REPUBLICANS JUMPING SHIP IN 2018 – Will Democrats Follow Suit???

BLOG POST 5 - Republicans Bailing Out

It is my guess, the answer is NO.  I say that because the Democrats are devotedly committed to covering for each other, except for the occasional sacrificial lamb such as Al Franken and a few others.  However, by and large, it seems the prospects of reclaiming the House and/or the Senate in 2018 is far more important to them than holding anyone accountable for misconduct.

The list of Republicans that are resigning or declared they will not seek re-election in 2018 is growing and that means it is incumbent upon us to seek out truly constitutional conservatives we can elect to fill their offices.  If we trust the Establishment to present candidates to us, the likelihood increases that we will lose the House and/or the Senate in 2018.  The Establishment’s track record of winning candidates needs no detailing only the mention of John McCain or Mitt Romney and Ed Gillespie in the recent Virginia Governor’s race.  Those losing candidates should be sufficient reminders of the lack of connection to the voting public by RINO’s.  The political agenda and ideology of the Establishment was rejected in the most recent election and will be again if we allow them to control the nomination of candidates.

Let’s look at the Republicans who are bowing out:

Representative Trent Franks of Arizona is stepping down immediately.  He said this is due to his wife’s health, but this comes on the heels of allegations that he pressed a former aide to carry his child, offering her $5 million to act as a surrogate.  The House Ethics Committee announced it was looking into the allegations.  Are the allegations true?  I do not know but today it does not require proof to condemn only alleging.  Innocent until proven guilty is rapidly becoming ancient history in our American Politically Correct World.

Representative Joe Barton of Texas announced his retirement from Congress.  Congressman Barton has had to explain a nude photo of himself that has surfaced on social media.  Republican, Democrat, or Independent if you are dumb enough to allow a nude photo of yourself to find its way on social media you are probably too dumb to hold office.

Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee will not seek a third term.  Senator Corker is a deeply entrenched member of the Establishment and an avid anti-Trump Republican.  Seeing him go would not be a bad thing provided we do not allow the seat to become a Democrat.

Representative Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania has announced he will not run for re-election after serving seven terms in Congress.  He said he was leaving for personal reasons and the severe polarization in Washington, D.C.  He too has been openly critical of President Trump and voted against the repeal of Obamacare this past summer.

Representative Jimmy Duncan, Jr. of Tennessee is not seeking re-election.  Representative Duncan said, “I love my job, but I love my family more.”

Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona is not seeking re-election.  He is another ardent critic of the President and was facing a severe challenge.  Flake said in his announcement that the GOP has become a “backward-looking minority party.”  Let me see, Senator Flake, who holds the White House, the House, and the Senate?   How is that a minority party?  Wait, I know, it is because those of you in the Establishment of the party consider those not in lock-step with your views no a part of the GOP.  That explains why you allow the Democrats, the minority party to act as the majority.

Representative Bob Goodlatte of Virginia has declared he is not seeking re-election saying, “it is the right time to step aside.”

Representative Jeb Hensarling of Texas has announced his decision to no run again.  He said, “I never intended to make it a lifetime commitment, and I have already stayed longer than I had originally planned.”

Representative Lynn Jenkins of Kansas is not seeking re-election.  She said she desires to return to the private sector although there are rumors that she is preparing to run for Governor.

Representative Sam Johnson of Texas who is 86 years of age is not seeking re-election.  He is one of a number who have spent a lifetime in Congress and probably stayed beyond their usefulness and effectiveness.

Representative Raul Labrador of Idaho is stepping down so he can run for Governor.  He is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

Representative Frank LoBiondo of New Jersey is resigning, and this opens a seat in a swing district in the State.  A district that Trump won in 2016 but Obama won in 2012.

Representative Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania is not running again.  He has been caught in allegations of hypocrisy for he has been a staunch anti-abortion legislator, but apparently had an affair and asked his mistress to have an abortion.  That would be difficult to defend.

Representative Kristi Noem of South Dakota and is apparently planning to run for Governor of her state.

Representative Steve Pearce of New Mexico is also stepping down from Congress to run for Governor.  He has served more than 12 years in the House.

Representative Ted Poe of Texas is not seeking re-election.  He was first elected in 2005 and said that all 12 of his grandchildren were born since he became a Congressman and wanted to enjoy family in his sunset years.

Representative Dave Reichert of Washington is not seeking re-election.  His district is a being targeted by the Democrats in 2018, a district Hillary won in 2016.

Representative, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida is stepping down.  She has been in Congress since 1989.  She is considered a moderate Republican and not a strong supporter of President Trump.

Representative Lamar Smith of Texas is retiring.  He has been in Washington since 1987.

Representative Pat Tiberi of Ohio is stepping aside to reportedly lead the Ohio Business Roundtable, as the association’s president.

Representative Dave Trott of Michigan is not seeking re-election.  His seat is one the Democrats fully believe they can easily flip.

I know that this long and growing list may seem meaningless, but I hope it identifies the incredible potential for the Democrats to make inroads toward regaining control in Washington or allow them to do so.  What it means is that you and I must commit ourselves to working to find candidates who will honor the constitution, pursue conservative principles, and refuse to be Democrat pawns.  We need people who will fight for the agenda that we, the voters, declared in the 2016 elections.  We must not allow the Democrats to regain control of either or both Houses of Congress.  If we do, we abandon any hope of accomplishing the things America needs to return to being, the Constitutional Republic our Founders and Framers established.

I ask that you seriously pray about this situation and if your Senator or Representative is one of those listed, please work to find a suitable replacement and Pray and Work to elect that candidate as an effort to save the Republic.  America is the prize and if you want to keep America Free and Constitutional you cannot sit on the sidelines.  The time for being spectators has long passed.  Join me in the fight for Faith, Family, and Freedom.

God bless you and God bless America is my desire and prayer!
