The Smallminded are Small Minded.

Small-mindedness is defined in Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as:  “stubborn or intolerant adherence to one’s opinions or prejudices.’  The synonyms include:  dogmatism, illiberalism, illiberality, illiberalness, intolerance, intolerantness, narrow-mindedness, opinionatedness, partisanship, and sectarianism.

Some of those almost seem to be created words to make a list, but the definition is worthy of note, especially in view of today’s ‘political climate’ and ‘posturing.’    In my view, most politicians are SMALL-MINDED while claiming to be OPEN-MINDED and PRAGMATIC.

When I am forced to listen to them, I almost treat their speeches as a comedic performance.  I have to restrain myself because often others are drinking in the rhetoric like it was a miracle elixir that will cure all the world’s ills.   Of course, some would say that my view is ‘small-minded,’ and that doesn’t bother me because I am not so locked into my personal view that I cannot hear valid, factual, logical arguments to dispute it.

  • When I hear the continual ‘race-baiting’ that is coming from the Left, I immediately think of Small Mindedness.
  • When I hear the arguments supporting ‘higher taxes and punishing the rich,’ I think of Small-Mindedness.
  • When I hear all the ‘supposed wars’ on various groups that the Republicans and Conservatives are purportedly waging, I think of Small-Mindedness.

On that last one, it is not only the ‘small-mindedness’ of those spinning the spin and telling the lies, but those hearing and believing them.

Small-mindedness has produced a culture of ‘political correctness’ and ‘faux tolerance’ to the point that it is almost deemed criminal to have a counter opinion to the left.  That is doubly true if you voice it publicly.   The privilege and ability to actually think seems to be a commodity that is rapidly diminishing in our society and one that the ruling class is evidently bent on destroying or making so unacceptable that people cease to engage in it.

I am sorry, but that does not fit me, so I guess I will be outside the spectrum of acceptability of the Thought Police.  Some of the Left insist that my view is not patriotic.   Oh well, I was never one to just swim with the crowd or fly with the flock if it meant checking my brain at the door or the pool.

Small-mindedness has produced many atrocious laws and restrictions on the American people.  It is astounding that so few see the dangerous path we are headed down.   To vote for an individual ‘solely’ based on their ethnicity is Small-Minded in a most profound way.   To vote for an individual ‘solely’ based on a political party is often Small-Minded as well.

While it seems that we cannot avoid them, political parties have been the bane of Free People and will continue to be so.  Many of our Founding Fathers wanted to avoid political parties.  They would have preferred that the candidates be judged based on their personal ideals, ideologies, and agendas rather than a political party.

It is Small-Minded for an elected official to ‘toe the line’ of partisanship without regard to what is best for their constituents, what is constitutional, and in the best interest of America and the American people.

I have had some Progressives, Liberals, Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarians accuse me of being Small-Minded because of my desire to see a Conservative Constitutional Republic restored.   Each of those groups has its own ideological agenda.   Most of them find it almost impossible to deviate from them one iota.

If we go back to the definition of ‘small-mindedness,’ I’d have to ask, who is being Small-Minded?   I will let you decide that.   I am fully cognizant that I just ticked off some people, and my friend list will shrink again, but that’s okay.   I can handle rejection and treasure everyone’s right to choose for themselves, including who their friends are on Facebook.   lol…

I am tired of the Small-Mindedness that is prevalent and masquerading as Open-Mindedness and Tolerance.   Truthfully, it is nothing short of the antithesis of Freedom.   It is counter to Freedom of Thought, Speech, or Belief.

I am tired of voting for a political party, even though that seems to be the only viable option today.  I am disgusted with the reality that a politician, once elected, frequently seems to flip a switch and ‘toe the party line’regardless of what they promised during their campaign.

For that reason, I am unable to vote for a Democrat.  Tragically, many of them, even those who profess to believe and support many things that I do and those who are conservative and believe in the Constitution, become party soldier loyalists.  When push comes to shove, they vote party line’ almost without fail, epitomizing Small-Mindedness.

Okay, enough of my rant; what do we do?   I wish I could answer that in a few sentences, but I cannot.   Maybe I am not articulate enough or do not understand the problem enough.  Still, it seems to be a broad and complicated issue that has taken decades to reach the current state and will likely take significant time to reverse if we can.

What do we do?  We must refuse to be ‘small-minded’ ourselves.   We must demand that our elected officials move past ‘small-mindedness.’  We must vet our candidates extensively and exhaustively as best we can.  We must adopt a policy of not only voting against those who turn their backs on their campaign promises.  We must work to see them defeated and replaced by someone who will honor their words, the Constitution, the rule of law, and the wishes of the American people (their constituents).

Can we achieve this?  I honestly do not know, but my approach will be to ‘seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness’ and cry out to God for this nation, our elected officials, and the American people.  I will also work diligently to dispense as much information as possible about candidates, policies, ideologies, and actions in Washington and State.  I will pray, work, give, and Vote!

God bless America, and God bless you!

Does Washington Need an Oscar or Enema?

I sometimes wonder if politicians are character actors in a diabolical script or suffering from an impaction.   Therefore, I do not know if they should receive an Oscar or need an Enema.

