HELLO, AMERICA, WE ARE IN TROUBLE; WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

I could adopt the attitude that no action is necessary because God is Sovereign and controls all things. I do believe that God is Sovereign! That being said, I also believe that God expects us to“do what is right” in every area of life, including the political. If I were to sit idly by and watch America, a nation founded on principles so friendly to individual liberties and the teachings of Scripture, I would feel I had betrayed God’s trust.

Throughout history, we have records of nation after nation attempting to ensure the “inalienable rights” God has given everyone. Repeatedly, those nations fell prey to power-hungry, ambitious people who plunged them into tyranny. A quote from George Santayana is applicable, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” That defines my passion to see as many people as possible informed regarding our government, true history, and the perils of continuing on the path that restricts, limits, and even abolishes our freedoms.

We live in a Free Society, and all Free Societies seek to establish governments designed to protect the rights of individuals, especially the inalienable rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” James Madison was right when he declared, “If men were angels, no government would be necessary.”

Sadly, we are not, and some government is necessary; otherwise, we would have total anarchy, and none of us want that. History is replete with examples of how governments restricted or disallowed private ownership of land, redistributed wealth, and censored speech and expression. Each resulted in the collapse of that nation’s economy, the loss of freedom, and ultimately, the end of that nation as a Free Society!

The permanent professional political class has demonstrated a uniform desire to grow government regardless of party. Why? Because it perpetuates their way of life and gives them an incredible amount of power, frequently increasing their personal wealth. When government expands to the point of controlling the lives of every individual directly or indirectly by deciding what we eat, what we drive, where we live, work, and how much we can earn or keep of those earnings, it is out of control.

I believe that this is a time when the public must take whatever measures are necessary to rein in and reduce its size of government to a manageable and constitutional level. We know from history that there is a point of no return in supporting an endless number of so-called good causes.

History has demonstrated that when any society follows that path, it becomes collectivist and then tyrannical.  Upton Sinclair, the author of “The Jungle,” a socialist, and founder of the consumer protection movement, wrote to six-time presidential candidate Norman Thomas of the Socialist Party of America in 1951: “The American People will take Socialism, but they won’t take the label… Running on the Socialist ticket, I got 60,000 votes, and running on the slogan to “End Poverty in California,” I got 879,000… There is no use attacking it by a frontal attack; it is much better to out-flank them.”  We have realized how true those words are in the past few decades.

In Ancient Greece, Polybius said, “Democracy in its turn is abolished and changes into a rule of force and violence as the people grow more accustomed to feed at the expense of others and to depend for their livelihood on the property of others.” The U.S. Government began a deep downward spiral under Barack Obama and is growing exponentially under Joe Biden.  They have pushed us toward becoming a welfare society with complete dependence on the Federal Government for our livelihood.

The Democrats continue that agenda, and it is on steroids under Biden.  They call rights things that are not rights, such as “the right to high-quality education, the right to free or affordable health care and housing, etc.” They promise to provide those things, telling us it will reduce the overall cost. Yet, anyone in their right mind and with an elementary knowledge of economics knows that the exact opposite is true.

If you study Ancient Greece, you find interesting clues as to this country’s fate. Aristotle described the characteristics of a tyrant and speaks so profoundly to our current situation that it is frightening. He said, “Another mark of a tyrant is that he likes foreigners better than citizens, and lives with them and invites them to his table; for the one are enemies, but the others enter into no rivalry with him.”

Additionally, “From democracy tyrants have borrowed the art of making war upon the notables and destroying them secretly or openly or exiling them because they are rivals and stand in the way of their power; and also, because plots against them are contrived by men of this class, who either want to rule or to escape subjection.” Does that sound familiar? The use of class warfare is a perfect example.

Today, we see politicians using class envy, race, gender, sexual preference, and a host of other things as tools to divide people and enlarge their support bases. Frequently, they tell one group one thing and another something dramatically different. It is disturbing that if the mass media supports those candidates and their ideologies, they can commit those inconsistencies with impunity. On the other hand, their opponents are doing the same face vilification as vile, evil, and mean-spirited liars.

Aristotle also taught that a tyrant maintains power in three distinct ways:

  • Humiliation of his subjects. (Wow, is that ever-present today!)
  • Creating mistrust among and between people. (Divide and conqueror.)
  • By Relegating his subjects to a status where they are incapable of resisting. (Does making one totally dependent on the government for their livelihood fall into this category? Would disarming the citizens meet this qualification?)

