My title may be confusing and may even cause some to sneer at the thoughts I desire to present in this blog post. I am 100% a Constitutionalist and believe that everyone has a Constitutional and God-given right to form their own opinion and to express that peacefully and hopefully respectfully. The fact that someone disagrees with me does not justify vilification and vitriol on my part or theirs.
As an American citizen, a Vietnam veteran, a patriot, a Christian, and a defender of the Constitution, I believe that I have a mandate from God and my conscience to speak out when I see things that are unholy, unhealthy, and destructive. One of the commissions I believe I have from God is to be a Watchman on the Walls and sound the alarm when danger is impending.
That call or commission does not make me special; it only makes me obedient. If I saw a child in danger, I would not be silent or inactive. I would feel compelled to sound the alarm and do what I could to alleviate that danger and protect that child. I have done that with children, animals, and people, which sometimes got me in trouble. However, the danger of being misunderstood will not deter my desire to help people.
Are we at War with God and Ourselves? One of the reasons I ask that question dates back to the Lyndon B. Johnson administration. At that time, the family was strong, and there was a healthy respect for God and a willingness to allow the Bible to be a national part of our lives. The Johnson Great Society was anything but great and has proven incredibly destructive for the family. It promoted a myriad of things that were anti-biblical and anti-family. The War with God took a step forward during that time.
The insanity of this administration to advance ideologies of things detrimental to strong families, moral rightness, and faith makes my question even more critical. The influx or invasion at the southern border of those with anything but a desire for peace or tranquility is alarming. With the many other dangers, there is the incredibly dire flow of illicit drugs, and that is translating into the loss of thousands of lives daily in America.
The enslavement of people, especially our young, is providing the foundation for the escalation of the War with God and our Republic. Minds that are warped and rendered incapable of rational thought but able to vote are being used as tools to destroy the fabric of our Republic, weaken the pillars of the family, and divert allegiance from God to self in epic proportions.
The Black community was affected in the direst fashion by the 1964 Acts of Johnson’s Great Society. The family unit before that time was reasonably strong, and two-parent families with a mother and a father were prevalent. Today, that is almost an anomaly or an aberration.
The role of the family in shaping society by shaping lives is an inescapable reality that today’s government and ideologues are working hard to prevent. Thus, we have the push in our public schools to allow children as young as seven or eight to determine their sexual and gender identity without parental consent. That is beyond insane; it is diabolical. It is not an action rooted in a desire to help those children but to transform society into the ideological view the activist desires.
The dependency and entitlement mentality that has been engendered through activism and government programs is shredding our Republic’s foundations. Ronald Reagan said that the best social program was a job, which is in harmony with the declaration of the Apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Paul affirmed that a person who “would not” work should not be provided for. The operative and key word is “would not” rather than “could not.” Benovelance and any sense of godliness would demand that we care for those who “can not,” but if that “have not” is self-inflicted, we have no such obligation.
Benjamin Franklin succulently declared, “I am for doing good to the poor, but…I think the best way of doing good to the poor is not making them easy in poverty but leading or driving them out of it. I observed…that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.”
I agree with Newt Gingrich that the destruction of the family was not inevitable. It was intentional and diabolical. It is not a small part of the effort to ‘fundamentally transform’ America into something other than the Free Constitutional Republic established by our Founders. The Great Society inflicted incredible damage by making the poor even poorer. It forced them to become dependent upon the government dole, thereby controlling them and pushing them away from faith, family, and independence.
The new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, has openly declared his belief in and commitment to God and the truths of the Bible. He is being vilified by some on both sides of the political aisle for that position. The activists and some religious leaders demand that there be nothing of God in government and thereby place us on the altar of humanism, secularism, and self. Without God and the moral precepts of the Bible and Christianity, America would not be, and if it were, it would not be Free. Our laws are deeply rooted in the Ten Commandments and Bible precepts.
Someone said Speaker Johnson has a vision of government that is restorative to biblical, moral, and constitutional principles. I hope that is right. In that declaration, it was asserted that Speaker Johnson’s purpose was to advance a government that was one of greater integrity than we have endured for decades. He envisions a government that solves problems rather than creates them. That is only possible when the War with God ceases, and we stop shooting ourselves in the foot with self-serving ideological agendas rather than Republic strengthening.
We need an awakening of the value of family, morality, civility, and justice. William Blackstone, recognized as the father of modern law, believed that our legal system originated not with the American Constitution but with the Bible. The more we allow the government to enact rules and decrees that dominate our lives and control our daily activities, the further we will drift from our origin. We will continue to drift toward a godless society, and when you empty society of God, it is then filled with evil. It never remains empty.
We need to return to moral sanity, integrity, and honesty and renew a work ethic in America. We need strong families that influence and shape young lives to become productive, law-abiding citizens, not deranged ideological lunatics. We need the influence of the Bible, something recognized by our Founders. If we continue on the current trajectory, we will find that our War with God and Ourselves has borne the fruit of destruction, and our Republic will be lost.
I am less concerned with anyone’s opinion of me and my view than I am about sounding the alarm and pleading with everyone to return to our moral roots and the things that enabled America to become a Republic and will enable us to continue. I stand for Faith, Family, and Freedom.
God bless you, and God bless America!
