
I, as have millions of others, have been praying fervently for America, the land that we love. I have not been delinquent in my observation and vetting all the information that I can about things transpiring in my beloved nation. At times, my heart is so heavy I can hardly stand to face the day. At other times, I am encouraged as I see a flicker of light indicating an awakening in the populace. I have been diligently praying for an answer to what is to be done to salvage this Republic.
I do not have all the answers and may not have any answers, but I know the One who does! Yes, I mean God! I know that in the Word of God, the Bible there are descriptions of our condition and there are invitations to walk into the fullness and victory He offered and is offering. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that our Lord Jesus Christ is Every the Same. He is the same today as He was and will be the same tomorrow! He Does Not Change!
As I was reading and praying a few days ago I sensed in my heart of hearts that Matthew 13:14-15 was a description of America. If I back up to Matthew 13:13 the words of Jesus leap off the page, “…because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear nor do they understand.” As I read that, I wept and thought, that is what I see in much of America and virtually all of Congress and the Media.
They see but do not perceive or recognize what they see. They see it through the lens of their rhetoric and agenda. Sadly, that can be applied to all sides of the political equation, but the followers of toxic liberalism and globalism are assuredly suffering this condition. Also, they hear but what they hear is filtered through their ideological views and they neither hear the truth nor do they understand the condition or dangers lurking in the shadows.
In Matthew 13:14-15, Jesus reminded us that condition was reflective of a prophecy Isaiah gave. People would hear but never understand. Look but never see. Then in verse 15 comes the clincher. It says, “For the heart of this people has become dull…” Wow! The Greek means weighty, heavy, and even more revealing grievous!
It continues, “…their ears can barely hear, and they have shut their eyes.” That is damning. Even if we hear the danger, the damage, and destruction but have no perception or understanding we allow our ears to become wax filled and then we SHUT OUR EYES!
I am saddened when I hear nationally recognized ministers Shut Their Eyes to what is happening. When I hear them attempt to appease rather than lead to the light that brings freedom and victory. They accuse others who are crying out in a call to repentance as being political, but it is they who are attempting to protect their turf and keep the votes of approval in their column. That is political.
Jesus said regarding that condition that because of it, “Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts. Then they would turn back, and I would heal them.” America, that, is descriptive of both the condition and the solution to what is happening in America. I have been shouting from the rooftops for a long time that the problem is the condition of the heart! Jesus said, that if we would see and hear and turn back from the destructive humanistic anti-God path, He would heal us!
In Matthew 15:8-9, our Lord quotes another prophecy by Isaiah which identifies too much of the world and the church today. He said, “This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” Our preferences, ideologies, and agendas can never be a replacement for the Word of God and the Precepts of God. God is Holy, Loving, and Just.
I hear people on both sides using vitriolic language against the opposing views. That is anathema to the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. The Bible insists that a fruit or indicator of our heart’s condition is the presence or absence of Love. Love for God. Love for our fellow man. We may detest what they do or stand for, but unless we can muster love for the individuals no matter how misguided or deceived, we are missing the mark!
We have a nation so divided it may never find the pathway to reconciliation. We have abandoned moral rightness for personal preference. We have abandoned the clear teachings of the Bible and elevated human reason to the pinnacle of our lives. We have engaged in calling that which is evil, immoral, destructive, good, right, and progressive. Just because you don’t like a particular passage from the Bible, does not mean you are right in your abandonment of it.
I find that there are times when a passage so torments me that I would like to take a black marker and mark it out. Yet, I know that it is there for the purpose of redemption and if I am out of compliance with it in my heart and my life, I need to submit to the discipline and repent. Repentance is an almost forgotten word in many pulpits today because it is uncomfortable. God is not out to get us; He is out to restore us and give us Life and that more abundant. He is seeking to bring us into the right relationship with Him. That condition of rightness with God enables us to be right with ourselves and others.
America, Joe Biden is not the problem, he is a symptom or a side effect of the problem. Abortion is a problem and a slap in God’s face, but it is also a symptom of the real problem. Racism is wrong, but it too is a symptom of the condition of the heart. Racism is not one-sided, and it is learned.
Our Founding Fathers, in the Declaration of Independence, gave a clear indication of their view of our Hope to be Free. The words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Those words embody the mindset of our Founding Fathers. They knew that unless we embraced that philosophy and core conviction we would not survive as a Republic.
Those seeking to destroy the America of our beginning have advanced distortions, lies, and misinformation regarding the position of God, the Bible, and Christianity in the affairs of Government. Using the threat of the 501(c)3, tax exemption, and other measures they have silenced pulpits and coerced them into an agreement with their demand for a separation the Founders did not endorse. Through the educational system, we have produced at least two generations of Americans who have believed the lie and are blindly following the pied pipers of destruction to the obliteration of our Republic.
We can save America, but only if we “Turn and Return” to God. If we do not come to grips with the reality that all are created in the image of God. If we do not come to terms with the truth that although we disagree, we are members of the same human family, created by God. We are all people He desires to rescue from perishing.
I do not ask that anyone like, agree with, or condone evil and anti-American policies. I do ask that we allow the Love (Agape) of God to fill our hearts so that we can look beyond our differences and see a fellow human in need of God’s Mercy. I ask that we force ourselves to be civil.
I believe that if we will do that and make up our minds to see what is happening objectively without bias or prejudice, we will find the path to peace. I believe that America’s only hope is God! Love me or hate me for this position, your choice. But as for me and my house, we Choose the Pathway of Christ and we will serve the Lord!