However, I know that those in Washington and much of the world are “full of it.”  Whatever it might be!  The political world has become so distasteful and disillusioned that it is almost impossible to watch.  The never-ending political campaigns and jockeying for position spewing out what used to be called  ‘mudslinging’ grows worse almost daily.  I do not know if it is mud that is being slung or something requiring an enema.

I am fed up and disgusted with ‘political speak’ and the verbal defecation that transpires when politicians have the opportunity to get before a camera or microphone.   I cannot tolerate the ‘race baiters’ spewing their poisonous diatribe, inciting riots, and fanning the flames of racial discord.

I have grown weary of the bald-faced or bold-faced lies from almost every public sector.  It screams of the need to have a clean-out of the alimentary canal of the world.  It appears that much of it is so full of it that anything short of a complete colon cleanse is a waste of time.

There was a time when our nation was not only willing but insistent upon people being held accountable for their words and actions.  Politicians were not all professionals but public servants and temporary holders of offices.  That ship has sailed, and today, we have a professional political class resembling a mafia or crime family.

The values that were present at the beginning and held true for almost two centuries provided the public with recourse to relieve the condition, and we did so without the 24/7/365 media reporting or propagandizing of some particular agenda.   We were unafraid to ‘speak the truth’ and call a spade a spade.’   I know I can’t say that, for someone will undoubtedly try to make it a racial slur of some kind, and frankly, I have reached the place where I will not let that small-mindedness concern me.

I would, ten thousand times over, have someone tell me the truth rather than make some politically correct attempt at sugarcoating or spinning something to make it somehow supposedly less offensive.   The truth may temporarily hurt my feelings, but if I am honest and truly seeking to be the best I can be, it will only be temporary and prod me into corrective action.

Someone told me some time back, “The whole world has gone crazy.”    While I know that is an exaggeration, it is far from a complete exaggeration, for much of it borders on insanity.   There are no more vicious groups than those following a religious ideology or pursuing a religious cause, as is the case with Islamic jihadists such as ISIS.

We become endangered when former Presidents like Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, and Joe Biden, coupled with the media, politicians, and many religious leaders, insist that Islam is a religion of peace and that we must be tolerant.    That ideology would be fine were it not for their own book, which they call their scripture, calling for the systematic execution and slaughter of those who do not convert to their religion and their total lack of tolerance for anyone else.  If I could give those calling for this action an enema to rid us of this putrid odor, I would.

Politicians who sell their souls for position, power, and profit cause us to cry out for immediate action.   Racist of all stripes promoting their brand of toxin demands an enema as the only logical prescription.  Those in the corporate world who are entirely at ease with price gouging, unscrupulous profiteering, and environmental lunatics offer no hope short of a strategically placed powerful suppository to begin the immediate and total cleansing.

Can we do that?  Not literally, but it might be fun.   However, we can do it through prayer, continual education of all those with whom we can influence, keeping pressure on the elected officials, and becoming more deeply involved in the process publicly, privately, socially, corporately, and spiritually.  The monumental task can only be achieved if we are 100% committed to securing or restoring liberty and a constitutional republic.  That will be our administration of an enema to the world!   Care to join me?

May God bless you, and may God bless America!

Hats

Ecclesiastes 9:10 – Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go.”

Each of us has experienced the need to wear different hats (so to speak) in the daily or routine course of life.   I have the privilege of wearing the ‘preacher hat,’ the ‘husband hat,’ the ‘father and grandfather hat,’ the ‘family accountant hat,’ the ‘handyman hat,’ the ‘problem solver hat,’ the ‘friend hat,’ and many more.  What I want to do today but can’t is to wear the ‘fisherman hat.’   I have too much on my plate, but have a hankering to wet a hook.

Sometime this week, I need to wear the ‘researcher hat’ and research something that has been evading my full view for some time.  Mothers frequently wear many different hats and are not always noticed or appreciated for their labor.  I’ve seen people in church who wear different hats in their service, and while I noticed and expressed my appreciation, I observed that others did not express their gratitude if they saw it, and frequently just took it for granted that it would be that way.

We wear different hats, but We Are Who We Are, no matter what hat we are wearing.   The me that makes me, me does not change with a uniform or hat.   My convictions and core foundation determine who I am and what I do.   If my actions do not align with my words, then I would hazard a guess that the actions are more truly a revelation of the inner person than the words.   That is why the Bible said, ‘By their fruit, you will know them,’ not ‘by their words.’

Politicians and people in general seem to overlook this truth, and we often excuse the discrepancy between what is said and what is done.  It appears that we have evolved in our thinking to the point that if you wear a particular hat, you are not held to the same standard as other hats.  Why?  My life is one unit, not a bunch of unrelated compartments that cannot be synced.

So, as you go through your day, realize that no matter what ‘hat’ you are wearing, you are still you and therefore be Who You Are deep inside.   Do not compromise your convictions, but stay true to what you believe deep within and remain faithful to God’s directives.   We may fail and fall short, but we should all endeavor to Be Who We Are!    Remember it is‘Christ in you, the Hope of Glory.’

Blessings, and I’ll check back later.  Gotta run now and get some stuff done!  God bless you, have a fantastic day!

