Is The Divide Irrevocable?

Yes, I said it: Irrevocable Divide.  I wish I did not believe that we were on the precipice of irrevocability in our societal and political differences in America.  Barring divine intervention, America will probably never be united again.  The culprit is the prevalent unbridled hate, the desire for “my way,” and the diabolical agenda being leveled against this Republic.

Hate, as defined by the so-called “resistance,” the Never Trump coalition, and the fruit of apathy by too many for too long, is reaching a crescendo.  In 2016-2020, I thought it had reached its apex, but that era pales compared to the present hate.   Then, we have the ‘Dump Trump’ movement and the ‘Eradicate Trump’ agenda.

The followers of the toxic liberal rhetoric seem to honestly believe the narrative of the Media, the political establishment, and those funding the attempts to eliminate Trump and any of his supporters.  I refuse to call them “ignorant,” but I cannot overlook their being “uninformed” and even willfully ignorant.

Those enamored with the toxic liberal agenda have demonstrated a propensity to willingly believe what they read, hear, or see from the MSM, Politicians, and Hollywood.  They are blind followers of the Leftist Pied Piper.  Millions will one day wake up, but I fear it will be too late when that transpires.

I believe that there will come a time when they will realize that the “freebies” they were promised come at a price far beyond what they expected to pay.  I believe they will realize they have become slaves of the state and lament their decision.  They will argue that they were betrayed by both the Right and the Left, and that level of distrust will solidify the destruction of the Republic known as the United States of America.

How’s that for ‘gloom and doom’?  I’m sorry to sound so negative, but unless those of us who believe in God and are given to prayer begin to intercede for the Republic and the awakening fervently, my prediction will become a reality.  However, I do believe in God and practice prayer and committed long ago to interceding for America and, thereby, the world.

I would love to see something transpire where cooler heads prevail.  I long for and pray that, somehow, we can sit at the table of discussion and work through our differences.   Can that become a reality?  YES, but only through either a catastrophic disaster that brings everyone to their knees or a divine move of God on the hearts of men and women everywhere.

If the haters of Donald Trump were successful in ousting him as President, that would not cool temperatures.  Instead, it would result in something akin to a thermonuclear eruption on all sides.  The proponents for his ouster would not be satisfied because they would not get the person they desired in power.  Those who defend the Republic and this President would not be satisfied because of the illegitimate overthrow of a legitimate president.

The result would be total chaos, and the divide would become impossible to span.  The natural consequence would be the dismantling of our Constitutional Republic and splitting this nation into factions.  The chaos would result in an attempt of martial law and the imposition of an iron-fisted government that would give rise to a despotic tyranny that no one should desire.

The idea of the total destruction of a “House Divided” was voiced by Jesus in the Gospels (Mark 3:25; Matthew 12:22-28; Luke 11:17).  The apostle Paul referenced it in Galatians 5:15, “But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another.”  The Psalmist alluded to it in Psalm 133:1, “…Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”

Are we brothers?  I answer that question with this question: “Are we Americans?”  Jesus asked, “Who is my neighbor?”  He responded in Luke 10 with the story of the Good Samaritan in contrast to the Priest and Levite, who ignored the need, but the Samaritan took care of the injured man.  Jesus then asked, “Which of these do you think was neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”  They had no choice but to acknowledge it was the one who showed mercy.

In his address, Abraham Lincoln referred to the division of the Civil War and noted the Bible’s declaration, saying, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”  He continued, “I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.  I do not expect the Union to be dissolved – I do not expect the house to fall – but I do expect it will cease to be divided.”  That is my prayer and desire – Unification!

We may continue to have differences, but that is not unhealthy.  We may desire different things, believe differently, and prefer different pathways in life, but that is not unhealthy.  We may become agitated and animated in our discussions, but if our singular purpose is the betterment of the Republic and the preservation of our Nation, we can Unite!

Your choice of ice cream may be vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, Rocky Road, or pistachio, which is okay.  I have no problem with differing preferences and applaud working toward convincing others to embrace your ideology, but the one thing that must be central is the Constitution.

The Left believes it is an ever-evolving document that evolves with the changing whims of a particular time or majority sentiment.  That would relegate it to becoming the tool of the devious in a Pure Democratic form of government, and Majority Rule would render that document meaningless.  However, our Founders and Framers understood this danger, worded the Constitution sufficiently to ward off ‘knee-jerk’ modifications, and insisted that we go through the tedious “amendment process” to alter that document.  Thank God They Did!

No president, congress, or court has the authority or right to change that document without the “due process” of a Constitutional Amendment, which is ratified by three-quarters of the states.   Regardless of population, each state has an equal voice in adopting or rejecting the proposed amendment.  That has safeguarded our Union and Republic for over 240 years, and it must remain the guiding principle of this nation.

If we allow the caldron of hate to reach the boiling point, we will open the door to such calamity and chaos survival as the Free Constitutional Republic may be impossible.  They become agitated when I try to talk to some on the Left and present documented factual data to back up my argument.

Frequently they resort to yelling and name-calling, insisting that I am a racist, bigot, and cultist too ignorant to know the truth if it bit me in the butt.  They offer no factual, verifiable data to back up their argument.  When confronted with examples of the failures of Socialism and Open Borders, they stop listening and want to fight.  That will never resolve differences.

The Bible says, “A soft answer turns away wrath.”  But it also says in Proverbs 14:7, “Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you perceive not in him the lips (or words) of wisdom.”  In Chapter Four of the Book of James, we are advised that the source of quarrels is the condition of the heart, selfishness, envy, and greed.  America, I know we can overcome this divide, but we cannot if we are unwilling to allow our anger to be dampened and temper our words with grace and understanding.  Name-calling only further escalates emotions and increases the divide.

My simple request is for everyone on both sides of the current political furor to Listen without judgment and try to understand where the other person is coming from.  Present your argument civilly, logically, factually, and with the objective of reaching a working solution in which our nation is preserved, not divided.

Is that possible?  It is with many people, and I am meeting more people who see the danger and are trying to learn the art of listening without judgment.  That being said, in the current climate, we cannot allow the control of government to be returned to those on the Left who are driven by an agenda that is dangerous for America and rooted in hate.  That would be catastrophic.

You may feel that I negated all my pleas with that statement.  I believe that, should the Democrats regain power at this time, they would fuel the flames of hate and plunge headlong into an agenda that would greatly hinder, if not totally destroy, our Republic.  I want to have an honest, open discussion at all levels and see America once again become “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Join me in prayer and in the fight for Faith, Family, and Freedom!   God bless you, and God bless America!
