Trusting False Security Brings Destruction…

I will address the political by addressing the spiritual in America today.  I am not speaking to the other nations of the world or the churches in those nations but to America, Americans, and the American church.

I have sensed for a long time that trouble is coming to this nation that will completely alter it in the eyes of the world and of those within its borders.  I am not trying to bring a message of fear but one of hope.  I see a parallel between current conditions in America and Israel in Jeremiah’s day.

I realize that I am opening myself up to severe criticism and may shift how some view me, but I cannot let that concern dissuade me from speaking what I believe I am hearing in my heart. I love America, I love the church, I love God’s people, and I believe there is hope. At the same time, I know that no nation is so important that it is beyond God’s chastisement or judgment.

If a nation becomes so self-important in its mind that it believes it is exempt from God’s correction when evil is prevalent, it lives in the throes of deception and is a prime candidate for major upheaval.  By the same token, I believe the warning, urging, and plea of 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if believers humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, repent, and return to following God’s precepts, He will respond positively.

I can allow a false sense of security to prevail and believe that no matter what, America will come out on the other side of any difficulty intact and unscathed.  That did not happen to Israel and will not occur to an America that ignores God’s precepts and principles.  If we ignore God’s declared laws or precepts, we will incur God’s chastisement, if not His judgment.  Are we there?  I believe we are on the precipice.

In pre-Babylonian Israel, in Jeremiah’s day, the spiritual leaders believed that God loved Jerusalem too much to allow it to fall into the hands of an enemy.  They were wrong!  They believed they were too important to God’s plan for judgment.  They were wrong!  In the American church today, some are proclaiming that America is too important economically, spiritually, and socially for God to allow her to be subdued.  Without fear of being wrong, I declare that no Nation is too Important or that Important!

God will not wink at sin, and when a nation enacts laws that directly violate God’s biblical and moral precepts, that nation endangers itself. God may not judge us as much as He withdraws His hand of protection and allows us to suffer the consequences of our decisions to violate His precepts.

I predicted to a congregation over 45 years ago that I saw a time coming in America when God’s people would be forced to trust God for EVERYTHING!   The food on our table, the shelter over our heads, the clothes on our backs, and our very livelihoods would come directly from God through faith.  Our medical care would be, once again, divine.  Our protection would, once again, be divine.  Our very existence would be similar to that of Elijah during the 3 ½ years of drought in Israel.

When a political party embraces ideological views anathema to the Scripture, it pits itself against freedom and against God.  When the most defenseless among us are unprotected, and we deem it a woman’s right to kill that baby in the womb for whatever reason, we have adopted a position that makes the rights of the individual an idol and a virtual god.

Only God has the right to determine when a life ends.  We talk about a woman’s right to her body; what about that unborn baby’s right to its body?  Who is protecting the unborn?  I hear the argument about incest and rape as justifications for abortion.   When did two wrongs make a right?  Was that unborn baby the guilty party in either of those situations?

I hear about physical conditions as justification to abort the baby.  Was that unborn baby the cause of that condition? I suggest that, as with the man born blind that Jesus healed, the disciples asked, “Who Sinned to cause this?”  Jesus said, “Not the individual or the parents, but it was an opportunity for God’s incredible grace, mercy, and power to be demonstrated.”

I have heard of abortions being demanded because the child was of the wrong gender or that it interfered with the planned career of the mother.  How is that the unborn baby’s fault?  When did our preference and convenience become paramount?

I believe that much of the problem in today’s world stems from a complacent church that has adopted a false sense of security.  I am concerned that we do not fear the Living God and are callous in our response to His precepts and commandments.

America has been a beacon of hope for generations and can be again.  America has been the catalyst for sending the gospel worldwide and can be again.  America has been a system of government where people could pursue Life, Liberty, and Happiness and can be again.  We have a choice in November, and we dare not let complacency or personal preference guide us; we must let God’s Word!

If there were no other issue, abortion would be enough to sway me in my vote.  The lunacy that is embraced today by one party regarding a plethora of things all in direct conflict with the Bible leaves me no option but to vote No on their candidates!

You vote as you believe. Before you vote, you honestly go before God and ask for His preference.  I ask you to honestly consider the policies and platforms and square them with the Word of God.  If you do that, I believe you will vote according to God’s desire.

God bless you, and God bless America!