Let’s Talk About Deniers

Occasionally, accusations are hurled at me and those who share my views, which makes me laugh.   I have been called more derogatory names than I care to recall.   In today’s world, if you disagree with the mainstream toxicity of hate that is flowing from the foundation of liberal ideology, you are labeled a “Denier.”

I had a person shake their fist in my face and scream, “You Are A Rabid Right-Wing Denier.” That was because of my stance on the matter we were discussing.   I was defending the Constitution regarding Freedom of Speech.   He wanted to censor all speech that did not align with his ideology, held by the liberal left.  I countered by saying, “I am not a denier, however….”

I Do Not Deny That The Climate Changes However, I do question the faux science and arguments regarding ‘man-made global warming or climate change, now called climate disruption by those on the Left.” It was not eons ago that the ‘climate change’ advocates told us that we were heading to another Ice Age.  That transitioned into Global Warming.  Now it is the almost undefinable “Climate Change” or “Climate Disruption.”

I readily acknowledge that climate changes.  It always has and always will.   It is, has been, and will be cyclical since time immemorial.   I have experienced some incredibly cold, wet winters, hot, dry summers, and everything in between during my lifetime.  I do not deny that Climate Changes.  I just argue that the ‘man-made’ factor is not nearly as significant as those like Al Gore and some Islamist extremists who have used it as a ‘cash cow.’

I Do Not Deny That Our Immigration Has Problems However, I do contend that making ‘illegals legal’ with one broad stroke of the brush will exacerbate the problem, not solve it. Amnesty is not the answer to any issues in our Immigration System or Laws; it is the antithesis.  In my view, and that of some well-versed individuals, erasing our borders and opening the floodgates for millions to come here without hindrance will destroy our economy and our sovereignty.

I cannot support that!   I am Pro-Legal Immigration and believe those coming should have something positive to offer this nation.  I believe that they should desire, be willing to, and be expected to assimilate into our society and become Americans.  I do not support allowing millions of people who have thumbed their noses at our laws to be given unrestricted access.

I Do Not Deny That Racism Exists in America However, I do not view it as a one-way street.  It seems that 99% of all media coverage of anything ‘racist’ is when some ‘white guy’ somewhere says or does something that is racist or could be viewed as racist.  Yet, when people like the head of the New Black Panthers, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Charles Rangel, Jeremiah Wright, and scores of others make racist statements, it is immediately dismissed and counted as inconsequential.

The left, the media, and the Democrats (same thing) all seem to believe that ‘racism’ is only a white problem.   I believe that race relations were improving until the Obama administration fanned the flames of discord.   The incessant hate, distrust, and victim rhetoric, and fanning the flames by those connected to him and his ideology.

I Do Not Deny That We Need Government However, I do believe that we need limited government, not an all-powerful, overreaching, over-regulation federal bureaucratic monster that has an insatiable appetite for spending and power.

I believe in States’ Rights, but, more importantly, the Rights of the Individual citizen in this country.  I believe in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the purposes outlined in the Declaration of Independence.    We need ‘some’ government; we do not need what we have and what is desired by the left and the RINOs.  We need to return to Constitutional Government and become the Constitutional Democratic Republic that we were designed to be.

I Do Not Deny That The Founders Wanted Freedom of Religion – However, I do believe that their desire was Freedom of, not Freedom From Religion.    In my studies of their writings, those of many average citizens of that era, I have come to believe that they did not, and I do not want a Church of America established and controlled by the government.   It was not that they did not want the Church in America, but they wanted a Free Church in America!

They did not desire the absence of faith’s influence in government but the absence of government’s mandate, manipulation, and control of the church.   There are too many biblical quotes in their writings, our founding documents, and images in public places for me to believe that they wanted to censor or silence the church and/or faith in matters of government.  Instead, they wanted all to be Free to worship as their hearts dictated.

So, I Am Not a Denier; instead, I am a Supporter of the Constitution and believe that any changes to that document must be through the established pathway of Amendments, not with the presidential phone and pen.  America, I plead with you to wake up, rise up, speak up, and step up to work for the restoration of our Constitutional Government in America.

May God bless you and may God bless America!

What Am I Politically?

As many of you know, I am a follower of Jesus Christ and have served in Christian ministry for over 55 years.  I have been chided for speaking out about politics, citing the flawed view that nothing of God can be involved in politics and nothing of politics can be in the church.

I have been asked, “Are you a conservative, liberal, or a progressive?”  I frequently say, “In a strict non-political sense, I am all three, but in a political sense, I am a constitutional conservative.”   My views are not always appreciated.   My opening qualifier is often the fly in the ointment.  However, the question has caused me to reflect on America’s political climate and thinking.

Definitions are often fluid and adapted to accommodate a particular point of view or desire at any given time, so I am careful when I attempt to define the three terms in my title.

When Donald Trump was first elected, some on the political right argued that his election obliterated conservatism.  They became part of the ‘Never Trump’ consortium.  I contend that Mr. Trump’s election has not, did not, and will not destroy conservatism.

