Vision Is Required

January 1, 2025, marked the beginning of what could be the most wonderful time in America, or it could become a time of utter chaos and destruction.  I wish I could tell you with absolute certainty that this year will see a return to our government following foundational constitutional principles.  I do not believe that those desiring the fundamental transformation of America will cooperate and that the Trump administration will fight an uphill battle.

Those on the Left and some of the Establishment adherents on the Right are determined to protect their ole-boy system and the positions of power and personal prosperity.   They view us (the people) as useful tools to achieve their goal and, therefore, only important in providing funds and votes.

Those of us who desire limited government, the guarantee of our unalienable rights granted to us by God and preserved in the Constitution, and having a Constitutional Republic are viewed as members of the ‘Flat Earth Society.’     If the Trump team can accomplish some of their objectives well, it will see a return to a more livable economy.  The easing of energy and the cost of goods and services should facilitate the easing of some of the societal tensions that are now being experienced.

If the Trump administration has the backing of Congress, we will be less threatened by international terroristic activity.  We will see a much more secure border, reducing the influx of drugs, human trafficking, and disease.  We will have a more thorough vetting of those entering our country and thereby reduce the threat of terrorism.  It will not eliminate those things but produce a reduction.

We will observe an effort to de-weaponize the DOJ, FBI, CIA, and IRS.  Those agencies will be less able to harass and intimidate those who do not support the Leftist agenda.  Our rights will become more secure as the courts receive an influx of constitutionalists and adherents to the rule of law.  It could be a very prosperous time in America.  Again, I said, “Could be.”

I wish I were more optimistic, but with Congress’s history and the immensity of our federal government’s bureaucracy, it will be a long fight. The Establishment leadership in the GOP has a demonstrated track record of being more akin to the ideological views of the Left than Constitutional Conservatism.

Can we fix that?  Yes, but not in one election cycle.  We must organize at the grass-roots level and invest ourselves individually in the effort to restore America to Constitutionalism.   The question is, “Are we up to the task?”  That remains to be seen.

Now that I’ve thrown down the gauntlet, what will I do personally?  Am I going to speak and write about what we should do while sitting on the sideline, or will I get my feet wet and hands dirty and dive into the filthy water of the political arena locally?

I should stop speaking and writing if I am unwilling to invest personally. If I am not willing to accept the challenge and responsibility of being a voice of reason, it would be hypocritical and reactionary rather than proactive for me to say anything.

I view inactivity as perpetuating the problem rather than pursuing the solution.   Therefore, I am researching how to become involved locally at the precinct level.    I do not feel that my purpose is to be a candidate for political office but to have a voice in the platform and choice of candidates.

Martin Luther King said, “I have a dream…”    I also dream of a restored, revitalized constitutional republic in America.  I dream of a nation that returns to its moral moorings and to God.  I have a vision of an America that is focused on solutions rather than personality preferences.

Is it possible?  I cannot say definitively that it is.   However, I refuse to be deterred from my belief that it is and my willingness to invest all to ensure it.  That is my commitment for 2025 and beyond.   If we fail, our posterity will pay an extremely high price for the loss of Freedom.  I am not saying we should abandon all hope, but rather that we should, with the hope, develop a spirit of 1776 for Freedom.

We cannot see a restored America at the ballot box alone, but on our knees before Almighty God!   I believe that the number one problem in America and the world is the condition of the human heart.  I believe that if we follow the directive of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and make Matthew 6:33 our foundation, we can see restoration, renewal, and revival in America.  I hope you see that and will join us in prayer and commitment to fight for Faith, Family, and Freedom.

May God bless you and guard, guide, and govern America again!

We Dare Not Forget A Real Danger

The old saying “a rose is a rose by any other name, it is still a rose” applies to the barbaric practices of the Islamic Jihadists.  You can attempt to put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.  You can call evil good, and it remains evil.  You can call an outhouse a portal of waste elimination, and the smell is still the same.  Barbarism is barbarism whether those in positions of power and authority acknowledge it or not.

We have many dangers facing America, but the one that I want to address in this blog is Terrorism.   It is a genuine threat; the danger has increased exponentially with the non-existent border.   You can argue for an open border and ignore the dangers.  The influx of drugs, criminals, gangs, human trafficking, and disease are also issues of concern.  Those are topics for another discussion.

The Islamists are not the first in history to be barbaric, but they are as bad as any in recorded history.  Barbarians have no apparent conscience and genuinely believe they have the right to do what they do.  They continue until they are stopped by a force greater than their own.  When I review recorded history, I find there is much disagreement as to what cultures, nations, or societies were the most barbaric, but among virtually every account, I find the following listed:

THE CELTS…

They were prominent Europeans in the 7th and 8th centuries BC.  The Romans called them Galli, and the Greeks called them Keltoi, meaning “barbarians.”  Their maximum expansion was in the 3rd-5th centuries BC and occupied much of Europe north of the Alps.

The Celts seemed to have a thing for severed heads and, after the battle, would collect heads, take them home, and decorate their houses with them.  They believed that the head held the soul, and by taking the head, they took the soul of the one killed.  They would often paint themselves blue and fight naked as a supreme insult, saying, “I have no fear of you, and to prove it will stand before you naked and exposed.”

THE AZTECS…

They held the belief that every 52 years, the world would end unless the gods were strong enough, and the best way to strengthen the gods was a steady diet of human sacrifice with a mixture of cannibalism.  Their practices were beyond horrific.

