Friends and acquaintances sometimes tell me I am overreacting to what is happening politically in America. They insist that everything political is cyclical, and if I wait, things will go back to the Right, and all will be good again. I wish I could believe that, but I do not.
I readily acknowledge that that seems to have been the case in times past. However, as I review history, I am convinced that rather than simply being a political pendulum swing, it is an orchestrated effort to destroy this nation and bring globalism into power. It started over a century ago, and the slow, incremental, and veiled infringements of our rights and liberties are now open and rapid. It is a fundamental transformation on steroids!
There have been warning signs that most ignored for decades. There were voices sounding the alarm, and most warnings were dismissed as conspiracies or illusional fear. One example would be Ayn Rand’s ‘Atlas Shrugged.’ She predicted that ‘rotten ideas’ would create ‘rotten outcomes and social upheaval.’ She was right, but she was not the only prognosticator of such dire times; most ignored them.
Today, we have front-row seats to the devastation of the WOKE, Cancel Culture destruction, and havoc. It would be difficult to argue that the foundational pillars of our Republic have not and are not being weakened. They are being damaged by the incessant push of the Leftists to force us into compliance with the inane and insane political correctness of today.
Ayn Rand rightly suggested that the government would infringe on parental rights, stifle academic and scientific research, and fuel a dangerous mentality of victimhood. She nailed that with amazing accuracy. Ideas generate outcomes, and if the ideas are flawed, the outcomes will be. If the ideas are sinister and dangerous, the outcomes will produce the fruit of those ideas.
Culture, society, and politics are all shaped by philosophy, and Rand observed the philosophical trends of the 40s and 50s and sounded the alarm. Sadly, we did not take her warnings seriously enough. Ayn Rand was only twelve when the Marxist revolution gained prominence and power in Russia. She immigrated to the United States at the age of twenty-one and was the key founder of the philosophy of objectivism.
When a nation allows a centralized educational bureaucracy to control local education, there is a quantifiable decline in education. One of our glaring mistakes was that once the Department of Education was created in 1979, we allowed the NEA to mandate what and how vital aspects of history were taught. The move was on to reshape the ideological views of our children and transform them into Leftists. That has transpired to our detriment as a republic.
When any nation allows the government to infringe upon parental rights and authority, it is a short step from there to tyranny. I agree with Rand’s declaration, “The government has no right to interfere in the upbringing of a child, which is entirely the responsibility and the right of the parents.”
As a Christian, I believe God gave the responsibility of training the children to the parents. It is okay to embrace public education so long as it does not usurp parental rights or divert the child from the truth. The current silencing of all dissent by parents and the objections over curriculum is an outward expression of the view that we all belong to the government. WE DO NOT!
It is abhorrent for school boards, legislators, judges, or anyone else to pass edicts or laws that prevent parents from participating in life-altering medical decisions regarding gender or anything else. The argument that 18–22-year-old students who took out massive student loans are not emotionally mature enough to know what they have done, but 6-9-year-old children are capable of determining their desired or true gender is insane.
Our laws insist that before the age of twenty-one, a person is not mature enough to buy alcohol or smoke tobacco products. Yet, some believe that a pre-teen child should be allowed to decide to have sex-change procedures because they believe they are misgendered. That is beyond illogical and idiotic. God did not make a mistake, and the horror stories of many who have opted for those procedures and later have deep remorse and even become suicidal are disturbing.
We live in a world where being a victim is promoted as a badge of honor rather than seeking to help them become free of that mindset and live productive lives. We have drifted from the reality that life is not always fair and there will always be disparities. We have morphed from the idea of working for success to demanding that the playing field be level and everyone share equally regardless of ability or effort. That is beyond illogical and is dangerous and damaging to those imprisoned in the mentality of ‘victimhood.’
When the government becomes a behemoth and gains sufficient power, it stifles all freedoms, including intellectual freedom. When the government controls the research, the truth becomes obscure, and promoting ideological theories and agendas becomes the norm. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to accept censorship and isolation; both were detrimental to intellectual advancement in education and science. It damaged interpersonal relationships as well.
In America, one of the things that has enabled this nation to become a great nation can be tied to the Free-Market Capitalism that we have embraced and enjoyed. The American Dream was only possible as people were allowed to pursue their dreams and reap the blessings of their labors without impediment from the government. Today, we have a cancel culture seeking to destroy that economic pathway and replace it with Socialism or Marxism.
Ayn Rand contended that politicians and many citizens would become paralyzed by the profound conflict between capitalism and the moral code that dominates our culture, the morality of altruism. We have witnessed the incredible power of altruism, the misguided belief that the government can provide happiness. We are reaping the harvest of that flawed philosophy and the delusional ideology taught in public education and through various activism sources.
Altruism holds that man has no right to exist for his own sake and that service to others is the only justification for his existence. It teaches that self-sacrifice is mankind’s highest moral duty, virtue, and value. (Unless God is the core, any philosophy becomes flawed). The Bible teaches us to care for others and to allow love to be the driving and defining factor and force in our lives.
But it also teaches the precept and concept of working, producing, and providing for our own. It teaches that out of what we produce, we consider the less fortunate, not that we become a collective and allow a parasitic mindset of victimhood to destroy initiative. It teaches that if one WILL NOT WORK, they should not be provided food. The operative word is WILL NOT rather than COULD NOT!
Those in the condition of “could not” are the ones we are to extend our benevolence. America became a great nation for many reasons: a willingness to work and pursue dreams was a part of that success. We are allowing destructive ideological agendas to steal our nation and force us into life under despotism. We must not surrender without a fight!
Let us unite and fight for Faith, Family, and Freedom. Let us unite to keep America the Land of the Free! Let us unite and evict all politicians and bureaucrats who seek to destroy our republic and infringe upon our inalienable rights.
God bless you, and God bless America!
