When one of the new darlings of the Democrat Party, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can slam half of America with the amazing insult that the Illegals are more American than Trump supporters, it makes me angry.  Yes, Angry!  I don’t know if its righteous indignation or not, but I confess it is anger that courses through my mind.  How dare she!

Of course, she said that in an interview with Rachel (Mad Cow) Maddow and the two leftists enjoyed a night of Trump bashing.  Her argument was largely based on her assertion that Illegals commit far fewer crimes at a far lower rate than native-born Americans.  I’m not sure how she calculates her statistics but if you consider there are millions more native-born Americans than Illegals you immediately see her argument crumble.  Then she went into her diatribe and attempted to spin the spin of the moral issue of ‘women and children’ simply trying to gain refuge from their oppressive lands.  She claimed they are acting more American than any person trying to keep them out will ever be.  Sorry, ACO you are missing the entire picture not just the big picture.

She then went into her chant and rant that Trump has a long history of being a racist and claimed, without documentation or evidence, that he has a “proven track record of discrimination against anybody who’s really non-white.”  She then regurgitated the staple of the Left that Trump is dysfunctional and that causes Americans to feel unsafe.  I hate to break it to you ma’am, but I feel safer with him as president than I did under your Star, Barack Obama.  He is trying to secure our borders something that the Democrats have claimed to support in the past but resist now. 

She didn’t stop there as she continued the Democrat attack on the Border Patrol and ICE. claiming that they were agencies guilty of systematically violating human rights.  What about the human rights of American citizens?  Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot for the Leftists American citizens, other than them have no human rights.  Apparently with her claim that Illegals are more American than many of us, maybe she doesn’t consider us human.

Nancy Pelosi in her attempt to rebut the President’s speech claimed that Trump was ‘manufacturing a crisis’ at the border.  But, when her claims are fact-checked we find that she spoke with forked tongue again and got it wrong.  If you examine and research the crimes committed at the southern border you find some amazing facts and facts that should alarm you.  We have evidence of drug cartel warfare, drug trafficking is epidemic, asylum fraud is being perpetrated at an alarming rate, numerous deaths have occurred and the skyrocketing cost to the American taxpayer is alarming.

The President got it right when he claimed that during the past two years ICE. officers have made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records.  Does that disturb you?  It does me!  Those arrested included people charged or convicted of crimes.  There were 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent murders.  Does that not scream – Secure the Border Now?  It does to me!

In 2018 alone ICE agents arrested more than 6,600 convicted murderers and sex offenders.  But, according to the Democrats, this is a manufactured crisis and not real.  Tell that to the people who were victims of those criminals and crimes.  Of that number 4,975 were convicted sex offenders.  Hey, Nancy, and Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, I’m sure you want to invite them to your homes, right?  NO, YOU DO NOT!    Let me add, I do not want you to do that either.  I don’t want you or any American harmed by Illegals or anyone but preventing harm by Illegals is a fixable problem.  The other 1,641 had been convicted of homicides.  But, they are just women and children trying to come here for safety and sanctuary, right?  Facts don’t lie.  There are women and children but there are a significant number of the other kind too and we must deal with everyone and secure the border.   There were another 1,913 illegals with pending sex charges against them and 387 with pending murder charges.  This is not a bunch of Sunday School children. 

Many are sick and bringing in communicable diseases, some of which we eradicated in the United States decades ago.  But, alas, we must open the doors and welcome anyone and everyone regardless of their condition or mindset, according to the Democrats.  I voted no in 2016, 2018, and vote no now on that position.  Drug overdoses in 2017 took the lives of 72,287 American residents, that is almost three times the number killed by global terrorism.  The cartels have raked in billions of dollars in the process and they care not one wit about American or any lives.  Since 2009 there have been a quarter of a million homicides in Mexico and about 30,000 disappearances.  However, we do not know how many others simply disappeared at the hands of the drug lords and gangs, so the real numbers are worse than what I have stated.

Dare we ignore the valid reports that 1-in-3 migrant women or sexually assaulted or raped during their journey to the United States.  The increase in applications for asylum is alarming.  The rise is rooted in our faulty asylum policies because anyone claiming “credible fear” has about an 88% likelihood to avoid deportation.  Therefore, when you get to the border immediately begin claiming ‘fear’ if deported.  That is a get out of jail free card that is too freely given and used.  The statistics and facts reveal that only about 10% of those claiming “credible fear” have a legitimate claim. 

