I was recently reminded of some Divine Wisdom in teenagers and why I am hopeful for America’s future. Godly wisdom in people of all ages is needed, but it is incredibly encouraging to see wisdom and understanding displayed in someone who was only thirteen years old.
I confess I am a bit prejudiced and biased because the following was written by my grandson Corban when he was thirteen years of age. It is about TEAMWORK. If there is anything we need in America today, ‘teamwork,’ but instead, we get partisan rancor and the driving of wedges between parties, races, classes, genders, and nations. This is the modus operandi of our many Presidents and members of Congress. I find their rancor and antics appalling and completely demeaning to the office he holds.
Let me allow you to read the words of my grandson:
Life is a team sport. Working by yourself may have its positive sides, but the precision of a team can cut through the empty void of space and reveal the beauty of our world. Being alone has proven to have more failures than victories. A group with the determination to accomplish a goal is far greater than anything that was accomplished by a single individual. A team may argue and debate, but they will always step up to the challenge awaiting them. Failures can be turned into success if the team has the heart to overcome their differences.
A single man will spend several years trying to accomplish a goal that a group can accomplish in a few weeks. Our brains slowly erode away as social situations decrease. Being lonely is an ultimate price to pay for not working and communicating with others. Loneliness, though, isn’t the end of the everlasting list of consequences dealt to those who choose to take on the burden of working alone. The effect of stress ages a person beyond the years any should experience. Look at the president, single man running millions. He has aged double his age in four years. The discoveries of a group completely outmatch the pledges of the president.
NASA has been discovering new worlds with ease, but they have only scratched the surface of teamwork. The Hubble Telescope was crafted by hardworking teams willing to stop at nothing to conquer the unknown. The minds of those men and women were put to the test; and the challenge of failure pushed their minds to a new understanding. Life is too short to hold back and not reach your potential.
Those members of a group who refuse to work will have their hearts changed, even if they show no sign of hope. People who say teamwork tends to anger and heart-wrenching endings have never felt the power of understanding others; and the joy of overcoming the wall of differences. The teams, whose leaders are bossy, have not accepted that everyone has worth and purpose. All the problems are just the falsely made ideas of people who have tasted nothing but defeat.
No one should have the cold hands of fear clasp their hearts when they have a group to rely on. Being alone, working will only cause stress and anger while teamwork brings joy and security. Working alone will never come close to the accomplishments of a team.
[By Corban Beaird – Eighth Grade Student – 13 years of age]
I presented that “unedited” as it was written by my grandson, a thirteen-year-old eighth-grade student. It demonstrates to me that our youth have insight that many adults, especially those in Washington, D.C., do not seem to possess.
They desire to overcome obstacles, build bridges across the chasms that divide our nation, and work together to create a future and hope. Since it appears to me that those on the Left have ZERO desire to compromise and work with those on the right, there is little hope that Teamwork can be realized in Washington, DC. That is a sad indictment of our nation and our society.
What might be accomplished if we sent some wise thirteen-year-olds to Washington to hammer out some of the problems facing our nation and society without the propaganda from either side of the aisle? I am not suggesting that these teens have the ability, maturity, or knowledge to handle the problems that face our nation. However, we might learn from them in their ability to work together as a team.
- In sports, if there is no Teamwork, there is failure.
- In combat, if there is no Teamwork, there is defeat.
- In marriage, if there is no Teamwork, divorce is likely.
- In Life, we should all know by the time we are adults that None of Us is an island, and we need others.
That is biblical and rational. So, I am calling for America to begin fasting and praying for our nation, elected officials, and society as a whole to learn again or learn anew the ability to Work Together as we did in WWI and WWII when our nation faced a crisis of epic proportions.
Together with God, we can overcome anything. Thank you, Corban, for causing Grandpa to reflect on your words and double my commitment to seeing America rise to greatness again as “ONE NATION under God with Liberty and Justice FOR ALL.”
May God bless you is my prayer, and may God bless America!