THE ASSYRIANS…

They hailed from ancient Mesopotamia, and upon discovering iron and how to use it to form weapons, they became a terror of the region.  Iron was much more durable than bronze and made the Assyrians formidable foes.

King Ashurnasirpal said:  “I built a pillar over against his city gate, and I flayed all the chief men who had revolted, and I covered the pillar with their skins; some I walled up within the pillar, some I impaled upon the pillar on stakes, and others I bound to stakes round the about the pillar; many within the border of my own land I flayed, and I spread their skins upon the walls; and I cut off the limbs of the officers, of the royal officers who had rebelled.”

It seemed to be more than their way of putting fear in the hearts of their enemies.  They seemed to enjoy the sport of barbarism.

THE SPARTANS…

They took babies they considered imperfect and tossed them over the cliffs to die on the rocks below.  They bathed newborn babies in wine to see if they were strong enough to survive.  Every male was a soldier and fought until they could retire at about age 60, which some have equated to living to 400 today based on what they went through.  If you died in battle, your grave was marked because you were a hero, but otherwise, there was no notice or mention of you.  Their law did not allow them to beat their slaves; it required it.  Their barbarism and fierceness were well-known and documented throughout the world.

THE MONGOLS…

It is estimated that Genghis Khan and other Mongols killed upwards of 40 million people.  They conquered anything and everything in their path and slaughtered everyone in the city except for the women they opted to keep as sex slaves.  It is recorded that during an invasion of India, a Mongol general built a pyramid in front of the walls of Delhi out of human heads.  He used 90,000 of them to accomplish his architecture.  They force-marched vast crowds of refugees before their armies as human shields.  At one point, it was reported that they controlled as much as 12 million square miles and were ruthless.

The closest we have today to the Mongols are the Islamic Jihadists.  Yet, the Obama and Biden administrations found calling them what they are impossible.  Those administrations denied that groups like ISIS, Hamas, and Hezbollah were Islamic and continually made excuses for their heinous acts.   It is not climate change, lack of jobs, lack of education, or lack of tolerance that makes them what they are.   It is their Belief.   It is rooted in their interpretation of the Quran.

Thomas Jefferson challenged Tripoli’s ambassador to Great Britain as to what right his nation had to attack American ships and enslave her citizens and why the Muslims held such hostility to this new nation.  The answer is chilling.   Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the ambassador, replied that Islam:

“Was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Qur’an, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

Sadly, America paid ransom to these barbarians for 15 more years until Jefferson became President.  When Tripoli’s Pasha (leader) sent a demand for payment of $225,000 and $25,000 per year, Jefferson refused.  The Pasha cut down the American flag and declared war on the United States.

Jefferson determined that this action be met with force and, with the approval of Congress, ordered the American ships to seize all vessels and goods that belonged to the Pasha.  When they realized the United States was serious, Algiers and Tunis abandoned the war, and the Americans defeated Tripoli.  This is why the line “to the shores of Tripoli” was added to the Marine Corps hymn.

Jefferson and previous presidents understood that you meet barbarism and terrorism with force rather than attempting to appease them with rhetoric and temerity.  Hopefully, we will stand strong and never bow to the demands of terrorists and meet their threats with strength.  May we never bow to the demands of domestic terrorists who seek to strip us of our rights and liberties.  Let’s keep the Republic strong!

God help us wake up, stand up, speak up, and come to the rescue of the Republic and the world in the fight against barbarism.    God bless you, and God bless America!

Is It Christian to Resist Government Tyranny?

I have sometimes been criticized and even vilified by fellow Christians for speaking against the government and government officials when I believe they are violating ‘moral decency,’ ‘ethical principles,’ ‘biblical guidelines,’ and ‘the Constitution.’   I believe I am on solid ground scripturally, morally, ethically, and constitutionally in my position.

However, some do not and adamantly insist that I am in violation of biblical guidelines.  Their favorite passage is Romans 13.  They insist that this is a direct command against what I do.   I want to look at that and ask a few questions in my consideration of resisting governmental tyranny as a Christian.

To be fair and honest, I must cite the biblical passage.

Romans 13:1-4 – “Let every soul be subject to the higher powers.  For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.  Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.  For rulers, they are not a terror to good works, but to the evil.  Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power?  Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good.  But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

Hopefully, we can agree upon a workable definition of ‘rebellion.’   I offer this definition, and hopefully, you can accept it.  “Rebellion is the disobedience to a lawful order and a lawful authority.”   If a police car turns on its red light, I must stop.   That would be a lawful order by a lawful authority.  Likewise, can we agree that “Rebellion IS NOT disobedience to an unlawful order or unlawful authority”?

Not to make this a sermon, but I ask you to consider Acts 5.  Peter and the other apostles were called on the carpet before the ‘governing authority’ and told to ‘cease preaching Jesus.’   Their response was, “NO, we ought to obey God rather than man.”  I ask, “Were they wrong?”

Also, when the Founding Fathers and the Colonists, including many in the ministry, stood against the Tyranny of the British Crown because, in their view, the Crown had violated their God-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, were they wrong?

The Declaration of Independence states:

“Any form of government becomes destructive of these ends; it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute New Government.”