We cannot afford to allow this crisis to continue.  We cannot afford with regard to national security, safety, and health of American citizens, or economically.  The cost on every front is too high to ignore this crisis and I applaud the President for standing his ground, unlike his Republican predecessors.  To all the Democrats and Never Trump advocates who claim this is not a problem, I suggest you honestly examine the facts, not the faux facts presented by the Leftist.  Check with those actually dealing with the problem and you will discover it is a problem and one of incredible seriousness.

Those healing hands we hear about seem to have lost their healing touch in today’s American politics and much of our society.  The increasing divide is increasing at an alarming rate and the partisan ideological divide is becoming an impassable chasm that no man can span.  That is or should be, alarming and disconcerting to every American citizen regardless of political persuasion.

There have been pockets of detractors and haters in most of the presidents of my lifetime, but the overflow of hate that exists today defies the saying, “Time heals all wounds.”  How much time will be required to overcome the bitterness and animosity that has been birthed by those who despise this current president?  I’m not sure there is enough time and as with most infections, if allowed to spread and continue often results in death.  The infection becomes gangrene and the necrosis produces incredible pain and destruction leading to loss of limb or death.  That’s what the toxicity of liberalism is producing in the so-called resistance movements and parlaying of political power by the Democrats.

The Republicans are not immune and have not been inoculated against the disease of hate and partisan ideological blindness, so this is a warning to all Americans.  I have never witnessed the overt use of the media platform, Hollywood, and outside influences and bankrolling of activism as we are seeing today.  There was animosity toward Barack Obama, and I was deeply disturbed and detested much of his agenda, but I did not see the incessant and undisguised attempt to overthrow him as I witness today. 

The hatred for Donald John Trump the 45^th President of these United States is of such gargantuan size and scope it is a genuine threat to our Republican system of Government as the Constitutional Republic.  If the Left is successful in ousting this President, the precedent will be established for all future administrations.  We will have seen our Republic transformed into the governmental system of other nations where coalition governments are formed on unstable agreements and frequently collapse requiring new elections.  We will have effectively tossed out our process of electing Presidents and that could easily seep into every elected office in our nation. 

Some people have such an enormous capacity to hate and hold grudges that they become embittered to the point that they are unable to focus on anything but the object of their disgust.  That seems to be the case with many on the Left in today’s political world.  When T.V. show hosts can argue that any Republican Legislator that does not speak badly of President Trump should be faced with prison time, we have lost our collective minds and all sense of reason and decency nationally.  When, those who are comics or actors can call for the beheading, sodomizing, and rape of the President and/or his family, the infection of hate has the putrid stench of gangrene and is destroying all hope of restoration.

Hate and political differences have brought about the assignation of presidents in America and that is tragic beyond words.  The fact that we claim to be a civilized society operating under a system of government that is a Representative Democracy or a Constitutional Republic and allows this, defies our claims of civility.  The appetite of persons in Congress, the Media, Hollywood, and various Activist Organizations for incivility are or should be warning signs of a cancerous political condition that will destroy us if allowed to continue.  We need the Healing Hands of Time to begin working its magic.

The Bible speaks of allowing a ‘root of bitterness’ to spring up in our hearts.  The warning and appeal are that we pursue peace with all men and righteousness.  We are urged to fight against allowing hate, envy, jealousy, and discord to fester to the point of infecting us with bitterness.  It speaks of bitterness as a root and in the natural a root produces a plant that produces a fruit and the fruit of bitterness is chaos, discord, hate, violence, and even murder.  It is irreconcilable and never placated.  It demands vengeance and its pound of flesh.  It believes that it has been deprived of what is rightfully his and demands its own brand of justice. 

Generational Racism and Hate are produced from a root of bitterness and the longer it continues the more embedded it becomes in the heart and society.  In politics roots of bitterness produce such division that there is no room for reason in the discussion. The object of hate and that which stands in the way of an ideological position’s ascension to power becomes the total focus.  In that condition, the infection of hate is so pronounced that time only makes it worse, not better.  It never ends well.

What can we do?  You may or may not agree but the first step is to return to God and our moral moorings as a society and as individuals.  In the Bible, we find the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 informs us that if we would repent, seek God’s face, pray, and turn from our wickedness God would heal our land and restore us.  It is my firm conviction that we need a spiritual revival in America.  But, even if you reject the religious aspect of my position surely you would agree that allowing hate to boil over into violence is not the answer. 