If conservatism is destroyed or being destroyed, it began long before Mr. Trump’s entrance into the political arena as a candidate.  I contend that the demise of our Constitutional Republican form of Government has been in the works for over one hundred years.  Some key elements have helped to propel us toward Progressivism and destruction.

Those agendas began in the early part of the last century with the passage and ratification of the 16th and 17th Amendments to our American Constitution.   Some suggest that in a very strict and literal sense, conservatism is opposition to drastic change and embraces caution and prudence, two things that politicians seem to be devoid of.  Conservatism, depending on your country and subject matter, embodies varied and frequently very different definitions.

We can find glaring differences if we debate the differences between American conservatism and progressivism.    American Progressives, at their core, reject the vision our founding fathers had for America and that which the framers of the Constitution fought so diligently to provide.

  • They reject the idea that the Constitution is a ‘safeguard’ for personal freedom and liberty.
  • They desire an All-Powerful Government that is powerful enough and capable of ‘fundamentally transforming’ America by its control of Americans and our institutions.
  • They have evolved from simply wanting Socialized Medicine in America to wanting an America that has socialized medicine, no borders, transgender bathrooms, censorship, mind control, and government-mandated business practices.
  • They, as Barack Obama, believe that America must be ‘fundamentally transformed’ because America was NEVER great or good.
  • They see the Constitution as a hindrance rather than a safeguard, and therein is a significant difference between Liberals and Progressives compared to Conservatives.

Back to my point of the 16th and 17th Amendments being a major factor in advancing the Progressive political ideology and the demise of our Constitutional Republican Form of Government.

The Sixteenth Amendment opened a door that has allowed the bureaucracy of the federal government to grow into such a behemoth that it is insatiable and uncontrollable.    This amendment states: “The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.”

Daniel Webster and John Marshall grasped the terribleness of taxation, as Webster argued in the case of McCulloch v Maryland.  He said, “An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy.”  That warning and revelation went unheeded as this amendment was adopted on February 3, 1913.  Both the 16th and 17th Amendments were ratified in 1913, marking the beginning of the end of limited federal government.

In contrast to the bloody revolutions of progressives in other nations, the American progressives have largely resisted the pleas of men such as Bill Ayers, who have called for a bloody revolution to overthrow the system of government they hate.  Americans, heretofore, have taken the political approach of slow erosion.   Until more recently, the American people have embraced the idea of a Living Constitution, which allows them to modify, misinterpret, misconstrue, and misapply the words of that document as presented by the framers.

Conservativism is, in a real sense, rooted in the idea and desire of restoring the Founders’ and Framers’ idea of America, in which our inalienable rights are protected and defended, and our liberty preserved in the United States of America.

We desire limited government, fiduciary integrity, and government frugality, and a government in which we are afforded all our constitutional and God-given rights and privileges without infringement by the federal government.  Government is not the provider of those rights, and we should always warily remember the words commonly attributed to Thomas Jefferson, “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything that you have.”

If we allow the waters of liberalism and progressivism to continue dripping on the rock of our constitution, it will eventually erode it to the point that it is impotent.  We dare not let that happen, and if we make our focus and fight personalities rather than America, we will facilitate their attack.  I pray we reject that tendency and temptation and Rise to Fight for America!

God bless you, and God bless America!

Politics and Life

When the word ‘politics’ is used, the reactions are varied.  Some of the emotions elicited become insanely violent.  Politics has divided families, nations, communities, and even churches.  However, politics is a part of life and, to a degree, unavoidable, even for those who seek to avoid it.

If we define politics as does the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition, we would be left woefully devoid of the impact it has on lives.   Politics in the 21st Century has become a war zone rather than a civil attempt to provide governance to a free people.

American politics in 2025 seems more about what people hate than what they love.  It is more about branding than standing.  It is more about preference than overall good.   It is more about political parties than pursuing the ideals advanced in the Declaration of Independence.

Politics, like love, is blind!   It is out of that blindness that we make decisions that affect not only the present but future generations.  America is not perfect, no nation is.   Our history is not pristine, but what nation’s is?   There is only one perfect government, and as long as humans make the rules and decisions, it will not exist for human beings.

We have devolved to the place, and maybe we were always there, where we are forced to embrace the lesser of two evils or take a truckload of bad to get a wheelbarrow of good.  We are asked to compromise our convictions in the name of tolerance.  We have adopted a ‘participation trophy’ mentality where bad behavior, laziness, and parasitic behavior are not only accepted but encouraged.

Modern politics has produced more ‘bottom feeders’ than any profession in American history.  Is it the craving for and lure of power?  Is it greed and graft?  Is it the absence of ethics?  Is it fear of rejection or retaliation?  What has produced this monster?   Is there a solution?  Is there any hope for our survival as a Free Constitutional Republic?

I have lost friends over my political and religious views.   I regret that, but am unable to conscientiously ‘stand down’ and ‘compromise’ my convictions.  I will change my opinions but not my convictions unless the Holy Spirit reveals the necessary change through the Word of God.

I have, at times, been very cautious about offending anyone and walked on eggshells while trying to navigate the sensitivity of those who are unable to cope with any disagreement.  I never want to be the source of offense, but biblically, I understand that being offended involves a choice on the part of the one who is offended.  We take offense rather than simply being offended.  I can choose not to allow something the power to offend me.