It seems clear that they believed that if the government violated man’s inalienable rights, it was okay to protest, criticize, and even abolish that government.   The list of grievances against the Crown was lengthy, and many preachers stood in their pulpits and encouraged the colonists to ‘resist.’   Some proclaimed that their resistance was obedience to God and His Word!

I contend that Romans 13 cannot be used as an excuse for allowing despotism and the violation of basic human rights.  I suggest that the Bible directs us to ‘resist’ such a government and encourages people to ‘resist.’

If, as some have insisted, Christians cannot resist government ever, then what shall we do with America?   The American Revolution clearly demonstrated resistance to the government and authority.   The British Crown was the official government and had official rule over them.

Yet, the colonists spoke out, criticized, and united in open resistance to secure independence and freedom.  If we accept the premise that we are forbidden to do so, the United States of America was formed in direct violation of God’s Word.   That would make it a cursed nation or should be.   I do not believe that premise.   I believe that America has been a blessed nation, and God’s hand can be seen in the liberation of this nation.

How about Nazi Germany?  It was the official elected government of Germany, and Hitler was the official elected leader of that nation.   Yet, preachers such as Karl Barth and Dietrich Bonhoeffer preached against the Nazi regime and Hitler.  Were they wrong?

Should Nazi Germany still be the controlling government of that nation today, even in the face of the horrific atrocities in the holocaust and beyond!  I do not think that, and I do not believe that those who criticize me and other believers for our political involvement believe that either.

Martin Luther King, Jr. resisted the government and the law of the land in his pursuit of ‘Civil Rights.’   Was he wrong?  If Romans 13 forbids us from speaking against the government, he was.  What do we do with the criticism and outcry against those nations with horrible human rights violations and our involvement in any war in history?

Our position as a nation has been that we were opposing evil.  However, if that evil is God’s minister and we are forbidden to stand against it, then we are opposing God and are in the wrong.   I do not believe that, and neither do you.

Yet, when this nation, our leaders, and government violate human rights, trample on our Constitution, and wage war against the Christian faith in its mandates, edicts, and actions, are we to sit silent?  How can I?  How can I watch my fellow citizens be tyrannized regardless of what political party is doing the tyrannizing?  As a follower of Christ, how can I not allow ‘righteous indignation’ to rise in my heart and cry out against Wickedness and Evil?

We may differ on what we believe to be wicked and evil.  That is a legitimate argument, but to contend that we are forbidden to speak against what we believe to be direct violations of our American Constitution and God’s Word and in violation of our God-given rights and freedom, I believe, is a wrong position.

  • I pray for those that are in power.
  • I pray for their souls.
  • I pray for their enlightenment.
  • I pray that God will guide their actions and footsteps into His chosen paths.
  • I pray they come to Christ and allow morality to govern their lives.
  • I pray for them and pray for this nation, but I cannot sit silent when I see evil running rampant.

If I remain silent, then I believe that the words of Ezekiel in Ezekiel 3:18-20 apply to me, and God will hold me accountable for the blood of the innocent that I failed to warn.

If you believe I am wrong, pray for my enlightenment.  If this enables you to understand why I am who I am and why I do what I do, then God bless you and pray for me.  I want nothing but the best for this nation, our people, and the world.   I wish no ill upon anyone and hate no one, but I must resist evil.

God bless you, and God bless America.

When Does Fed Up Equate to Cleaning House?

Sometimes, I play the ‘what if’ game and try to imagine what the Founding Fathers and authors of the American Constitution would say and do if they came on the scene today. That has proven to be both an intriguing and deeply frustrating exercise.

I am convinced they would deem it so contrary to their desire for a non-professional system of public servants called legislators and Presidents that they would actively denounce what transpires.  I am convinced that they would wonder, as do I, why so much money is willingly poured into securing an office that produces such a paltry amount of income compared to what is being spent.

I am convinced they would logically conclude that it has to do with Power, Influence, and Control rather than “Public Service” and would be Irate!   I am convinced that they would have much the same reaction as Jesus concerning the money changers in the temple and John the Baptist to the Pharisees who came to him to be baptized.

I am convinced that our politicians’ motives would be highly suspect.  I am convinced they would likely urge the populace to Clean House at least every term or two and send fresh new blood to Washington. I am convinced they would do so, hoping to convey the message that those elected officials’ responsibility and duty was to represent the people, protect and defend the United States, and honor the Constitution.

Today, political action committees and an innumerable number of special interest groups are clamoring for the attention of all candidates, especially those they deem likely to be elected.   They seek to create a sense of obligation or gratitude on the part of the candidate so they will be favorable to their positions, agendas, and/or goals.  In short, they are buying politicians.  What better way to ensure that you get “inside information” and “favoritism” in negotiations and anchor yourself and your business interests in the “good ole boy” or “cronyism” system that is prevalent in DC today?

If you are fed up, as I am, with the current way of doing business in Washington DC and desire to see America restored to its core principles and values, then it is time to awaken from our slumber and do our due diligence to determine which candidates are best suited to fulfill that dream.

We may have to accept lesser qualified individuals initially, but if we stay the course, we can, in a few election cycles, convey the message that:

  • We Demand a Return to America’s Roots.
  • We demand that the Constitution be followed.
  • We demand that the rule of law be adhered to.
  • We demand that life be given the sanctity that God gives it.
  • We demand no more career politicians in Washington or the State Houses.
  • We demand that God be put back in our schools, our churches be allowed to worship freely as guaranteed by the Constitution, and as the Founders, the wisdom of the Bible be sought in making laws and developing policies for this nation.