It is therefore imperative that you and I strive to impress upon our elected officials the need for civility and reason.  I did not say compromise or abandoning our principles and foundational beliefs.  I said, civility and seeking to find some common ground that would not violate the aforementioned but would allow us to diffuse the bitterness and prevent the infectious gangrene from ripping us to shreds.

We are rapidly reaching a condition where if we fail to elect people to positions of government, at all levels, who will honestly pursue what is best not what is partisan we will see our nation perish.  I know that is doom and gloom, but I believe it is a present reality.  We are rapidly approaching a time where the political party must be secondary to what is prudent in the best interest of the Republic. 

The present condition of our political world makes it impossible for me to vote for a Democrat because of the ideological shift to socialism and globalism.  The positions on abortion, same-sex marriage, our inalienable rights, and freedoms pushes me to the Republican camp.  Do those politicians always follow pathways that protect, preserve, and defend our constitution and fight for Faith, Family, and Freedom?  No, and that breaks my heart but in my continued push for Constitutional Restoration of America, I have little choice.

You must decide what is best for you and we must all strive to allow healing to come to our hearts and refuse to allow the ‘root of bitterness’ to spring up and the fruit thereof to defile others and our nation.

The blatant hypocrisy and evil vitriol of the Leftists are more than disturbing it is frightening.  It is frightening because there are millions who listen to them and assume that because one is in the media, Hollywood, successful in business, or elected to Congress they are all knowing.  THEY ARE NOT!  The Muslim Democrat from Michigan, Rashida Tlaib’s profanity-laced rant about Donald Trump should be censored by Congress but since she is a Democrat, a Muslim, and of lesser importance to them, a woman, she will receive praise not censor.  That is disturbing for me and should be for everyone in America who loves freedom.

            Her promise was, “We’re gonna impeach the ***********.”  No, I won’t include her word in my comments, but it is incredibly vile.  Hey, Democrats if Donald Trump is deemed to be crude, caustic, vile, offensive, and a potty mouth, what about this woman?  Do you applaud her or find her words disgusting and divisive?  I know some Democrats who have vehemently attacked President Trump for his language who find this woman worthy of some national honor.  Their double-standard and hypocrisy demanded me call them out.  Their defense was, well she is not the President.  Really?  If she killed someone, would that be okay because she is not the President?  If she colluded with the Russians or Islamic Terrorists and caused the death of Americans would that be okay because she is not the President?  Surely, you cannot be serious!

This plan and intent of the Democrats to Impeach the President before the 2020 elections is a clear example of placing partisan gamesmanship ahead of country.  This is a direct threat to our system of government and our national security.  This is worse than a frivolous lawsuit, it borders on insanity and places our Republic in grave danger both from without and within.  Democrats, is that really what you want your part to be all about?  Is stopping Trump your prime objective?  Was that truly what you believe you were elected to do?  Is that what you truly believe the Constitution charges you to do?  If so, we are in the worst constitutional crisis of our lifetime.

After two years of digging, prodding, and even attempting to manufacture evidence, there is no evidence that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians to interfere or change the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.  There is evidence that Hillary Clinton, the Clinton Campaign, the DNC, and even the FBI and other governmental agencies did all they could to interfere, illegally with the election.  The Steele dossier was the Clinton Insurance Policy in case she lost, which she did.  It was supposed to guarantee that she did not lose, and it failed.  The simple facts are, Donald Trump won in enough states with enough electoral votes to defeat the terrible Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.  She may have felt entitled and the Left may have felt it was a slam dunk, but SHE LOST!  Get over it and focus on 2020 not a bogus attempt to impeach a legitimate sitting president.

Representative Brad Sherman, (D-CA) is reintroducing articles of impeachment for obstruction of justice against the president.  What obstruction?  He fired James Comey as Director of the FBI something that is within the scope of his authority as the chief executive of the Republic.  They are still counting on something in the Mueller Report to give them a basis to proceed regardless of how feeble or factual it might be.  Reports are that Robert Mueller will submit his report to the Attorney General by mid-February and if that is accurate the Democrats will be hell-bent on destruction shortly thereafter.

The firing of the FBI Director is not obstruction of justice without some incredible nefarious actions included and evidence to support such a charge.  There does not appear to be any of that, else there would have been leaks or attempts to indict or empower the Democrats and sway Republicans to proceed with impeachment hoping to then convict him in the Senate. 