The battle lines are being drawn in the sand using the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ as the rally cry for the 2026 mid-term elections.  There are distortions on both sides regarding precisely what is provided in that legislation.   The attempts to fan the flames of paranoia and fear are disturbing.  Even those who carry the name ‘Christian’ are falling prey to the rhetoric and hate.

America, I have said for many years, we cannot fix what is wrong in this great country through politics or the ballot box alone.  The real problem is not which party is in power politically, although it is important.  The real problem is not who is president, although that is important.  The real issue is the condition of the human heart.  I do not mean the organ that pumps blood in the body, but what makes us who we are.  The heart or the soul is where the problem lies.

I am in my late seventies now and realize that, even if I live another twenty or thirty years and reach the century mark chronologically, I have a short time left to make a difference in my world.   The driving passion of my heart is a Free, Civil, Constitutional America, where everyone is recognized as being created equal with certain inalienable rights from God Himself.  I am driven to present Jesus to as many people as possible.

I discovered in the late 1960s the peace that comes with full surrender to Jesus and what the promise of an abundant life truly is.   I have made many mistakes in my decades on planet earth, but find God to be long-suffering, merciful, loving, and kind.   I have learned the value of what we call the ‘Golden Rule.’  I have learned that we do not all have to agree about every detail of life to be able to work together and make our world a better place.

The vitriol of today’s politics and the thin-skinned reactions are moving us dangerously near the abyss of self-destruction.   I believe that God is willing to help us if we will acknowledge Him and pursue His precepts and purposes.

I do not pray about sporting events, asking God to help my team win; that would be self-serving and demeaning to God to choose sides in largely unimportant matters.   I do pray that He will motivate people to use reason and consider what is right.  I begin with me, asking Him to help me see clearly.  I believe that if I get Roy Beaird right, that change will affect others positively.  I do not desire to hate anyone!

Politics is important because it is a part of life, and life is the most prized possession we have.    The most important thing is not getting our candidates across the finish line to the victor’s circle but getting ourselves right with God.  If we are right with God, we will get right with other people, even those who hate us.

God bless you and God bless America!

When Emotion Outweighs Reason

It becomes a problem, and sometimes it is “Much Ado About Nothing!”   I am going back several years to the presidential primaries before Donald Trump’s first election.   I want to extract some things from an article written by Dr. Thomas Sowell.   I agree and disagree with Dr. Sowell on many points.

I like Thomas Sowell.  I consider him articulate and insightful; we usually stand shoulder-to-shoulder on issues.  I am not concerned with the candidate Dr. Sowell favored in those primaries.   It doesn’t matter to me if he supports the Establishment Candidate(s).   That is a personal choice.   That is not my focus.

His article, “Grow Up,” was primarily directed toward Donald Trump, his apparent arrogance, and his brashness.  Those very qualities endear Mr. Trump to some and are anathema to others. That is not what I wish to focus on.  The article was, at least in part, about Donald Trump.  However, there were other parts of the article that caught my attention.  Some positions I agree with, and some I do not.  Let me venture where angels might be wise enough to avoid.

  • I completely agree with Dr. Sowell with regard to people allowing “emotion” to outweigh “reason.”  “ Tragically, that happens more frequently than not.
  • I agree that many in politics and elsewhere in America need to, as Dr. Sowell declared, “Grow Up.”
  •  I agree that “talk” will not solve our problems, and as most of you know, I am disturbed by what I call “sound bite politics.”

Please note that Donald Trump was and is not the only candidate utilizing that tool.   Therefore, I am not being critical of President Trump in saying what could be directed to virtually every candidate running for political office.  I want to say to all of them: STOP IT!

I believe that President Trump truly loves America and wants what is best for this nation.  Is he right in all his choices?  I doubt it, but who among us is perfect?  Is he brash and, at times, caustic?  Yes, but he is a New York street fighter businessman who will go toe to toe with anyone to gain an objective.   That seems to be what we need in his present time.   I am supportive of President Trump on most issues!

Dr. Sowell addressed an issue that is a problem, but his solution is not a solution for several reasons, in my opinion.  He said, “If you don’t understand the issues but want to do your patriotic duty, stay home on election night, whether in the primaries or the national election in November.   Uninformed voters turn elections into a game of playing Russian roulette with the future of America.”  He is right, and he is wrong.

Dr. Sowell was right in saying that “uninformed voters” tend to follow emotions, and as one woman in her 80s said, “I voted for Bill Clinton because he was the best-looking candidate.”  Seriously?   Are you Serious?

Sadly, millions voted for Barack Obama solely because he was Black and knew little about his ideology, agenda, or politics.  That kind of voting is tragic, but still allowed in our political system.  I know some who withheld and will withhold their vote because they do not like either major party’s candidates or potential candidates.

Our system allows them to do that even if I think they are wrong.   Some have told me that they Do Not vote a Straight Party Ticket.  That is fine, but when asked about various races and who they voted for, they voted for one party without knowing who the candidate was.  They had no idea what the candidate stood for and what their campaign promises were.

