I, along with millions of other God-fearing, Freedom-loving Americans, am concerned about the state and future of our Republic. No, I did not say our Democracy because that is not what we are, but our Republic. Yes, we have a form of Representative Democracy but are not a Grecian Style Majority Rule Democracy as many suppose. Those facts are embodied in our system of government, our Constitution, and our history. Sadly, too many, including some who teach in our institutions of higher learning are apparently unaware of those facts.
Before Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of these United States the Left called for his impeachment. Maxine Waters wanted him impeached because he called Hillary, “Crooked Hillary.” How dare him use that kind of derogatory language toward a member of the fairer sex and a Democrat. That, in her mind, was inexcusable and clear evidence that he was the epitome of evil and must be eliminated. She was not alone and ignored the realities that disparaging epithets were launched from both candidates and others during the campaign cycle. That is not unusual in presidential elections but the reaction of the Democrats to a Republican pushing back has been incredibly revealing.
It was 19 short minutes after Trump was sworn in that the Washington Post announced, “The Campaign to Impeach President Trump Has Begun.” Wow! What took them so long? That effort has been nonstop for over three years and the 24/7/365 barrage of innuendo and allegations have flooded the airwaves.
The Russian collusion collapsed because to all full exposure of what transpired would be to indict Hillary and the Democrats and they could not risk that. New allegation after new allegation has arisen and each of Trump’s associates and appointees has been treated with less civility than a mass-murdering pedophile terrorist cannibal human sacrificing devil worshipper. It has been treacherous for those supporting the president.
The Democrats are poised to continue their objective although some of the Democrats desire to shifting from impeachment to recall or censorship of the president, continue they will. The Constitution demands that impeachment be for ‘treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.’ They have no verifiable evidence of quid pro quo, bribery, treason, or endangering America in any of the president’s actions. Even in the Ukraine phone call, the Ukrainian president has insisted there was zero quid pro quo. The witnesses produced by Shifty Schiff have been hearsay, opinion, dislike but nothing factual or verifiable. It has been a political campaign effort paid for by you and me, the American taxpayers.
Our first president George Washington and our founders feared the auto-renewal policy of present-day politicians. They gave repeated warnings against allowing those in power to co-opt the political process and use federal money for their personal purposes. They would be appalled at the use of special interest money, playing on incumbency and name recognition, and the ultra-partisanship engaged in today. They did not believe that elective positions should be ‘life-time appointments’ but ‘temporary engagements’ in public service. Today, we have a political class and the members have never held jobs outside of the political arena. That needs to change and change swiftly.
Voting all the corrupt members of Congress out of office is virtually impossible so fixing this issue may be beyond the realm of possibility. However, we must somehow seek to regain the views expressed by our first president George Washington. He said, “The power under the Constitution will always be in the people. It is entrusted for certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their own choosing; and whenever it is executed contrary to their interest, or not agreeable to their wishes, their servants can and undoubtedly will be recalled.”
James Madison concurred as he wrote in Federalist 39: “[T]he popular consent upon which the Constitution’s authority rests was “given by the people, not as individuals composing one entire nation, but as composing the distinct and independent States to which they respectively belong.” It is imperative that we realize that this is nothing more than a partisan effort to overturn an election that they did not like. If we fail to resoundingly dismantle their consortium of corruption, we will witness the destruction of our Republic.
The GOP members of the House of Representatives have definitively rebutted the claims of the Democrats on a point by point analysis of the Schiff proceedings. In their rebuttal, they declared: “The Democrats’ impeachment inquiry is not the organic outgrowth of serious misconduct; it is an orchestrated campaign to upend our political system. This impeachment inquiry and the way the Democrats are pursuing it sets a dangerous precedent.” It is true that security assistance was delayed but was ultimately forwarded to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president has denied any quid pro quo and said: “I never talked to President Trump from the position of quid pro quo. That’s not my thing, I don’t want us to look like beggars.” The Democrats have, at this point, engaged in a clearly partisan predetermined course of action where the desired conclusion was formulated and then the investigation to validate that conclusion pursued.
Impeachment is the tool the Democrats are using for settling political scores and re-litigating election results with which they disagreed. If that is the course for America going forward, our Republic is destroyed and consensual governance we give the elected officials will be irreparably altered. We will become an oligarchy at best and a despotic socialist tyranny at worst.
America we must begin the process of praying for our nation and our president. I suggest that we not just pray for him and the Republic but ask God what our role in this is to be. “Lord, what am I to do?” Next, we need to study, investigate, examine, vet, and determine the truth as best we can. Then, we need to articulate those realities to everyone who will listen. Finally, we must become engaged and, VOTE!
It has been reported that there are over 3.5 million more voters registered than there are qualified voters in America. That could only mean one thing, the Republicans and the president are behind that many votes before the voting begins. I am not concerned about Russian interference in our elections, they have always meddled. I am concerned about systematic and orchestrated voter fraud in America. It is in our hands to fight this fight to the finish. If we become complacent, we lose!
God bless you and God bless America!
Great article. I enjoy your insight on any issue you pen!