Andy McCarthy of National Review released a statement that Mueller does not have a case but is investigating trying to find something.  In short, it shows me the man and I’ll find the crime rather than show me the crime and I’ll investigate to see where it leads.  That is a perversion of justice if not obstruction.  William Barr the nominee for Attorney General sent Deputy Rod Rosenstein a memo last June regarding this matter of the firing of James Comey. 

McCarthy said: “If the public reports of Mueller’s theory of obstruction are true, then that obstruction theory is not viable under federal law because it’s an extravagant extension of it. What it would say is that instead of obstruction, which are things like tampering with witnesses, tampering with evidence, destroying evidence, things that are innately corrupt, evil acts taken to undermine a proceeding, Mueller’s theory would apply to any act of the President, even legitimate exercises of his constitutional prerogatives even if a prosecutor decides that they were politically motivated. And what Barr says, and I think he’s correct about this, is that is not a viable extension or expansion of the obstruction statute.”

What we have is a political party, the Democrats, willing to stretch the law or rewrite existing law and reinterpret the Constitution to fit their agenda rather than following the rule of law and the constitution.  That is tragic and would be equally tragic if the Republicans had done the same thing.  That is not the American design by our Founding Fathers and should not be tolerated by the American voters.  This has been far from a blind search for truth, it has been a devoted and dogged effort to find something or anything to use against the man the Left despises to the point they would destroy the Republic to hurt or dethrone him.

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz weighed in on this matter and correctly stated: “The framers of the Constitution were very careful not to allow a president to be removed based on political differences…They specified that a president could be removed only if he committed crimes such as bribery, treason or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Nothing that’s come out publicly, at least so far, fits those very, very specific categorizations.”  What is happening, in my opinion, is the willingness and desire of the Democrats to use impeachment rather than elections.  That is not what our system of government was designed to do or be.  WE MUST RESIST!

The vile language, the calls for violence, the inappropriate and destructive language, and the endangering of America and Americans by the Left is what should be on trial not some bogus charges against this president.  Why the Republicans allowed this to continue leads one to believe that many of them are in agreement with the Democrats and want Trump Gone!  That will not bode well in 2020 and if we are to Free the Republic from would be Oligarchs and an Oligarchical Tyranny we must join forces in 2020 and defeat every Democrat and Republican that does not put America first and demonstrate a willingness to follow the Rule of Law and protect and defend the Constitution.

Disagree with me if you please and even hate me if you choose but consider what is at stake and how disruptive the path we are now on that the Democrats are advancing, and I do not believe you can honestly say it is what we need.  If you love America and stand for Faith, Family, and Freedom I ask you to pray earnestly for our nation and vote!

Sedition is defined as overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that tends toward insurrection against the established order.  Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent towards or resistance against established authority.  Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws.  Seditious words in writing are seditious libel.  Sedition, typically, is considered a subversive act, and the overt acts that may be and should be prosecutable under sedition laws which vary from one legal code to another. 

            Seditious conspiracy  (18 U.S.C. § 2384) is a crime under United States law. It is stated as follows:

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

      Inciting of riots is also illegal (18 U.S. Code § 2102) is defined as follows: 

•  As used in this chapter, the term “riot” means a public disturbance involving (1) an act or acts of violence by one or more persons part of an assemblage of three or more persons, which act or acts shall constitute a clear and present danger of, or shall result in, damage or injury to the property of any other person or to the person of any other individual or (2) a threat or threats of the commission of an act or acts of violence by one or more persons part of an assemblage of three or more persons having, individually or collectively, the ability of immediate execution of such threat or threats, where the performance of the threatened act or acts of violence would constitute a clear and present danger of, or would result in, damage or injury to the property of any other person or to the person of any other individual.

• As used in this chapter, the term “to incite a riot”, or “to organize, promote, encourage, participate in, or carry on a riot”, includes, but is not limited to, urging or instigating other persons to riot, but shall not be deemed to mean the mere oral or written (1) advocacy of ideas or (2) expression of belief, not involving advocacy of any act or acts of violence or assertion of the rightness of, or the right to commit, any such act or acts.