They voted for that individual because of their party affiliation.  I used to think that was a bad idea, but in modern politics, the differences in party platforms and the acquiescence of candidates to the party demands make it a more viable option.  We do not have a voting knowledge test requirement to vote in America.

I would support Dr. Sowell’s solution, IF, and it is a very big if.  If Everyone on both sides of the aisle followed it.  If every truly “uninformed voter,” which may be a very large percentage, opted not to vote if they did not have sufficient information, I might see the benefit.

However, who determines who is “informed,” and who determines what constitutes being “informed?”  How many people would openly acknowledge they were “uninformed?”  I have had people tell me in one breath, “I’m not up to date on politics,” and in the next, staunchly declare they are Informed enough to pick the right candidate.  When asked about the candidate’s stance on various issues, they drew a blank but considered themselves informed.

I have encountered no leftist or left-leaning voter who thought they did not have sufficient knowledge to make their choice.  Some have even argued that they heard it on the radio, saw it on television, or read it on the internet, and the candidate of their party said it, so they considered it to be the truth of the highest order.

I had one person, a Hillary supporter, say to me, “I don’t care if she is guilty.  I’m voting for her because she will stop the Republicans from destroying our country.”    They could offer nothing when asked what specific plans she had to save America.    But Hillary was her choice, and no matter what she was, she did or will do.  She was the preferred choice.  Please understand that there are those on the Republican side who are exactly the same with regard to their chosen or desired nominee.

Therefore, Dr. Sowell, I do not think encouraging people not to vote is the answer.   I believe that working as diligently as we can to “educate” and “inform” with truth and facts, as well as committedly “pray,” is a better path.

I know many say, figuratively if not literally, “Don’t confuse me with the facts; my mind is made up.”   That being said, we will still only had about 64% participation in the 2024 presidential election.      Voting is a choice that should be regarded as extremely important.  However, so should being informed.   What will happen in future elections?   That is entirely up to the American people.  I am convinced God will, as He did with Israel, allow us to have our desires, and the price for that may be incredibly high.

God bless you, and God bless America!

Survival Reality – “Stay the Course”

I have learned in life that, too often, people abandon a purpose, cause, mission, or effort shortly before victory would have been theirs.   I have been guilty of giving up prematurely, only to find sufficient evidence in the days or weeks following that had I stayed the course, there is almost 100% certainty I would have achieved the objective.

There are many accounts in history where, against all odds, some valiant heroes stayed the course and turned the tide in a battle, which ultimately altered the course of war and shaped the course of human history.

  • Had Jesus not stayed the course and gone to the Cross, mankind would be hopeless.
  • Had England not stayed the course under the leadership of Churchill, all of Europe and likely the world would have fallen into the control of Nazi Germany and or the Japanese Empire.  H
  • Had Ronald Reagan not stayed the course in pursuit of the Republican nomination, Jimmy Carter might have won reelection and pushed America further down the path of inflationary and additional national security disasters!
  • Had the Founding Fathers and the colonists who sought Freedom and Liberty not stayed the course in 1776 and beyond, there would be no United States of America.

I have never suggested that one should ignore reality.  However, if the cause was worth beginning the fight, it is worth seeing it through to the conclusion.  In today’s America, we have been facing choices between Constitutional Republicanism and Socialism or Tyranny.

Many have been laboring to enlighten people, vet candidates, and hold politicians accountable by standing up, speaking up, and stepping up for a Free Constitutional Republic.   There are times when we see a light at the end of the tunnel and times when it appears the tunnel has suffered a cave-in, and all is hopeless.

The onslaught of toxic liberalism and globalism is massive, well-orchestrated, and well-funded.  It is a concerted effort to dismantle what the Founding Fathers established and for which the colonists fought and died.   We must “Stay the Course!”

I make this appeal because I have seen and heard many who are becoming so weary of the struggle.   The frequent abandonment of constitutional principles by Congress wearies the hearts of many citizens, and their hearts are growing faint.   Some have told me, “I have made up my mind, NONE OF THE ABOVE,” with regard to virtually all future elections.

They have given up.   They are throwing in the towel and conceding defeat.   I spend almost as much time trying to encourage some of them as I do in my efforts to enlighten and challenge the false narrative of the leftist who would “fundamentally transform” America.  We Must Stay the Course!

We are too near the end to quit now.  In my years of ministry, I have often challenged believers, saying, “The devil cannot win (in our situation) unless we quit.”  Christ defeated him at the Cross.  Likewise, the massive push of the Progressives, Liberals, Socialists, RINOs, and all who promote Bigger Government, More Spending, and More Federal Control can only win if WE, THE PEOPLE, fail to “stay the course.”

It is impossible not to realize that there is massive voter fraud, rigging elections, deep pockets, diabolical alliances, and millions of dollars to buy an election.  Sadly, too many are blind or willingly blind to political reality in America.    But I ask, “Is not our cause worthy of whatever it takes to Stay the Course?”

Each election, especially national elections, is the most critical election we will have faced.   We must not become complacent or resigned to business as usual, and we must not cede defeat.  We must “Stay the Course!”   We must stand for “Faith, Family, and Freedom!”

God bless you, and God bless America!

