We have all heard the saying, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you.”  That is beyond ridiculous on every level, but it seems to be a philosophy many take in life and spills over into politics. 

Just because you do not know you have a deadly disease does not mean the disease will not spread and take your life because of your unawareness or ignorance.  Turning off the warning lights on your car’s dash will not magically cause the internal issues to disappear because you do not know what they are.  Walking in the darkness with danger lurking in the shadows does not mean you are safe because you do not see what is there.  But, if we ascribe to the philosophy, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you,” we should be safe. 

If ignorance is bliss, we in America should be the happiest people in the entire world.  Those in power seek to keep us ignorant and in the dark about what is truly taking place in the swamp, deep state, under the table, and behind the scenes.  They are successfully perpetuating our ignorance with the help of most social media, the mainstream media, and an unlimited amount of help from federal bureaucracies and activist groups. 

The approach of hiding pertinent facts from the public is anathema to our founding principles and violates both the biblical directive and the Constitution of the United States of America.  When the three branches of the government aid, wittingly or unwittingly, to the disinformation, misinformation, and lack of information, our Republic suffers.  We live in dire times politically, socially, economically, and every facet of life.  What we do not know is destroying us!

Where do I begin regarding the lack of transparency in government?  I could begin almost anywhere, and there would be a plethora of issues to discuss.  We could talk about leaks and spend days discussing the dangers.  We could talk about financial windfalls to politicians via corruption and illegal dealings and spend weeks and not scratch the surface.  We could talk about election fraud and probably start a war of words that would be never-ending. 

I cannot wrap my head around why so many, even clergy members, are unwilling to call sin a sin and speak to the unbiblical events in today’s world and government.  Are we so focused on position, purse, power, and prominence that we are filled with fear that we might lose congregants or finances that we become complicit in the destruction through our silence?  I do not know the complete answer, but after talking to some pastors, I have heard some extremely invalid justifications.  Letting politicians handle the politics and believing that God, the Bible, and our Faith have no place in life and politics is deadly.

Let us discuss the most recent Pentagon leaks, for a moment. The fact that our intel security would be so porous and without proper safeguards that anyone from the inside could access and leak classified information is not a minor issue.  It is a National Security Issue of epic proportions.  But we live in a time when politicians seem to play free and loose with our classified documents, which encourages some to do so.  The reasons for this, or any leak, may or may not be fully understood or ever determined, but the lack of internal security is a problem.

Under former President Bill Clinton, some of our technology found its way into the hands of the Chinese and other foreign governments.  It appeared and to some degree has been documented that the Clintons were complicit and benefited monetarily and in other ways.  We know that information through Barack Obama and Joe Biden has made its way into the hands of some of our enemies.  When intelligence information is leaked, it usually endangers Americans. 

I do not know what Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira intended when he posted them online.  Was it as dumb as trying to impress his friends?  I doubt it, but that may be the spin that is spun to hide deeper problems and expose corruption and ineptitude in the Pentagon and Government.  We may never know, but what we do not know can and will hurt us.  It already has and is.

I understand that intelligence can be accurate but outdated.  Some of what he leaked may fall into that category, but either way, it is still a significant problem and must be dealt with immediately.  During WWII, the saying, “Loose lips sink ships,” came to the fore, which is applicable today.  When information is released that provides compromising information as to some valuable sources compromising and endangering them, that is a serious problem.  When we give our enemies information on how we collect data, we give them a vehicle to plug that hole and relegate us to the darkness. 

Beyond the damage done by the leaks and the dangers presented is the glaring reality that the White House is lying to us about this and many other things, if not everything.  It seems to be highly apparent that the war in Ukraine is much worse than we are led to believe by this administration.  It also appears that Taiwan is more than a little vulnerable to the aggression desired by Communist China. 

It seems that Jack Teixeira was able to access the information leaked through Intelink.  That is a classified system where there are thousands of intelligent websites.  That is thousands, not some, but multitudes.  How did he have access?  Why was he able to access that information?  Who in the chain of command authorized his access if anyone did? 

We continue to expand government and the intelligence community into fragmented and separate entities, making it impossible to keep track of what is happening.  That is a problem!  We have eighteen intelligence agencies.  Many of them overlap and sometimes interfere with each other.  Each of those agencies requires many people to work in and manage them.  Each new person is supposed to have the necessary clearances, which demands detailed and proper vetting.  Did that happen?

When we allow too many people to have hands-on and eyes on sensitive material, the danger is always present that leaks, sabotage, and spying will transpire.  We invite this kind of thing as we expand government and the agencies that are supposed to be watching our backs and keeping us safe.  We do not seem to have an effective system in place to know who is seeing what, when, and why.  We must know who, what, why, when, and where they see it.  We must know who prints what and who reads what. 

There are so many other things we do not know, and each has the potential to harm and even destroy our Republic.  Congress, it is time for you to do your job and stop playing party politics.  Courts, it is time for you to do your job of rendering judgments based on the rule of law and the Constitution.  Mr. President, it is time for you or whoever sits in the White House to do what is in America’s best interest and be honest with us.  Maybe we cannot handle the truth, but without it, we are left to speculate and are not given the opportunity to rectify the problem. 

I am deeply concerned for my nation and pray for God’s grace and forgiveness for myself and my country.  It is time for us to return to constitutionalism, biblical precepts, and moral sanity.  Anything less with add to our demise and increase our danger.