Today we have various Democrats and various Liberal Leftists Operatives calling for an escalation of incivility and violence against Republicans, Conservatives, and those supporting the Constitution and the Rule of Law.  We have long been aware of the maniacal and deranged calls by Maxine Waters for violence.  We have had a steady supply of people like Kathy Griffin, Robert De Niro, Snoop Dogg, Mickey Rourke, Larry Wilmore, George Lopez, Rosie O’Donnell, Johnny Depp, Anthony Bourdain, and a myriad of others all calling for harm to the president or his family.  We have college professors calling for killing or harming white people especially white men such as Texas A&M associate professor of philosophy, Tommy Curry wrote in an article entitled, “When Is It OK to Kill Whites?”  He said, “In order to be equal, in order to be liberated, some white people might have to die.”  Those are just a few people in places of influence calling for violence.  These are all leftists, and all seem to ignore and possibly believe they are immune from prosecution.  Are they?  I hope not because if we allow this kind of rhetoric, sedition, and the inciting of riotous behavior to continue There Will Be Violence!

We are facing the most critical elections in our nation’s history this November.  What we do or do not do will determine the direction and possibly the future of our Republic.  We dare not believe that their calls for hate, violence, and the destruction of our inalienable rights will subside if they win, It Will Not!  We dare not become complacent and say, as I have heard some say, “Politics has become so ugly, I am no longer going to participate.”  That is exactly what they hope, that we give up and throw in the towel.  We dare not do that, we are fighting for Freedom and the preservation of our Constitutional Republic.  A Republic and system of government that has served us well for over 240 years.

You may not like the president and consider him boorish and uncouth, but I plead with you to set aside your personal dislikes and realize what is at stake.  Check the voting records of the Democrats running for office and you will realize they are in lock-step with the Democrat Establishment in DC.  If you want to see America return to being, a government of the people, for the people, and by the people, it is imperative that you vote and vote no on the Leftists and pressure your elected official to honor America and protect and defend our Constitution.

I would hope that every American patriot would say, Amen, (so be it).   One of the things that give me cause for hope is the Trump nominee for Attorney General and the federal judge that has stated there needs to be a reopening the Hillary Clinton email investigation.  The latter has to come as a severe blow to the Clinton camp and the Democrats.  Of course, we will hear that this is nothing more than a partisan activist judge making this ruling.  That is in contrast with the silence of the left when Obama judges rule against President Trump. In those cases, the Democrats and MSM insist the judge is just following the rule of law and the constitution.  Interesting how that works, isn’t it?

U.S. District Judge, Royce Lambert said that the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act required such action.  He said that despite the government’s claimed presumption of transparency, “faced with one of the gravest modern offenses to government openness, [the Obama administration’s] State and Justice Departments fell far short” of the law’s requirements in a lawsuit for documents.  But, couldn’t they do whatever they wanted, and should we question their insistence that no wrongdoing had transpired?  After all, to question Mr. Obama is to be racist and to question Hillary is to be sexist, right?  That’s how they view it.  Thankfully, we have finally found a judge that doesn’t see it that way.

I like his words, “fell far short” because it is, in my view, and the view of many others, a mountainous understatement.  Obama claimed that his administration was the most transparent in history or would be.  We discovered over his eight years in the White House that ‘transparency’ meant telling us what he wanted us to know and nothing else.  Transparency to him and his administration seems to mean about the same as Bill Clinton’s definition of “is”.  It is virtually like a preacher saying, “I’m closing now” and then continues to speak for another ten or more minutes.

Judicial Watch filed its Freedom of Information Act lawsuit in July 2014 seeking to force the State Department documentation and talking points on the September 2012 attacks on the U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, that left the U.S. ambassador and others dead be released.  The suit began before the revelation that Hillary had used a private email account and server while serving as Secretary of State.  The State Department attempted to ignore, side-step, and do an end-run around the request.  They claimed that additional searches would be required and failed to disclose that they had received 30,000 emails returned by Clinton.  They lied and ignored the legal request for information.

The Judge declared that the government’s actions reflected “negligence born of incompetence.”  He stated also that “At worst, career employees in the State and Justice departments collude to scuttle public scrutiny of Clinton, skirted FOIA, and hoodwinked the court.”  That is a powerful statement from this judge.  We know that Hillary used a private email server and email account was to keep the prying eyes of Congress out of her business as Secretary of State.  She and Obama believed that they could do whatever they pleased and were entitled to do so. 

