistribution effort.  They seek to take from the producers and supply sustenance to the non-producers.  The non-producers’ situation is either the result of their own decisions or through the diktats of the powers running various governmental entities.  It is designed to reduce the ‘middle class’ to a ‘dependency class,’ thereby gaining more control of our lives.

The Cloward-Piven plan defines a crisis as “a publicly visible disruption in some institutional sphere.”  Their plan is to create a crisis is to utilize a spontaneous outbreak of violence or through a planned assault using demonstrations, riots, and protests to generate the desired institutional disruption or bring unrecognized disruption to the public square.  It is insurrection and subversion at its core.  They will utilize any event to launch their creation of a crisis.

I suggest that the pre-planned event at the Capitol on January 6th created a false panic quickly seized upon by the political ruling class to step up their seizure of control.  Congress rubber-stamped an election that demanded investigation due to the known anomalies and disparities in the election and the myriad of sworn affidavits. 

The evidence demanded a thorough investigation, but questioning the election was deemed un-American, insurrectionist, and bordered on treason.  The Democrats have been seeking to decertify the Iowa congressional election won by a Republican.  Hypocrisy?  No, it is beyond that and is diabolical.

Cloward-Piven did not begin with Donald Trump, but the idea was given birth during FDR’s New Deal and then given full impetus in the 1960s when it was given a name.  The plan includes Medicare, Medicaid, and the Great Society welfare programs. 

  • We have watched government agencies strangle the republic, destroy innovation, and attempt to impede the Free Enterprise System. 
  • We have engaged in seemingly endless wars expansion of programs such as food stamps, Medicaid, and other social welfare programs. 
  • We are allowing the destruction of our Republic from within.  Who needs enemies from abroad when we have those successfully cracking the pillars of liberty at home?

Their goal was to have, and we are there, a majority of Americans receiving benefits from the government.  A crisis, real or manufactured, led to the creation of those programs.  Seniors and the poor were deemed unable to afford medical care; therefore, we created Medicare and Medicaid.  They seek to create paranoia and fear at the ballot box, strip people of reason, and relegate them to emotional responses and votes.  They have to bring down the current system of economics for their plan to succeed in the total takeover, and we are dangerously near that precipice today.

In some ways, it seems that Donald Trump never had a chance. It allowed the Deep State and Swamp to test their strategies to weaponize the government against all political opposition.  The H.R.1 bill was designed to place the final nail in the coffin of any semblance of free and fair elections in America.  Trump was a speed bump on the Cloward-Piven expressway. Over the past four years with him out of their way, it has been full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes.

We are being ruled not by elected representation but by a senile old man signing executive orders like they were autographs at a rock concert.  He signs whatever is placed in front of him, and I do not believe he has the mental acuity to know what he is doing, if he even cares.  The COVID pandemic provided a speedway for them to implement their agenda, and most Americans have passively complied without voting to stop them or protesting to their elected officials.  That will result in our destruction.

Those who have been the producers will eventually tire of rowing the ship of economics. They will tire of watching the fruit of their labors stolen and given to the non-producers against their wills.  They will tire of watching the ruling class live lavishly while struggling to make ends meet.  When that happens, the proverbial overweight lady will be singing, and freedom will exit stage left. God help us to awaken from our slumber before it is too late.

Morality in America (Politically and Societally)


I realize that what I am about to say regarding the moral condition in America today may rankle some on both sides of the political aisle.  However, I believe that if we honestly evaluate today’s societal fabric, we will find much common ground for this discussion.  Morality has always been an issue, but it seems we have drifted farther from biblical morality and ethics than ever.

The Bible speaks about the conditions of the ‘Last Days,’ and those depraved conditions are prevalent in today’s society, possibly more than at any time in human history.   In many ways, the deviation from biblical morality and ethics appears more egregious than any previous societies, including Sodom, Gomorrah, and the Days of Noah.  You may disagree, but that is my perspective.

Our founding fathers saw the dangers of declining morality, greed, avarice, and politicization of everything within our government and society.  Some of their observations are almost prophetic and quite evangelistic.

John Adams declared, “It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand.  The only foundation for a free constitution is pure virtue.” He also said, “If ‘Thou Shalt Not Covet,’ and ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal,’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society, before it can be civilized or made free.” That is an amazing but accurate observation by our 2nd President.

Samuel Adams declared, “Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.” Charles Carroll echoed those sentiments, saying, “Without morals, a republic cannot subsist any length of time.” Benjamin Franklin agreed, saying, “Only virtuous people are capable of freedom.  As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

One of the most powerful and revelatory statements was made by John Winthrop.  He said, “Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled either by a power within them or by a power without them; either by the Word of God or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible or the bayonet.” 

The recognized Father of our Country and 1st President, George Washington, declared, “Virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government.” His writings indicate that he believed that the republic would quickly spiral into tyranny, chaos, or both without a populace grounded in morality.  He insisted that habits of virtue were as critical as the checks and balances of government.

James Madison candidly addressed the issue, saying, “To suppose any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without virtue in the people is a chimerical idea.” He recognized that no matter how detailed or wise the constitution might be, it would fail without personal virtue and morality by the citizens and representatives of government.

The Bible prophesied the conditions that would become prevalent in the ‘Last Days.’ I realize that some reading this do not believe the Bible or in God.  However, I ask you to hear what the Bible declared would be the visible characteristics of people in the era identified as the ‘Last Days.’ If you are still convinced that those conditions do not define our day, I will move on and ask you to do the same.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 – “You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days, there will be very difficult times.  For people will love only themselves and their money.  They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful.  They will consider nothing sacred.  They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control.  They will be cruel and hate what is good.  They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.  They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.”