It seems that the only religion that the argument of “Separation of Church and State” ever arises is with regard to Christianity.  We seem to be the only ones the government believes are guilty of “offending” others.  We are those targeted by an overly aggressive desire that we become PC.  They have sought to boot us from Public Schools, Public Buildings, and Public Grounds.

Sadly, many Christians have bought the flawed argument that government must be “secular only” and the Church “dare not engage in anything political.”  That is foreign to the Bible and the ideology and actions of the Founders and the Constitution.

The First Amendment does not mandate a separation of Church and State; it mandates that the Federal Government will not establish a National Religion and give it preferential treatment over other religions.

I am a Christian and an American citizen, and I have a Life that cannot be compartmentalized into “work life, business life, social life, spiritual life, and political life.”  I am not a cat; I do not have nine lives.  I have A Life, and that life affects everything around me, including politics.  That is why I am so driven to educate all I can and see America restored.  I do it for the sake of Freedom and the Kingdom of God!

God bless you, and God bless America!

The First Amendment and Our Founding Fathers

I grow increasingly concerned that many today do not have a working knowledge of our Constitution or our true history.  They have been indoctrinated in the Revisionism History that is skewed to advance an ideology that would be foreign to our Founders.

Many do not realize that the “First Amendment” does not include the phrase “Separation of Church and State.”  It reads: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The idea that Christianity cannot be promoted and preached in the public square is not a part of that great document.  Yet, the left and some on the right want to contend that Religion must be excluded from all public facilities.  No, the founders wanted to ensure that the Government would not establish a State Religion and favor it above any other belief or church.

Many of the founders encouraged and actively engaged in preaching, teaching, and promoting the Bible in governmental functions and deliberations.  I truly wish that Mr. Jefferson, Franklin, Rush, Paine, Washington, and others could speak to us in the flesh today and clear the air on that subject once and for all!

The first public school law was passed in 1642.   For 350-plus years, a Biblical worldview was taught in public schools.   Science, Law, History, and Theology all conformed to God’s standard.   In 1963, the beginning of the end for a moral America came; God was officially removed from the public schools.  Would the founding fathers of America agree with this?

I suggest we go to the Bible and see what it says about governments and rulers.

  • Isaiah, Prophet of God 700 B.C.  ” For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee (God) shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.” Isaiah 60:12
  • Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ. A.D. 57: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher power.  For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” The Epistle of Paul to the Romans.
  • David, King of Israel. 980 B.C.  “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” 2 Samuel 23:3

Documents like the Mayflower Compact included God and the Bible intricately in its construction.  Christopher Columbus, in 1492, continually referred to God in what he said and in the naming of places he discovered.

William Bradford, governor of the Plymouth colony, said:  “They (the Pilgrims) had a great hope and inward zeal of laying some good foundation or at least to make some way there unto for the propagating and advancing of the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in those remote parts of the world, yea though they should be but even a stepping stone unto others for the performing of so great a work.” In his later years he wrote with “grief and sorrow” of the growing secularism and the loss of “constant faithfulness.”

Even more compelling is the author of the First Amendment, Fisher Aimes, who authored an article called “School Books” in the Pladium magazine in January 1801: “We have trouble in the classrooms, we are putting in new textbooks.  Nothing wrong with new books, but we are spending more time on them than the Bible; it is drifting to the back of the classroom.  We cannot tolerate this in American education.  The Bible’s morals are pure; its examples are captivating and noble.”

The list goes on and on with their repeated desire to have God deeply involved in the lives of the people and the construction of the Government.  They believed our Republic was doomed to failure without God as the foundation.  So, where are we today?

After taking God out of the public schools, banning Him from our public institutions and facilities, and making it known that His influence is not welcome in government deliberations, we are on the brink of losing this country!

Does that suggest that maybe we have made a big mistake and need God restored to every facet of our lives, including Government?  I don’t think so; I know so!  I am not suggesting that America become a Theocracy but that we return to our moral moorings; they proved beneficial and will again.

God bless you, and God bless America!

The Term Professional Politician  Was Anathema to the Founding Fathers

The longer I observe politics in America, the more concerned I become about “Professional Politicians.”  Some holding offices in our government have never held a job in the private sector or created and run a business.   All they know is politics, and most of them entered that arena as less than millionaires, but many have become extremely wealthy on meager salaries.   Imagine that!

In 1782, Benjamin Franklin spoke of the differences between America and the statist bureaucracies of Europe.   Unlike in Europe, there were few political offices in America.   None of them was profitable enough to be attractive to men of greed.   All politicians were expected to earn their living in the private sector.    The Political office was to be chosen not for profit but for the purpose of sacrificial service.

In a very un-PC way, Franklin asserted, “Industry and constant employment are great preservatives of the morals and virtue of a nation.  Hence, bad examples to youth are more rare in America, which must be a comfortable consideration to parents.”

According to Dr. Foster, however, Franklin’s “industry and constant employment” have been misdirected by a professional political class that systematically ignores the limitations imposed upon them by God and the Constitution:

“Most Americans do not know that their “public servants” actually live in a different world and under different laws than they do.  Federal and state public employees have their own pension plans and health care that guarantees each person hundreds of thousands of dollars in their retirement.  Recent studies reveal that public salaries are nearly double that of the private sector for comparable jobs.  And because of public employee unions, these millions of bureaucrats are promised life-long job security and retirement by age 50-something.  On the other hand, private citizens, by the age of 65, receive a pittance of their contribution to Social Security, virtually no pensions, and Medicare, which is nearly bankrupt.”

