I contend that a broken government produces broken people. The latest data for 2023 indicates that there were 22.2 million households in the United States of America on food stamps. I said households, not people. According to those same statistics, this equates to 41.9 million people.
The number of households per SNAP records is 22,292,478, up from 21,620,718 in 2022 and almost 672,000 over the previous year. If the calculation were an average of 4 per household, that would mean that 89,169,912 people are on food stamps or 38% of the United States population.
The calculation of the actual number of persons is moot when you realize that at least 20% of American households are on food stamps. Yet, the Leftists insist that things are rosy and getting better all the time. They declare that we have turned the corner and are experiencing a robust recovery. I suggest that you tell that to the massive numbers who are out of work and the huge number who are no longer looking for work. The Biden recovery was a myth. Hopefully, the Trump administration will turn this around.
With the invasion of illegals that occurred under the Biden administration, we are facing some dramatic needs. Healthcare, education, the economy, and public safety are concerns that must be addressed.
We have a Broken Government, and Broken Governments result in Broken Societies or Broken People. The inane and insane policies of liberalism, progressivism, and socialism have dashed the hopes of people to achieve their lifelong dreams economically.
These failed policies are moving us into a state where we are just a short step from looting and lawlessness. I often wonder if that is really what those on the left want or if it is their ‘thoughtless’ attempt to solidify a voting base so they can remain in power and protect their Elite Status. I would guess that it is probably both to some degree.
One study or report stated that we have more people on food stamps in America than the population of Spain and that the cost of food stamp fraud has more than doubled in the past decade.
It was no surprise when extremist groups such as Acorn and others were actually teaching people how to ‘scam the system’ and ensure that they live quite nicely without having to work for it. Please hear me; I know that some people are receiving food stamps that would work if they could find work, but they are not the ones I’m referring to.
I have no problem helping someone truly needy and would provide for their own if they could. I do have a problem with the professional welfare recipient and the lazy. Those need to be addressed with tough love.
We have allowed the federal government and often the state government to replace our individual human kindness and the benevolence of the church and community. Now that we have so many federal entitlement programs, individuals no longer feel compelled to help the poor and needy.
Too often, the churches and communities have pulled back as well. Instead of helping someone get back on their feet, we have a program encouraging people to remain on their derriere. Not that long ago, in my youth, there were people on welfare, but those were few compared to what is happening today.
Individuals, local communities, and the church were key participants in assisting those with needs. If a person proved to be lazy, they were allowed to be lazy and hungry. Some will say, “Roy, where is your compassion?” In the Bible, we are told that if a man will not work, he should not eat and that a man who will not provide for his own household is worse than an infidel.
My compassion is following the compassion that God has expressed. I believe we do people more harm than good when we facilitate killing their dreams and initiative. I think that we relegate them to a type of slavery that is as bad as physical slavery and, in some ways, maybe worse. Understand, I consider physical slavery contemptuous and reprehensible, so you must know what I think of governmental slavery.
If we want to recover our nation, restore our republic, and truly help people, we will un-elect every liberal and RINO that walks the halls of Congress or the Whitehouse. We will endeavor to send people who genuinely care about the Constitution and America to those halls.
If a legislator or President honors the rule of law and the constitution and demonstrates a genuine concern for America and Americans, then I believe they will demonstrate genuine compassion, not fictitious pseudo-compassion. They will labor to produce a smaller and limited government that allows people the opportunity to achieve their dreams and goals rather than taxing and regulating them into governmental slavery.
If you agree with me, let us burn up the phone lines, in-boxes, and fax lines of your elected official and become involved in the political process with your money, labor, and vote. I also seek all who pray to become intercessors for this nation. America needs you like never before.
God bless you, and God bless America!
