The more I study history and reflect upon the condition of our modern America the more I appreciate the wisdom and wit of our Founding Fathers. They were patriots who sacrificed everything for the cause of Freedom and Liberty. They believed that all people were endowed with inalienable rights that came from our Creator and that the government must never be allowed to infringe upon those rights. Today’s modern American politician believes the converse and has repeatedly sought to infringe upon our God-given rights and freedoms!
I want to begin with some pertinent and germane quotes from our Founding Fathers as a springboard to where I want to go in this blog post. I hope you will allow me the privilege and carefully digest what they said and then examine with an open heart and mind what I am going to suggest.
“A nation under a well-regulated government should permit none to remain uninstructed. It is monarchical and aristocratical government only that requires ignorance for its support.” – – Thomas Paine, Rights of Man, 1792
“The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind.” – – Thomas Paine, Common Sense, 1776
“An elective despotism was not the government we fought for, but one in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among the several bodies of magistracy as that no one could transcend their legal limits without being effectually checked and restrained by the others.” – – James Madison, Federalist No. 58, 1788
“Each State, in ratifying the Constitution, is considered as a sovereign body, independent of all others, and only to be bound by its own voluntary act. In this relation, then, the new Constitution will if established, be a FEDERAL, and not a NATIONAL constitution.” – – James Madison, Federalist No. 39, January 1788
“A free people [claim] their rights as derived from the laws of nature, and not as the gift of their chief magistrate.” – – Thomas Jefferson, Rights of British America, 1774
“And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath. Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep forever.” – – Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, Query 18, 1781
“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” – – George Washington, Farewell Address, September 19, 1796
“The Constitution which at any time exists, ’till changed by an explicit and authentic act of the whole People is sacredly obligatory upon all.” – – George Washington, Farewell Address, September 19, 1796
What do those quotes suggest was the mindset of our founders regarding the federal government? I believe it is clear, they believed government must be limited and that “We the People” must always be recognized as the true owners and overseers of the government. We allowed that to be eroded and modified bringing us to the condition of today.
Our founders were willing to put everything on the line for Liberty not only for themselves but for successive generations into perpetuity. I was stunned when I heard former President Barack Obama declare he was better at the job of ruling. Ruling? He also lamented that the Constitution was cumbersome and hindered him from doing what he wanted to do but he was getting better at getting around that.
That is the mindset of virtually all the adherents of the national Democratic Party and too many on the other side of the aisle. That shows the utter contempt for our Constitution and the intent of the Framers for this nation. Every president is required to swear an oath to “protect and defend” the Constitution of these United States. Any president or politician that seeks to subvert, circumvent, by-pass, trample upon, or disregard it should be quickly shown the door. It is time that we replace them with people who will honor and abide by the Constitution. I say that about ALL Politicians of all stripes!
With the mindset that has been and is expressed and demonstrated by a large swath of politicians, in Washington, I must ask, “When did the American People rescind the Constitution?” I must have missed the vote, because to my knowledge we have not!
Observing the activities and hearing the rhetoric of the progressive liberal socialists, causes one to wonder if they think that the American people have revoked the Constitution or given them the authority to ignore it. No politician is given unlimited powers by our Constitution. No politician, Judge or Bureaucrat has been given, carte blanche, that latitude or freedom. The rhetoric and agenda being pursued by the Left suggest they believe there are no restraints or limitations imposed upon them by the Constitution. THEY ARE WRONG!
Their method of governance causes me to ask, “When did we, the American People, revoke the Constitution.” I cannot find any record of that action and if the Constitution is still intact, it is incumbent upon Congress and the Courts to put a stop to this madness and absolutely incumbent upon, WE THE PEOPLE to demand that all three branches of government operate under the dictates of the Constitution.
Those who desire the destruction of the system of Free Market Capitalism and want the Federal Government to be the Lord of All, are tireless in their efforts, devious in their methods, and skillful in their pursuit of that objective. Sadly, those of us who desire America restored to the original intent of the Founding Fathers too often, remain separated by petty differences and lose sight of the overall objective because our particular pet issue is not addressed as we desire, or our preferred candidate is not chosen.
The Liberal Left is not so divided. Frequently, they unite as a block and do not deviate from the charted course. Unfortunately, many that follow them do not understand what that course truly is. But they have been indoctrinated with the mind-numbing hype of the liberal, progressive, socialist left, they think that they are doing what is best for the country by supporting those who are quietly dismantling our country and moving to enslave all the people not just us on the opposing side. There will be a day of reckoning and if we don’t wake up, unite, and resist this destruction we will lose this nation. As for me and my house, WE CHOOSE FREEDOM over TYRANNY!
It is time that all believers in Freedom, the Bible, and God fall on our faces before the Almighty God and repent of our complacency and complicity in this destruction. It is time that we return to our moral moorings, call evil, evil and good, good. It is time that we cease hiding from our shadows and realize that this nation was founded to belong to the American people, not the American politicians or foreign entities that own them. God is our guide, our source, and our Hope. Therefore, I ask that you join me in returning to God and in intercessory prayer for our nation!
God bless you and God bless America!
Amen! A powerful speech that all of America needs to hear!