Sadly, today, it is so lucrative to hold a political position that millions are spent on an office that supposedly pays 100 grand or so per year. Yet, those who go to Washington may be of meager substance financially but leave there with portfolios in the millions.

The Founders repeatedly made it clear that they wanted no person to become a Permanent Fixture in Public Service regardless of qualifications.  George Washington could have been king, but his desire to see a free republic was greater than any potential ego that he might have possessed, so he refused to serve more than two terms in office.

I believe that is an excellent standard regarding our politicians.  If We, the People, held them to that and sent fresh new blood to Washington after a couple of terms, the Power Mongers would begin to lose their grip on our throats, and we might.   I say “might be able” to finally elect people who truly were Public Servants rather than people who view us as their servants!

That’s my rant for the day; do with it what you will.  God bless you, and God bless America!

The Damage That The Left Has Done to Our Military

I am a Vietnam veteran, a proud former member of the United States Armed Forces, and patriotic to the core of my being.   I have always defended our military and will continue to defend the men and women serving in the rank and file of the various branches of service.  However, I have contended for a long time that beginning with William Jefferson Clinton and the disdain Queen Hillary had for the military, our military brass has become unreliable.

George W. Bush attempted to reconstruct the military and make it viable and a dominant force in the world, as needed.  Barack Hussein Obama came in and, for 8 years, shredded and deconstructed our military, purging top and mid-level brass to become a more liberal and woke force.  Donald John Trump stepped in, and over his 4 years in office, he took great pride and strides in remaking our military.  Now, the Obama and Clinton policies on steroids have been put into motion by the Biden administration.

Sadly, each time a Republican or conservative President attempts to retool our military and bring it up to par, a Democrat comes behind him and dismantles all the good done.  We never fully recoup all the damage done by the Leftists, and in 2021, the new Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, proved to be a man on a mission to fulfill the desires of the Leftists.  His efforts clearly have sought to make our military an extension of their totalitarian desires.   Hopefully, President Trump will be successful in restoring our military; otherwise, we are headed for a disaster of epic proportions.

Secretary Austin and the Biden team exhibited no desire for our military to be or remain the most lethal force in the world, able to deploy at a moment’s notice in defense of America.  I have been deeply concerned about the attitude of some Flag Officers and Secretary Austin’s announced agenda.

The claim of ‘extremism’ in the military and the charge of ‘white supremacy’ is troubling.   The steps taken to enact a military-wide pause are dangerous.   Secretary Austin ordered the military to ‘stand down’ as he and the top-level brass investigated and dealt with the threat posed by white supremacy and similar extremism.  Mr. Secretary, are only whites the issue, or is there potential extremism in others, too?

The ‘stand-down’ was troubling.  Usually, a ‘stand-down’ is a pause in all but absolutely essential operations for 24 hours or so to deal with a particularly critical concern of immediate importance.  It is usually a safety issue, but his orders also included other things.  But, to ‘stand down’ because you deem members of the military who supported Donald Trump dangerous, extremists, and in need of being purged is beyond the pale.   It screams of a desire to create a “Woke” military that is completely committed to the ideology of liberalism and the socialist progressive agenda.

The assertion of extremism was and is unsubstantiated and a slap in the face of every member of our armed forces and all who have served.  We served under oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.   In that respect, we took an oath that, to the death, we would protect the republic from all foreign and domestic enemies.   That would mean that we might hold political views, but in performing our duties, we were apolitical and committed to our mission.  The charge was that a significant number needed to be purged because they did not think or believe like the ‘Woke’ crowd, and Biden’s Secretary of Defense was insulting.

If you examine history, something the Left seems averse to doing, you quickly realize that in September 1934, Adolf Hitler was scheduled to inspect a Jaeger regiment commanded by Colonel Erwin Rommel.  The Nazi security insisted that the politically reliable SS troops be positioned between Hitler and Rommel’s regiment.  To his credit, Rommel said that if that happened, his troops would not be there.  That should have been the response of our American military leaders when Biden and company wanted to restructure our military with party loyalists for his security rather than their designed purpose of defending America.

The desire to purge all Trump supporters from the military was step one toward a totalitarian takeover.   When I consider the ‘stand-down.’   I insist that it was based on fallacious accusations and non-existent issues.  There was no investigation into the potential infiltration of our military by ANTIFA, BLM, and proponents of the Critical Race Theory, which is also insulting.  Those have some documentation, and having domestic terrorists serving in the U.S. military is cause for concern.

Have we been watching a Stalinist, Hitleresque purge of the military?  I am concerned as I examine the documentation of the rapid and aggressive promotions of senior military brass who ascribed to a history devoid of facts and those determined to undermine the ethics and morale of our armed forces.   The placement of true insurrectionists in the upper levels of our military should cause us to take a closer look.

Having served in Vietnam in 1967 and returning to the States, landing in San Francisco in December of that year, I know what it is like to be unwelcome and treated as the enemy for serving my country.   I did not experience that when I returned home to Texas, but I witnessed it first-hand in California, especially among students at Berkeley University.   The chants, slogans, signs, and throwing of feces and other projectiles at wounded returning patriots were disconcerting and infuriating.