The State Department could not be expected to give to Congress what it did not possess.  She had them and they had not gone through official channels.  Her supposed out was that she was not conducting official business, but we know she was.  She contended that she sent nothing of a classified nature via private emails, but we know she did.  She contended that there was no exposure or danger regarding our national security, but there was.  It was illegal and deserved further investigation, but it was swept under the rug.  Former FBI Director, James Comey initially called it ‘gross negligence’ but that was changed to be ‘extreme carelessness’ to protect Hillary.  He even admitted that she and some of her associates lied to the FBI.  We know that they attempted to destroy the server and other devices.  All clear evidence of an attempt to cover-up the wrongdoing. 

The fight over William Barr, the George H.W. Bush-era leader of the Justice Department being nominated as the next Attorney General by President Trump.  What are his crimes?  He has spoken favorably of President Trump.  That is a mortal sin to the Democrats and the Media.  Nancy Pelosi has chimed into this imbroglio saying his nomination is “deeply concerning.”  She added, “Barr has spent the past two years auditioning for the job by stoking partisan attacks on our nation’s law enforcement community and encouraging the President to use the Justice Department as a political weapon to pursue his rivals and undermine investigations into Trump and his family’s scandals.”  Sounds like what Obama did, but that was okay, right?  Senator Diane Feinstein could not resist offering her criticism saying that Barr holds, “expansive views of executive power and his partisan statements about pardons, the Mueller investigation, and Hillary Clinton.”  Touch their golden goose and you are unqualified.

Chuck Schumer promised a lengthy and difficult fight in the confirmation hearings.  What else would we expect to happen?  After the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, we should have been alerted to the intent and plan of the Democrats in every confirmation hearing from that point forward.  They do not like Whitaker, the acting AG and no one other than a liberal activist would please them.  I say, “Atta Boy, Mr. President.”  If this man is confirmed, I am encouraged that the DOJ may finally take a stand in favor of the Constitution and insist on the Rule of Law.  He may not be what he appears but if he is, I am encouraged.

I take these small happenings as encouragements and pray that the Republicans in Congress, especially the Senate will get with the program and back this President.  If they do, we could reclaim the House, keep the Senate, and the White House in 2020.  Much water will flow under the bridge between now and then, so it is imperative that each of us invest ourselves in the Fight for Faith, Family, and Freedom.

Today is January 1, 2019.  It is difficult for me to fathom that we have reached 2019.  When I was a senior in high school and looking forward in time, I could not fathom the year 2000 much less 19 years beyond that date.  I was struggling with the reality of the Vietnam War and the probability that I would find myself there.  The draft was in full bloom and I had watched numerous of those graduating ahead of me receive their draft notices and many of them were hustled to that far land.  It seemed more than a probability but a likelihood that I too would see a land that I knew nothing about and fight a war that I hardly knew why it was being fought.

As fate or life would have it, I did go to Vietnam and spent a year in that country.  I served my tour of duty and returned to San Francisco, California and heard and felt the hate of students from the University of Berkley.  I was incensed at their insensitivity to those men who were being transported in wheelchairs and on stretchers.  We were not, as they called us, baby killers. We were not, as they labeled us, warmongers.  We were young men serving our country in the best way we knew.  We were ordered to that war and went out of a sense of duty and love for our country. 

What will we see in the upcoming year?  With the Democrats now having control of the House of Representatives and their avowed determination to investigate, investigate, investigate rather than legislate it will likely be ugly.  We have a growing economy and if both sides would get together setting aside partisan ideological differences we could see even more national prosperity.  In today’s American politics it seems that Democrats and Republicans fit the saying, “East is East, and West is West and never the twain shall meet.” 

We could look forward to progress toward becoming One Nation Under God, that pursues liberty and justice for all.  We could see healing begin in the many areas we are divided.  I wish I could tell you with absolute certainty that this year will see a return to foundational constitutional principles being observed in Washington, but I do not believe that will be the case.  I believe that this president is purposed in keeping his promises to the voters and Congress is equally purposed in hindering his ability to do so.  We endured eight years of the push to ‘fundamentally transform’ our nation.  We have a president that has shown the willingness to stand firm in pursuing his promises, unlike previous Republican Presidents. 

