I love hearing politicians assert the postulation that “Nobody is above the law.”  Of course, the Democrats always include the addendum, “Including the President.”  That is theoretically true but is a million miles from reality regarding Congress and the bureaucratic denizens of the political swamp that has been created in our Republic.

I do not wonder why so many in various sectors of our society have no respect for and little confidence in the Rule of Law today.  A significant problem arises when those charged with “enforcing the law” are exposed as “lawbreakers” and yet do so with impunity. 

John Solomon of ‘The Hill’ has delved into this matter more deeply than many and discovered some disturbing things.  His offerings of violations and impunity are clearly a drop in the bucket and reflect a much deeper and far more expansive problem.  I am hopeful that the new Attorney General William Barr will take positive steps to restore confidence in the Department of Justice and our American System of Justice.  I like the fact that he is targeting the investigators in the Russian collusion hoax that we have had imposed on us for over two years.  That is a step in the right direction, but…

But, what?  But if, as Solomon revealed the Department of Justice (DOJ) allows those within its own ranks to be granted immunity and allowed to blatantly break the law without accountability, the problem will only grow larger.  This problem did not begin with Trump or Barr but has existed for an incredibly long time and is producing fuel to the fire of anarchy.  Solomon discovered that the DOJ has been granting immunity to bureaucratic miscreants and allowing them to go free without prosecution.  That has happened, even though the Inspector General made criminal referrals.  That must not continue!

Solomon gave four examples, and these were not the members of the Political Coup against Donald Trump.  These were cases of U.S. Department of Justice employees charged with catching criminals and prosecuting them committing crimes themselves.  These were members of the FBI, DEA, and U.S. Attorney’s offices.  They broke the law, but a blind eye was turned and, I suppose, based on their association with the DOJ or the government were given a free pass.  How many of us would be afforded that luxury?  How many of the Trump team have been?

One of the perps was caught red-handed engaging in nepotism.  A lawyer admitted to shoplifting at a Marine Exchange.  Another leaked sealed court information to the news media.  Another participated in fraud by turning a government garage into a personal repair shop.  Were they indicted, fined or jailed?  Nope!  There is little evidence that they were even reprimanded.  Is that Trump’s fault?  Hardly because this is not new, but it is the responsibility of the new Attorney General to stop that ‘brother-in-law, ole boy practice’ of protecting their own. 

I contend, as do many others, that when those charged with enforcing the law break the law with impunity, we have tyranny.  When members of Congress can defraud the government and owe millions in back taxes with impunity, we have tyranny.  When a high-level politician who violated numerous federal laws conducting state business over a private email server is granted immunity, we have an invitation to chaos and anarchy.  When the Rule of Law is utterly disregarded by those charged with enforcing our laws and those of the Club (Politicians, Bureaucrats, and Government) are protected and allowed to continue their illegalities, we invite destruction.

We have witnessed the vilification of former Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and others in the Trump administration who claimed that some FBI employees were upset that no charges were brought against Hillary.  However, now Andrew McCabe has confirmed that some FBI employees were ‘frustrated’ that no charges were brought against Hillary, who clearly violated the law. Those illegalities were acknowledged by former FBI Directory James Comey but he then through his self-made god status declared, “She had no intent to do harm.”  Therefore, he absolved her and excused her crimes.  How many of us would have been afforded that ‘get out of jail free card?’  How many of Trumps associates have been?

McCabe said in his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on December 21, 2017, that some FBI personnel were “surprised” and “frustrated” with the result of the Clinton email case.  In July 2016, James Comey held the infamous press conference and announced that “no charges were appropriate.”  That is not, was not, and will never be the job of the FBI to make such pronouncements. 

From Congressional records, it appears that there was at least one FBI special agent willing to go on record with the concerns of the bureau.  The statement I have read was, “This is a textbook case where a grand jury should have been convened but was not. That is appalling.”  This agent, although I cannot uncover the name, apparently worked in public corruption and criminal cases for the bureau. 

The Daily Caller obtained the transcript and the agent continued saying, “We talk about it in the office and don’t know how Comey can keep going.”  That sounds like frustration and deep concern within the FBI over the partisan immunity transpiring.  That is dangerous for the Republic.  Not that agents within the bureau are frustrated but that the heads of that agency would act so blatantly partisan and ignore the clear directives of the law.

In today’s political world in America it does appear that some are ‘above the law’.  Not that they should be, but the reality is members of Congress and other federal agencies, bureaus, and departments, denizens of the swamp and members of the ‘good ole boy club’ are immune and protected.  That does not bode well for our Republic and another reason that I want to Drain the Swamp.  I don’t care what political hat they wear, if they are Swamp Denizens I want them roasted and toasted on the open fire of justice.