Are we seeing an inside-out attempt to make our military a Gestapo-type arm of the Democratic Party and the followers of toxic liberalism?  When former military and CIA officers are insisting that anyone who supports Trump is an insurgent and must be dealt with using counterinsurgency tactics and brute force, I am concerned.  I do not support insurrection from anyone, regardless of their political ideology.  Yet, to treat those in Washington in January as insurgents and disregard the activities and stated objectives of the rioters, looters, and destroyers by ANTIFA, BLM, and other Left-Wing Activists as ‘mostly peaceful protests’ is revealing.

In today’s climate of Political Correctness, I can understand why many would no longer be willing to serve in law enforcement or the military.  If you defend the Constitution as it is written and commit yourself to defending the Constitution and the Rule of Law without prejudice, you are deemed an extremist; who needs that?  However, I plead for all who can and will serve to consider doing so.  We need, no we must have, those who will stand for Right, Life, Liberty, and Freedom to stand.

God bless you, and God bless America!

Revisiting The Prophecy of George Washington

As I begin this and as you read, some will argue that what I will advance is not a prophecy but an opinion.   I won’t argue, but I believe that it has prophetic overtones and, at the least, a dire warning that has gone unheeded by generations following.

Our founding fathers saw the dangers facing the fledgling nation and attempted to give us guidelines and protections that would perpetuate a Republic that enjoyed Constitutionalism and Freedom into perpetuity.   They tried, and we ignored their warnings and prophetic declarations, and the politicians have subverted their attempted protections and guidelines.  In truth, we did it to ourselves!   You may argue it was the politicians, not the people.  Let me argue that the politicians could not have done what they have done if the people had heeded the warnings and demanded the observance of the Constitution.   We slept, and they infringed!

What was the prophecy given by George Washington?   In his farewell speech on September 19, 1796, our country’s first president and father said: “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of right and order which Heaven itself has ordained.  Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion, and morality are indispensable supports.  In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.”  WOW!

He is quoted in Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States and America’s God and Country – “reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in the exclusion of religious principles.  It is substantially true that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government.”

In Proverbs 29:2, we read, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.”  Today, we have those on both sides of the political aisle and ideology who believe that everything of God and the Bible should be eliminated from education and all government institutions.  Washington did not share that view, nor did the other founders, as can be easily identified and quoted.

On June 25, 1962, the United States Supreme Court decided in Engel v. Vitale, 6-1, that a prayer approved by the New York Board of Regents for use in schools violated the First Amendment by constituting an establishment of religion. The following year, in Abington School District v. Schempp, the Court disallowed Bible readings in public schools for similar reasons. That was the culmination of over 100 years of labor by those hating God and the Bible to disallow anything of God and the Bible in education.

Thomas Jefferson lamented, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; His justice cannot sleep forever.”  Noah Webster said, “Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country.  He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice.  As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country.”

We are paying the price of ignoring the warnings of our founders and allowing politicians, activists, and courts to strip God and the Bible from education.  The door that was opened has led to an array of detrimental legislation that has weakened the foundations of our Republic.  We ignored the warnings, believed a lie, and are reaping the harvest of our delusion.

Gouverneur Morris, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, declared, “For avoiding the extremes of despotism or anarchy…the only ground of hope must be on the morals of the people.  I believe that religion is the only solid base of morals and that morals are the only possible support of free governments.  Therefore, education should teach the precepts of religion and the duties of man towards God.”

Benjamin Franklin said, “A Bible and a newspaper in every house, a good school in every district – all studied and appreciated as they merit – are the principal support of virtue, morality, and civil liberty.”

Fischer Ames, considered the author of the First Amendment, supported the Bible in public education.  He said, “[Why] should not the Bible regain the place it once held as a schoolbook?  Its morals are pure, its examples captivating and noble.  The reverence for the Sacred Book that is thus early impressed lasts long and probably, if not impressed in infancy, never takes firm hold of the mind.”

In America, we are witnessing things that demand God’s propitious smiles be withheld from us.  How can the propitious smiles of Heaven be on a nation that devalues life and practices a form of idolatry in abortion?   I say a form of idolatry because the idolatry of Baal worship included the sacrifice of children.

Israel sacrificed thousands of their children, but in America, we have sacrificed millions to the God of self-indulgence.  We call it names to make it more palatable, but life in the womb is a human being, not a blob of tissue.  It is not about women’s rights or a woman’s health. It is about convenience and often rooted in selfishness.  What about the rights and health of that living being in the womb, the unborn baby?

The propitious smiles of Heaven cannot be expected on a nation that slaps God in the face with the myriads of genders now deemed a reality.  God created two genders, male and female.  God instituted marriage between one man and one woman.  God established the home and desired procreation to replenish the earth.  When we endorse sex changes, same-sex marriages, and the dismantling of the home and family, we abandon the eternal rules of right and order that God has established.  We trample on God’s Word and expect Him to bless us.  How arrogant can we be?

The fanning of the flames of hate, perpetuating bigotry, racism, and every other dividing element in society demands that God withhold His propitious smiles.  America has been blessed, and our founders recognized the divine hand of God’s providence in our becoming a nation.  For much of our existence, we have maintained our respect for God, at least publicly, and allowed Him to be recognized.  That changed dramatically in the 1960s; now, we are reaping the harvest of destruction.