My Cornerstones – “Faith, Family, and Freedom”

Early in life, I learned the importance of setting benchmarks, establishing landmarks, and finding purpose.    My family has always been loyal to each other.  We did and do not always agree, but we have always “had each other’s backs” and stood and stand ready to offer assistance, encouragement, and even counsel when asked.

My grandfather, C.R. Kellum, had impeccable integrity, honesty, and dedication to family. I learned things that became solidified as the Cornerstones of my life from him, my mother, and my father.   After receiving Christ as my Savior, I was strengthened by biblical realities.

What my parents and grandparents taught me, combined with what God has brought into my life, has anchored my conviction that the three most essential things in my life are Faith, Family, and freedom.

I am keenly aware that politicians, including some past presidents, desire to find ways to enact stringent “gun control.”   They have been willing to bypass Congress and the Constitution to achieve their agenda.  They have been averse to using the Amendment process because of its difficulty in achieving.   They do not desire that ‘we the people’ decide that issue.

Some advocates of ‘gun control’ or ‘gun ban’ insist that it is the moral obligation of politicians to strip citizens of their right to “keep and bear arms.”   They insist that doing so would make America safer, although factual evidence decries their positions and postulations.

Barack Hussein Obama and Joe Biden frequently ignored the Constitution, and Obama lamented that it was too restrictive.  Some presidents seem to view themselves as did the Kings of yesteryear, divinely appointed sovereigns with unlimited power.   They ignore the Constitutional restrictions and our well-designed system of “checks and balances.”

My Cornerstone of Faith drives everything I am and do.  Some have questioned my being vocal about my faith in the same sentence with politics, citing the misinterpretation of “separation of church and state.”  Some have argued that, as a Christian, I am prohibited from expressing any political view and should restrict all my comments to the spiritual and biblical.

I believe that my stance on politics is grounded in biblical principles.  You may disagree, and I respect that; however, I believe I have a Biblical mandate to “warn of danger” when I see it.  I believe that if I see destruction, regardless of the sphere or realm in which danger resides or operates, I am obligated to sound the alarm and shout a warning of the threat from the walls.

I desire to live in such a manner that my life honors the LORD Jesus Christ.  I hope to demonstrate integrity in all that I do.    I want to win as many as possible for the Family of God and rob hell of potential occupants.    I believe our Christian mandate is not just to get to heaven someday, but that we bring heaven to earth today.  We do that through Christ living in and through us, enabling us to live the life the Bible calls ‘Abundant Life.’

My Cornerstone of Family demands that I fiercely and faithfully do everything I can to provide for my own and to protect and defend them to the best of my ability.   I believe that a family unit with both a father and a mother in the home is ideal.  I believe that when the extended family unit is intact, it can offer incredible support, comfort, and encouragement for those who are destined to become the patriarchs and matriarchs of the family.

The health of the family unit is not automatic and requires the investment of time and energy.  Families can grow together or apart, which largely depends on the effort we put into it.  Sometimes, there may be a family member who goes rogue and rebels.   There is often little we can do other than love and pray for them.

I have witnessed families disintegrate so completely that they have never been able to achieve restoration and reconciliation.  I treasure Family, and next to GOD, Family is the most essential thing in my life.  It is Faith, then Family, and Freedom!

My Cornerstone of Freedom is a patriotic and biblical view of the inalienable rights of all mankind.    I value the sacrifices made in 1776 (before and beyond) to secure freedom and establish the United States of America.   I value the sacrifices of those in the various wars and conflicts our nation has been engaged in fighting for liberty and freedom, or to preserve those for posterity.

Benjamin Franklin’s quote regarding liberty and safety is apropos.  He said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”  Freedom is not negotiable, nor should it be.

In modern America, we have been exposed to a type of governance that appears to believe that freedom is what those in power decide.  They do not believe that our rights are inalienable, coming from God, as detailed in the Constitution, and authenticated by the Bible and natural reason.

We have endured governance that desires us to willingly give up liberty under the guise that those in power will keep us safe.   Liberty relinquished is seldom, if ever, regained without a revolution.

My focus in 2025 is centered on my cornerstones: Faith, Family, and Freedom.   If my Faith is a problem to anyone, I understand why you might feel you cannot walk with me.   If my commitment to and belief in Family are problematic and you cannot tolerate my views, I understand your decision to depart.  If my commitment to Freedom completely contrasts with your views, I would understand your pushing me aside.

As the Bible teaches, I believe “two cannot walk together except they are in agreement.”    We do not have to agree on everything, and it is doubtful that we will. However, if what I believe and stand for is beyond your ability to tolerate, I understand and wish you well.  I hope everyone can find enough common ground to work together to achieve the objective of maintaining our constitutional liberties and preserving the constitutional republic known as the United States of America.

God bless you, and God bless America!

PS I have added a 4th Cornerstone, but did not address it in this post. That cornerstone is Friends.  I treasure friends.  God bless you for being one.

The Taboo Topic I’m Not Afraid Of

What is that topic?   It is the mistaken idea that our Founding Fathers and the U.S. Constitution mandate the Separation of Church and State in all things and at all times!

