I had someone tell me that God was our Last Resort regarding America and our Republic. I paused a moment and said, “He should have been our first.” That was not well received, and I was castigated with, “Well, you know what I mean.” No, frankly, I do not know whether you meant that after exhausting all other avenues we should now turn to God or having trusted Him all along and exhausted all other avenues He is now our only hope. I hope it was the latter but for many, it was the former, and therein is part of the problem.
My friend Dale Gentry said, “We trusted the ballot box and that did not save us. We trusted the courts and they did not save us. Our only hope is God.” Dale is right! In a measure, we put our confidence in people, the voters, the courts, and Congress and each of those seems to have failed us.
Obviously, if you believe God was so repulsed by Trump that he had to go, then my argument is moot to you and probably offensive. If you have been paying attention, watching the antics and activities of the Left, and are tuned in to the dangers it should ignite a flame inside your heart. We are in a place where we MUST not need to but MUST place our total trust in God. No man, no court, no Congress, no Media, nothing, and no one is going to save this Republic but God. He is our Hope. In that sense, He is our Last Resort.
Some have asked me if I believed there were enough incidences of voter fraud and irregularities in the swing states to shift the election to the Democrats. The simple and short answer is Yes! I do not know the details and will not get into the wrangling of what happened. It happened, the courts refused to hear the arguments and evidence, and Congress certified the election. Joe Biden has been sworn in as the 46th President of the United States of America. In that sense, the election is over. What we do now, is the key and will determine if there is a republic in 2022 and 2024 for us to fight for a new administration.
I have had people tell me that whatever God wants to happen happens and there is nothing we can do about it. His will is always done. If I accept that premise, then God becomes the blame for the evil in the world. If I accept that premise, how do I explain abortion, murder, rape, pedophilia, terrorism, and things like that? I believe that God is the Living God, Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent. I believe that He can do all things. I believe He could mash us all like bugs if he chose to. However, I believe that He gives us choices and out of those choices we either follow in obedience or we engage in rebellion.
I don’t want to make this about what God can and cannot do, but if we are going to consider God as our Last Resort, we need to determine His authority and power. The Bible informs us in 2 Peter 3:9, “The LORD does not delay [as though He were unable to act] and is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is [extraordinarily] patient toward you, not wishing any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” The sad reality is that all do not come to repentance, therefore, it would seem logical that all God wants is not etched in stone as an iron-clad guarantee of transpiring. He makes salvation available to ‘whosoever will come’ but all do not come.
We are repeatedly enjoined to pray, intercede, stand in the gap, and do spiritual warfare. If everything is done as God wants it without any involvement from us that would seem unnecessary. As a parent, I want my children, and now my grandchildren to be productive and successful. I would hope that every parent wants that, yet we know that all are not. The prisons are overflowing with those that did not achieve that condition or state.
I am deeply concerned about our Republic. We are more divided than I can recall in my lifetime. There are more bitterness and anger than I have witnessed in my 70 plus years on the planet. We are nearer to a second civil war than we have been since the first one. People on both sides of the issue are filled with anger and anxiety and that has become a powder keg waiting for the right spark to set it off. Will it within the next four years? I hope not but have a lot of trepidation about where this is going.
The Democrats are chanting that it is time for healing and working together in one breath and in the next, they vilify those on the Right. There is the ignoring of the mayhem, rioting, bands of marauders burning, looting, and doing physical harm by groups on the Left and branding those who committed the terrible act of entering the Capital without authorization and five souls lost their lives. I consider it something to be condemned but so are the other events over the past year.
When BLM, Antifa, or whoever it was, took over a police station and isolated a segment of the city declaring it was no longer the United States and outside the jurisdiction of America that was not called insurrection or sedition, but the events of January 6th were. That is beyond hypocritical, provides no impetus for healing, and further divides. The rhetoric by Joe Biden calling them thugs, insurrectionist, domestic terrorists, etc. but insisting that Antifa is just an idea does not bring healing but division.
America, if we are going to survive as the Free Constitutional Republic, we have been for over 240 years we must return to our founding principles and moral moorings. We must hold all violators of the Law and the Constitution accountable. That includes members of Congress, Presidents, Judges, Media types, and private citizens. Everyone must be held accountable for violations of the Law and the Constitution. If we do that, we will begin the process of healing and restoration. If we do not, we will continue in discord, disharmony, and disruption. The choice is ours!
I do not believe we can heal without divine intervention. I do not believe the level of hate, misinformation, and deception can be simply talked out but will result in blood in the streets without a change of heart. There are no laws that can be passed that will heal our nation. There are no entitlements, freebies, or concessions that can be made that will produce healing and reconciliation. The only thing that will bring about peace is a change of heart and that will only come through a move of God.
I realize that what I am saying will be considered more preaching than a presentation of a political argument and plea. I can live with that for I believe in America and believe that if those who truly love God and are followers of the Bible and the Christian Faith will follow the directive of 2 Chronicles 7:14, we can see the healing of our land.
I hear some that are so disheartened they will no longer be involved in the political and that is suicidal. I hear some who are so angry they will no longer vote for anyone calling themselves a Republican for they believe they are the same as the Democrats. I believe that is wrong if you look beyond personalities to platforms and political platforms. The Republicans, for the most part, are pro-life, pro-military, pro-law enforcement, and pro-constitution. The Democrats are the party of abortion, desire to dismantle the military, and want to defund the police. The constitution has been an afterthought to them, and they ignore or reinterpret it to fit their purposes.
I plead with everyone to stay engaged and become more involved. I urge all who pray to commit to intercessory prayer for the elected officials, the segments of society that are at odds with each other, and for our republic. My desire is to seek ‘first’ the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. I refuse to hate and desire to exhibit the Love of God to everyone. I may not agree with your position or your actions, but I refuse to hate you based on actions, political views, or ethnicity. You are a fellow human and therefore created in the image of God. We are of the same family.
God bless you and God bless America!