Proverbs 14:34 declares, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”  Today, we have become so anesthetized to wickedness that we are no longer bothered by immoral leaders or politicians.  We no longer have our moral sensibilities troubled by the trash on the movie screens, televisions, music, and much of our culture.  If we want America restored and revived, we must return to God and our founding principles and restore the only thing that can stem the tide of depravity back to our public square and education.

Our solution is not electing a different set of politicians from an opposing party. That might help and give us a brief window of opportunity to get things back on the right path, but it will not solve the problem. Legislation will not change hearts; only God can do that.

If we, as believers, dedicated ourselves to living godly lives, teaching and admonishing others, including our rulers, of God’s precepts, and praying for our nation, we would see a glimmer of hope arise. If we reassumed the responsibility for teaching and training our children and “train them in the way they should go,” we would see the flicker of hope restored.

We can recover, but ONLY if we change course, cease making politics king, and recognize Jesus as the only true King of kings and Lord of lords.  I ask all who love God and love freedom to join me in the pursuit of God and seek to demonstrate the Golden Rule in our lives.  Let’s become those who stand in the gap and make up the hedge.  Let’s become those who are willing to go to jail and die for our freedom and the truth that makes us free: THE WORD OF GOD!

God bless you, and God bless America!

How Near Are We To Comply or Die?

I realize that my title could be unappreciated and viewed as a stand-alone postulation.  If you will allow me to expand upon my statement, I will endeavor to express my concerns and the biblical and constitutional way to deal with the new normal the Left seeks to impose.  I am not sure I can achieve that objective sufficiently, but I will give it the old college try.

The Media, which are nothing more than the propaganda arm of the followers of toxic liberalism or Democratic Socialism, seek to confuse and indoctrinate with the rhetoric of the purveyors of the new normal.  Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary defines normal as conforming to a type, standard…”  It also defines it as “occurring naturally.”  What does that mean?  I suggest that it means that ‘normal’ is defined as whatever society deems it to be.

The Left and the Establishment Republicans are often peas in the same pod.   They wore different hats have limitedly different rhetoric, but at the end of the day, they were members of the old boy system and made up the Swamp and Deep State.  They are largely Statists, and their view is not limited to government but authoritarianism and control.  We are useful only to the extent we contribute to their coffers and follow their mandates.  Step outside the fence, and you will immediately become a threat that must be eliminated.

The utter lunacy of defunding the police and fanning the flames of discord and racism only serves to divide and weaken the fabric of our Republic and society.  I am 100% in favor of positive police reform and would prefer that the police departments police themselves, rooting out all the bad apples from the barrel.  Destroying the entire system because of a few bad actors is beyond insane and endangers everyone, including those who want them defunded and dismantled.  The crime rates are skyrocketing in areas where this is being attempted.  The exodus from those neighborhoods and cities will only expand in the days to come.

The idiocy of releasing criminals back onto the streets while incarcerating hairdressers, restaurant owners, and private citizens for observing their constitutional rights is not a norm anyone should favor.  However, it is becoming the new normal of the Leftist-controlled cities and states.

We can call rioting, looting, mayhem, burning of buildings, and battering citizens mostly peaceful, but that does not make it so.  You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig.  You can call a skunk a house cat, but I suggest that you want to avoid the business end of that creature.

Allowing big box stores such as Walmart to remain open while shutting down churches, restaurants, and small businesses did not curb the spread of the coronavirus.  It destroyed morale and the economy.  It created a much larger dependent class of citizens who were beholding to the government for their subsistence.  Warning: what the government provides for, it controls.  If they send you a check, they expect compliance with their edicts in return.   If you fail to comply, they are more than willing to watch you die.

I was dismayed at the politicization of the so-called ‘COVID Relief Package’ debate that went through Congress.  How, in the name of human decency and sanity, can any politician justify making the national debt of Sudan or the education of women in Pakistan more important than the seniors, veterans, small businesses, and Americans?

I recently came across something that William Randolph Hearst wrote in 1924.  I said 1924, not 1994, 2004, or 2014, but 1924!  I read it and wept as I reflected on the current state of our society and government in 2021.  He said, “The day when this nation ceases to shape its foreign policy primarily for the safety and welfare of the American people will be the day on which its national doom is sealed – and its international doom too.”

That was a warning scoffed at then, and the fruit of that policy being reaped in America in 2021.  We have done this to ourselves.  We do not have to comply, but failure to do so may mean we die.  Where is the patriotic spirit of 1776?

When I review history and recall things I have seen in my life, around the world, I am sorrowful for my nation.  The reeducation or brainwashing of multiple generations via our modern educational process is bearing fruit, and that fruit is not healthy or helpful for Liberty and Freedom.

During the Cultural Revolution in Communist China, there were hordes of Red Guards rampaging through the streets of Beijing and much of China.  They attacked everyone they deemed to be non-compliant with the Communist mandate.  Those victims had placards hung around their necks denouncing them for their crimes against the state.  Millions were murdered during those episodes.  One has to wonder, with the direction of America, how far are we from this type of Brown-Shirted Jack-Booted Gestapo antics?

America was moving forward and re-establishing itself as the key player in the world economy and as the world’s greatest Superpower.  As a result of bad decisions in COVID and the past four years under Biden, we are in grave danger of becoming a nation on the downhill side of progress.  The more the Leftists are able to take control and seek to enforce their new normal on us, the more endangered we become.  I doubt that the average Russian in the 1990s would have believed that their country was on the verge of imploding.  Those of Rome would never have dreamed their empire could collapse.