Now that I have ignited the fuse, I want to address this issue from a Constitutional perspective.  I believe it is vital that we approach it from the position of Original Intent.   Over the past several decades, the phrase “Separation of Church and State” has been invoked in legal cases more than 4,000 times.

That position stems from a flawed understanding of the Original Intent of the Framers of the American Constitution.  It was the catalyst for removing prayer from schools, effectively invocations at public school sporting events.  It was the tool used to remove the Ten Commandments from public or government buildings.  It was the basis upon which we allowed the removal of Nativity scenes from public parks and events.   Beyond that, it has been used to remove or ban several types of popular religious expressions, such as “Merry Christmas.”

The Founding Father most associated with the “Separation of Church and State” was Thomas Jefferson.  The phrase is well-known, but its history is obscure to most.  Most people today believe that the Constitution bans all religious activities from public buildings, courtrooms, schools, and government offices.    If we understood the history, we would come to a very different understanding of the “Original Intent” and possibly realize the damage we have done to our foundational principles as the Constitutional Republic of our Framers and Founders.

Historically, the phrase was introduced in the 1500s by prominent ministers in England and was in use in the 1600s, long before Jefferson mentioned it.   If we look at the Bible, we will find that when God established the nation of Israel, He placed Moses over the civil government and Aaron over the spiritual.

2 Chronicles 26 provides an understanding of how God insisted that the two jurisdictions be kept separate.   King Uzziah’s reign lasted 52 years, which was unheard of in that era for a regime to last that long.  In 2 Chronicles 26:16, we find something dramatic happening that changed everything.

The King unlawfully entered the temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.  He decided that, as king, he had the authority and right to reign over both aspects of government, the civil and the religious.  He crossed the line, a line drawn by God Himself.  The priests withstood him in a daring act of courage, but the king used his kingship to overrule them.  It was at that point that God struck him with leprosy, and Uzziah fled the temple in horror and humiliation.

This precedent led to heads of state declaring themselves as heads of the Church, and the church was “secularized” to the hurt of its purpose and function.   The widespread atrocities that ensued were some of the most horrific in human history, often in the name of the Church and wrongly claiming to be doing God’s bidding and service.

Due to the corruption of the Church’s purpose, we find in the 1500s, Bible-based ministers began to stand up to the Crown, often to their own destruction.  It was Englishman Richard Hooker who used the phrase as a call to sanity and order.

King Henry VIII wanted a divorce, but the Church refused to grant one.  The King promptly established his own National Church, with himself as its head, and granted his own divorce.  The English Parliament passed laws on who could or could not take the sacraments and defined the qualifications for ministering.

Other ministers joined that cause, including Reverend John Greenwood, who pioneered the church that many of the Pilgrims attended when they were still in England.    At that time, Queen Elizabeth was head of both the State and the Church, and Greenwood famously declared, “There could be but one head of the church, and that head was not the Queen, but Christ.”

Greenwood was executed for denying Her Majesty’s ecclesiastical supremacy simply to the Crown; He was convicted as a traitor and executed for what were called treasonous acts.   The Pilgrims fled England to Holland, then to America, and boldly advocated for “Separation of Church and State.”

They believed, rightly, that the government had no right or authority to “compel religion, to plant churches by power, and to force a submission to ecclesiastical government by laws and penalties.”  Many of the Christian colonists had endured persecution at the hands of State leaders who had commandeered the Church.

In the American colonies, ministers such as Roger Williams, John Wise, William Penn, and more were strong advocates of “Separation of Church and State.”  In the development of the American colonies, we find that the Separation Doctrine was never used to secularize the public square, but quite the opposite.

The founders and colonists believed in Separation to protect rather than banning voluntary public religious practices.   Quaker leader Will Wood declared: “The separation of Church and State does not mean the exclusion of God, righteousness, morality, from the State.”  American Bishop Charles Galloway agreed, stating: “The separation of the Church from the State did not mean the severance of the State from God or the nation from Christianity.”

Thomas Jefferson’s use of the phrase “Separation of Church and State” did not advocate the modern idea of “Separation.”   His letter where the phrase is used, was to the Danbury Baptist:

“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.  Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation on behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.”

Jefferson argued that the Government should be prevented from establishing a national church as it existed in England and elsewhere.  He strongly advocated for our inalienable rights, not the banning of all things Christian, biblical, or religious from the public sector.

Eventually, our Framers and Founders placed these words within the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the Free Exercise thereof.”    Unfortunately, the first portion, the “Establishment Clause,” is used to ban religion from all public or government properties, functions, and agencies.   The “Free Exercise Clause” is largely ignored.

If you read the wording carefully and honestly, you will realize that both clauses were pointed solely and directly at the State, not the Church.  The State is prohibited from enforcing religious conformity, and this amendment also seeks to ensure that the State would protect, not suppress, the rights of the citizens, the rights of conscience and religious expression.

Jefferson reaffirmed that position repeatedly in his writings.  We have allowed the secularists to steal an inalienable right and foundational principle from us, and that has led to much of the difficulty we now face in our American government and society.

I do not expect everyone to agree with me.  Still, if we want to see America restored, we must return to our founding principles and interpret the Constitution under the light of original intent.

God bless you, and God bless America!