Let’s break that down:

  • The ‘Last Days’ would be exceedingly difficult times.
  • People would be so filled with themselves that they would have little concern for others, and money or possessions would become a predominant pursuit.
  • People would be boastful and proud – narcissistic, arrogant, ungrateful, filled with an entitlement mentality, and irreverent.
  • Nothing would be sacred, and the prevalent attitude would be rejecting absolute truth.
  • Love would devolve into hate, which would be society’s predominant characteristic. 
  • People would become cruel and hate what is good.  The time would be marked by those who call good evil and evil good.
  • Loyalty would become secondary to personal ambition.
  • Pleasure would take precedence over God and purity.

The corruption in government is deeply troubling, but beyond that, in today’s America, many city streets are unsafe for anyone, especially for the elderly, women, and children, to be on at night and often even in the daylight hours.  Road rage and hate that is deemed justifiable inspires some to become violent, having lost any sense of the sanctity of life.  If you disagree with their ideology, you are a candidate for extermination. 

Issues such as abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, greed, corruption, and rejection of any mention of God in the public square are things our founders feared would destroy America.  They were justifiably concerned.  We have ignored the issues and insisted that the clergy never mention them in the pulpit (demanding political correctness and the fallacious idea of separation of church and state).  Bill Gothard of the Basic Institute of Youth Conflicts said, “What we allow in moderation, our children will do in excess.” 

I realize that this sermonette may not be received by all who read it, but without a return to our moral moorings and a reconstituting of biblical morality and ethics, America is doomed to unwholesome change that can and could destroy her. If you believe in God and pray, I ask you to join me as we intercede for America, the Church, individual souls, and the world. The ballot box will not solve our problems in this world; ONLY GOD CAN!

What Happened to ‘We the People?’


The founding fathers who drafted the American Constitution valued a Republic with a Republican System of Government. They fervently believed that this would require an involved citizenry who gave constant oversight to those entrusted with governance. They did not believe this task could be delegated to a select few people, namely politicians. 

Even the colonial ministers were actively involved in the process, speaking from their pulpits about the virtues and evils of various government acts. They believed it was their duty to inform and forewarn their parishioners. The current state of affairs results from leaving politics solely to the politicians, a situation in which we all have a role. 

I am not advocating that ministers become political analysts or activists but that they speak to the issues identified in the Bible and when those issues endanger society. We have all heard the phrase “A government of the people, for the people, and by the people” or some variation of that. Usually, it is attributed to Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg address as the originator. 

In 1850, in a speech to a New England Anti-Slavery Convention, Theodore Parker, an American preacher and social reformer, declared: “…There is what I call the American idea…This idea demands, as the proximate organization thereof, a democracy, that is, a government of all the people, by all the people, for all the people; of course, a government after the principles of eternal justice, the unchanging law of God; for shortness’ sake, I will call it the idea of Freedom…”

Parker was likely inspired by British politician Benjamin Disraeli, who expressed a similar sentiment in his novel ‘Vivian Grey’ in 1826.  He said, “… all power is a trust; that we are accountable for its exercise; that from the people and for the people all springs, and all must exist.”  The idea of self-government demands the involvement of the citizenry.  In a speech to the U.S. Senate in 1830, Daniel Webster said, “…It is, Sir, the people’s Constitution, the people’s Government, made for the people, made by the people, and answerable to the people. The people of the United States have declared that this Constitution shall be the supreme law. We must either admit the proposition or dispute their authority.”

Some even attribute the phrase or idea to John Wycliffe’s prologue in his 1384 translation of the Bible.  This seems to be a misapplication of his narrative.  I mention this only to suggest that self-governance and involvement by the people being governed is not a new phenomenon but an ancient one.  Yet, in 2024, many are so repulsed by politics that they wash their hands of responsibility and let the politicians devour our Republic.  Is that God’s plan?

Our founding fathers, including Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Madison, and countless others, believed that the Republic’s hope of survival and longevity was active participation by the people.  Our Republic eagerly sought the involvement and guidance provided by the clergy.  Since politics is a part of life, and what the government does affects our lives, I believe that believers must be informed and, where needed, vocal and active in addressing the dangers and values in governmental edicts and actions.

I am not suggesting that ministers become political activists.  NO!  The primary duty of the clergy is the gospel, but that is the prime duty of all believers, according to Matthew 28 and Mark 16. 

Thomas Jefferson believed that an informed and enlightened electorate was critical to the survival of the Republic. James Madison believed that civic participation was essential and indispensable. He believed an informed citizenry was a safeguard against tyranny. Alexander Hamilton called for active participation by the people and contended that apathy was a threat to the survival of the Republic.  John Adams believed that liberty and duty were intertwined, declaring, “Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people.”

The Bible teaches that we are our brothers’ keepers, and if we see danger, we are to warn of that danger.  Additionally, the strong are to help the weak, and we are to love one another.  If I bury my head in the sand, ignore the dangers, and insist that those in the church leave the politics to the politicians and erect an impenetrable wall of separation between God and government, is that evidence of love? 

I realize that I am opening myself up to being severely criticized and even judged as a minister who has abandoned his call and become a politician. I hope that is not the view! I believe the Bible literally and care enough about this generation and successive generations that I am willing to be targeted in order to sound the alarm when it needs to be sounded.

Today, the current state of affairs in Washington is screaming for an infusion of citizen activity and citizen oversight of the government.  We need to be aware of what the politicians are doing, planning, and hoping to do.  Freedom comes with an incredibly high price tag and requires our investment to preserve it and pass it on to successive generations.

As a believer, a minister, an American citizen, a Vietnam veteran, and a patriot, I ask that those who pray join me and the thousands, if not millions, like me who are interceding for America and the world.  We have a world to win, and having a Free Republic in America will be beneficial!