When a nation loses its connection to its moral moorings, it is heading for destruction.  A corrupt society cannot long exist, and as John Adams prophetically declared, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”  We need to rehearse that warning and realize that the direction of the Leftists pursuing their new normal, which is the opposite of that condition, is destructive.

Although our Founders were adamantly opposed to a Direct Democracy and sought to establish a Republic, John Adams made a succulent point in his letter to Abigail Adams.  He said, Remember, democracy never lasts long.  It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.  There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

America is aging, but age alone is not a reason to become dead.  I conclude with the words of President Warren G. Harding from 1920.  He said, “America’s present need is not heroics but healing; not nostrums but normalcy; not revolution but restoration.  It’s time again for Americans to assert normalcy and restoration.  And then, yes, America can and will be great again.”

America, we either comply and die, or we resist and live.  We either exhibit the Spirit of 1776 and once again reclaim our Republic or become serfs of the state.  Will the last line of the Declaration of Independence once again become our rallying cry and evidence of our commitment to Liberty and Freedom?  That last line is, “And for the support of this Declaration, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.”  We, the People, are the rightful owners and overseers of this Republic and its government.  It has been stolen from us by politicians.

God bless you, and God bless America!

Do You Realize That Thinking You Are Smart Does Not Make You Wise?

I am sure some read my title and said, “Well, Duh, Mr. Obvious,” and others just chuckled.  Frequently, as I view the actions and antics of politicians, this reality smacks me in the face.  Many of them are lauded as being very intelligent.  When I observe and listen to them, I am again forced to acknowledge that having university degrees and being measurably smart does not make one wise!

You can have the IQ of a genius and be a virtual moron when it comes to wisdom and common sense.  I’ve known people who are smart according to their test scores and are incredibly lacking in wisdom.  I’ve known some people who are or were not measurably smart but were incredibly wise, and I’ve known people who are both.

In my life, I’ve only been intimidated by one person intellectually, and that was short-lived because of who that person is.   He is smarter than I, and we both know it; he is my brother.  That someone is deemed smarter based on measurable test scores does not eliminate me from the conversation. I am allowed to have an opinion, and you are too!

Just because I state that I am not intimidated by people deemed incredibly smart does not mean that I am not saying that I think I am as smart as anyone or everyone else, heaven forbid.   I’m saying that I’m not afraid to think, examine, and express my thoughts.  If they are wise, they may give me the insight needed to expand my knowledge.

If measurable scores determined wisdom, my father would have failed miserably, but he was one of the wisest men I have ever known.  He was astute in applying knowledge, using common sense, and demonstrating rational thought, which made him wise.  I know people who are far more intelligent than I am, but that fact does not intimidate me because I am comfortable within my own skin and person.

I am not afraid to acknowledge that I do not know something when I do not, and I am not afraid to converse with people holding multiple doctorates in various disciplines.  I find discourse with intelligent people stimulating, and it challenges me to dig deeper and apply myself more.

When I listen to arguments today or ideological presentations of politicians, activists, university professors, and others, I often think, “Measurably smart, practically dumb.”  Having the ability to use ‘legalese’ and write legislation that is larger than most novels does not mean you have demonstrated wisdom.  It may well mean that you practiced deception and are attempting to hoodwink the public and even your colleagues in Congress.

Making something complicated is not demonstrating wisdom but the opposite.  How can you expect people to follow a directive when they do not understand it?  I found in raising my children that the less complicated I made my instructions, the more likely they were to be followed.

When Congress produces legislation that even they do not understand, you know we are not being governed wisely.  Wisdom would insist that laws and regulations be easily understood.  People often fear what they do not understand, and it often seems that it is precisely the objective of some legislation and legislators.

It is almost like the religious hierarchy of ages past when the person in the pew was not allowed to have a Bible or read it for themselves.  The hierarchy wanted to explain to the people what was intended and thereby control the people.  I believe we have the same situation in Washington today, where most politicians want to ‘tell us’ what the legislation means rather than producing bills and laws that we could easily decipher.  It seems to give them a sense of power and importance to have us in the dark and confused.

They believe they are ‘smarter’ than the rest of us; therefore, we have to be controlled because they are ‘smarter.’  That is incredibly lacking in wisdom, for when people become frustrated enough, they revolt; when they revolt, those in power are deemed the enemy, whether they truly are or not.

We elect officials as our ‘representatives,’ not our ‘lords.’  I see a rebellion coming in this nation where the people become so fed up with the politicians they refuse to submit.  I am not suggesting or calling for an ‘armed insurrection’ but saying that dissatisfaction with politicians and politics is growing among those of varying political stripes.

What will be the tipping point?  I don’t know, but I know that if you corner an animal, even one that is ordinarily passive, there is a point where it will fight back, and when it does, it fights for its life.

I hope the voting public sends a message to all politicians in every election that we are tired of being cornered and manipulated.  I hope that enough bad politicians are given their ‘pink slips’ so that others take note of what WE, THE PEOPLE, are saying instead of trying to tell us what to say, think, and do.  I long for a time when we hold politicians accountable for the laws and legislation they pass.  We might return to ‘citizen representation’ and a ‘Republican Democracy’ if that were to happen.

May God bless you, and may God bless America.