The history of Ancient Rome also gives us clear warning signs. Yet, for decades, we have chosen to ignore those warnings. Julius Caesar was a skilled politician and orator. To gain the support of the masses, especially the poor, he promised to distribute food and money to them. He would become their source by providing the things they needed to live. He planned to“redistribute the wealth,” creating class warfare against those who had become affluent and prosperous through ingenuity and work.

The Roman Empire fell, among other reasons, due to their increasing “tax burden, confiscation of wealth, devaluation of the currency, attempts to control prices, and regulate virtually every dimension of business and personal life.” Once the rich had either fled or been destroyed, the burden to feed the government’s insatiable hunger and this tyrant fell upon the poor who could not satisfy the demands, thus destroying the Empire.

Ancient Israel had one of the most efficient systems known to man. Most of the Western world’s legal and moral code comes from the Judeo-Christian philosophy, values, and beliefs. They operated with extremely limited government per se and yet had an incredible system of checks and balances.

Their laws supremely protected private property.  This has been a cornerstone in every free society. Our founders understood that this was a critical right whose defense was paramount. Israel’s tax system remained constant for over four hundred years. Somebody explain that to the political class in Washington!

Winston Churchill said of Russia and their system of government, “It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.” The Soviet Union that emerged advocated for totalitarianism, Marxist socialism, or communism. Their system is another of a long list of proven failures. Alexis de Tocqueville said in 1848, “Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.”

Winston Churchill characterized it in this manner, “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” Today, we have lunatics and tyrants such as Hugo Chavez, whose outlandish statements such as the following are beyond comprehension, “I am a socialist, and I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, who was the first socialist, just as Judas was the first capitalist.”

I do not have time to go into the many other countries which followed the path to totalitarianism and tyranny, such as Italy or Germany under the Nazis and Hitler. Hitler was frequently lauded by well-meaning people and usurpers of power that he was a god. Eventually, he believed it himself.

He envisioned himself as a savior of a “super race” and believed his ideology was the only acceptable approach. That reminds me of many in Washington today.  They envision themselves as gods. The ultimate demise of Italy’s Fascist Government was partly fueled by their efforts to support the economy through increased spending and continually expanding the public works programs. This only increased the deficit, making it unsustainable, resulting in the nation’s economy and political system crumbling.

That brings me to the United States today.   Our founders intended to create a system that encouraged “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” They hoped to promote freedom, national stability, and unrestrained free enterprise. Their vision held that this would result in America becoming the world’s greatest economy and military superpower, spreading liberty and freedom across the globe.

Politicians, in their quest for power, have sought to grow a much larger and centralized government. This action has transformed the representative government envisioned by the founders into a vast interventionist organism that seeks to control every aspect of people’s lives. Who is to blame? WE ARE! We allowed it to happen.

Thomas Jefferson said, “It is the people who are the ultimate guardians of their own liberty.” Alexander Hamilton said, “We are now forming a republican government. Real liberty is neither found in despotism, nor in the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments.” John Locke said it most eloquently as he identified the government’s role as protecting the “natural rights of life, liberty, and estate.”

In Federalist No. 47, James Madison warned, “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” How we need to heed that warning in today’s America! The use of federal agencies and courts and circumventing the Constitution frequently by the Left meets this definition.

The Left’s determined desire is to implement the ideology of despotism, and they seek to bypass the Constitution, which was designed and defined by a system of “checks and balances.”  They do so unapologetically, and if we allow them to continue in power, we will discover that they become more emboldened with each election. In that state of boldness, they demonstrate their total disregard for the will or welfare of the American people.

So, what do we do? For me, there are several things that I MUST do!

  • Engage in intercessory prayer for the nation, the leaders, and the people. In my view, this is the first order of business, but I understand that the order may differ for others.
  • Diligently work through writing, speaking, praying, and working to convince as many as possible of the dangers inherent in the current path.
  • Attempt to expose the falsehoods told to the American people by this Administration and the left.
  • Attempt to articulate the Constitutional ideology the founders clearly defined in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and their numerous writings, papers, and books.
  • Contribute and seek to raise funds for those candidates whom I believe most nearly embody the principles of liberty that God and the founders envisioned.
  • Go to the polls, exercise my rights, privilege, and duty, and vote.  I believe that if I do not vote, I am voting by abstention to continue the current path.

This is a brief synopsis of where we are today, although not a short post. I hope that as you take the time to read this, you will find inspiration to join the effort to get the message out in support of freedom and liberty!

It is my firm conviction that God will take care of His children. I also believe our responsibility is to labor for our fellow man and future generations. Our responsibility is to ensure they have the privilege of living in freedom and liberty. If you desire to use any or all of this post, please feel free to do so. If you know anyone it might benefit, please forward it to them. I would consider it an honor should you decide to follow my future posts.

May God bless you in your efforts for America and His Kingdom, and may the blessings and favor of God be upon America and the Free World!

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST VOLUNTEER AMONG THE ELITE?

Obviously, that requires a bit more detail before there can be a serious answer.  The Democrats are on record of supporting and proposing “Population Control” as their means to ‘Save the Planet.’  They have embraced the Malthusian Theory of Population Control.  Their assertions are based on false information, paranoia, fear, and delusion, but what is new about that position?  Nothing, with the main-stream political elitists who are seeking to be President of these United States of America.

The Malthusian Theory identified population growth as being a catastrophic danger for the world.  The reason behind that position is the theory advanced by the Reverend Thomas Robert Malthus, in 1798.  He advanced his theory that population growth was not paralleled by food production.  He suggested and believed that if the population of the world continued to expand there would be massive food shortages and therefore ‘Population Control’ was mandatory for the survival of the planet.

Think about when was that theory advanced.  Hang on to your hats.  It was detailed in the Reverend’s writings, “An Essay on the Principle of Population” in 1798.  That’s right I did not say 1978 but 1798!  Wow! Over 200 years ago he advanced his debunked theory based on nothing more than fear and presumption.  He suggested many “checks” on the population including preventing marriage between people deemed to be suffering poverty or perceived as ‘defective.’  There is much more in that theory but suffice to say that the Democratic Presidential hopefuls want to ‘Control the Population’ to Save the Planet.

They have offered some incredibly preposterous proposals that just a few years ago would have resulted in them being laughed out of the room.  Today, those proposals are not laughed out of the room but due to the multi-generations of brainwashing that has been transpiring, the fear-mongering, and faux science used to advance the fear of ‘Climate Change’ people are buying their suggestions and assertions.

The current crop of presidential hopefuls in the Democratic Party stated on CNN’s Climate Change Town Hall that ‘Climate Change’ is the greatest threat America and the world has.  That is beyond preposterous but alas, there are millions who buy it hook-line-and-sinker.  Their dumb ideas make banning plastic straws seem like a mild absurdity.  Their proposals make banning incandescent light bulbs and air travel seem middle of the road ideas.  Their assertions go far beyond calling Climate Change the greatest threat to humanity since WWII.  It went beyond calling hurricanes racists, which they have done.

Their most ludicrous idea is that to fight climate change we must have ‘Population Control.’  The incredibly dangerous ingredients in that idea can readily be viewed by simply looking at what happened in Nazi Germany under Hitler.    They have embraced the theories of Paul Ehrlich of Stanford and many of their proposals come directly from his book ‘The Population Bomb.’  Ehrlich contended that the world is overpopulated by at least 1 billion people and that the only salvation of the planet is population control and reduction.  That would include forced sterilization and contraception programs being enacted.  I wonder how they square that with their arguments for ‘reproductive freedom’ and ‘women’s rights’?

The empirical evidence is that human beings do not deplete the world’s resources but help to discover and produce more for use by mankind.  People who are invested in Freedom and Free Enterprise make the planet better.  It is better materially, economically, and environmentally.  One of the major reasons for population growth is the dramatic reduction in infant mortality and longer lifespans due to research and production by people.

The Malthusian Theory and those advancing their ideas of Population Control such as Ehrlich have suggested that there would be standing room only on the planet.  In the 1970’s they argued that in just 25 to 50 years the world population would be over 10 billion, but it is much nearer 7.5 billion.  Population growth has slowed over the past few decades and freedom has proven to be an incredible motivation for contraception.  As people prosper and enjoy freedom, they make the personal decision to have fewer children.  Even in China population is not the problem or a threat to the world.

Let me open Pandora’s box regarding this theory.  If it is implemented, who decides who can and cannot marry or have children?  Who decides who lives and who dies?  Who decides if a person is too poor or ‘defective’ enough to warrant their extermination or prevention from enjoying a family of their own?  Who?  You guessed it, the politicians and their appointed bureaucrats.  That becomes the most despotic of all conditions and that is exactly what the Democrats are pushing for.  My question is, “Which of them will volunteer for extermination, to save the planet?’’  NONE!

The attempts of man to mandate the population’s size and reduction is to assume the position of being god.  I believe that their theory and agenda is diametrically opposite of the Judeo-Christian view.  I believe it opens the door for disastrous and diabolical results regarding human rights.  It will do nothing to resolve and potential environmental problems but will, in the end, make them worse.  Controlling the size of the population is not the answer, human ingenuity is.  Therefore, this is another of the myriad of reasons I reject the Left and will vote against them in this and every election.

God bless you and God bless America!