Those of us who desire limited government, the guarantee of those unalienable rights granted to us by God and the preserved in the Constitution and a Constitutional Republic are viewed by those on the Left as members of the ‘Flat Earth Society.’  Will we see a de-escalation of the chaos, protests, and resistance by those on the Left or will we see an escalation?  Will we see the wedge that has been driven between classes and races begin healing or will we see further divide?  Will we see corruption exposed and justice return to being blind treating both Republicans and Democrats alike?  Will we see the Intelligence Community continue to strive to undermine this President or will we see a restoration of integrity to those agencies?  Will we see our border secured or will the Democrats succeed in eliminating it?  Will we see continued victory against Terrorism especially Islamic Terrorism or will those on the Left succeed in impeding our military’s ability to do their jobs? 

I am not as optimistic about 2019 as I would like to be.  My optimism waned a bit in the loss of the House during the mid-term elections.  Too many of the Republicans in the House and even the Senate seem to either be afraid of the Democrats are they agree with them.  The latter is as likely as the former because the politicians on both sides of the aisle desire Big Government and fight ferociously to keep their position and place of power.  I sometimes wonder if we truly have two different parties or if they are largely the same with a few differences, but nothing substantial.  How can we fix that?  I’m not sure that is possible until 2020 and even then, it is questionable for some districts and states seem intent on sending Anti-Constitutionalist back to Washington term after term.  We can, as individuals and grass-roots organizations take steps to influence the precinct conventions and thereby the State and National platforms, but it will take incredible effort and resilience. Are we up to the task?  That remains to be seen.

Now that I’ve thrown down the gauntlet, what am I going to do personally?  Am I going to speak and write about what we should do while sitting on the sideline or am I going to get my feet wet, hands dirty and dive into the dirty water of the political arena locally?  If I do not dive in I guess I should stop speaking and writing for that would appear to be hypocritical and reactionary rather than proactive.  I see inactivity as perpetuating the problem rather than pursuing the solution. Therefore, I am researching how to become involved locally at the precinct level.  I do not feel that my purpose is to be a candidate for political office but to have a voice in platform and choice of candidates. 

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “I have a dream…”  Well, I have a dream of a restored revitalized constitutional republic in America.  Is it possible?  I cannot say definitively that it is, but I refuse to be deterred from my belief that it is and my willingness to invest all to ensure it.  That is my commitment for 2019 and 2020.  If we fail in 2020 I will have to reevaluate what I am doing and consider the steps needed for survival and the fight.  I am not saying I will throw in the towel if we fail in 2020 rather that we may be forced into survival modes for those desiring our destruction will become fully emboldened and will cast aside all restraint.  I realize that we may never reach the 2020 elections before full-scale chaos become a reality, but I am preparing as though we will.

Obviously, I cannot answer that question with absolute certainty on most things, but there are a few possibilities that I believe are virtual certainties.  Before I get into them I feel the need to express my love for this nation.  I served in Vietnam in 1967 and watched the hatred, abuse, and disrespect a very large segment of this country heaped on my fellow veterans.  Even in the face of the ridicule and name calling, we looked past the haters to the Republic and proudly declared and declare that we served under the American Flag for the cause of Freedom.  No, I am not trying to defend or criticize the war but those of us who served did not deserve the abuse hurled at us.  Nor, is the current president of the United States deserving of the vitriolic hate being spawned by the media, the Left, Hollywood, and the activist.  The office of President should never be treated with such utter contempt. 

I was not and am not a fan of the former president Barack Obama.  His policies were, in my view, detrimental to the advancement and progress of our nation.  His personality was grating, at times, because of his arrogance and refusal to admit wrong, culpability, or responsibility for the failures we endured.  His smugness and open defense of what has been called Islam and even what he called radical Islam while talking down Christianity troubled me. 

His world apology tour decrying American Exceptionalism was like waving a red flag in front of a bull.  When he attempted to bypass the Congress, the Courts, and the Constitution using Executive Fiats it caused me to fear for my nation.  However, he was the duly elected president and I respected that office.  Yes, I criticized his actions and wanted Congress to throw up roadblocks to his policies that were dangerous to our System of Government.  But if we allow our concerns or even dislikes for the individual tarnish our respect for the office, we do great damage to our Republic.

Now that I’ve had my rant, let’s look into the future and see what 2019 might bring us.  In the realm of politics, I can guarantee that the Democrats will pursue and dogged path of Investigate, Investigate, Investigate rather than Legislate, Legislate, Legislate.  However, they will attempt to pass bills and coerce the Republicans to comply that will further the ‘fundamental transformation’ of the Obama administration.  Their base is demanding impeachment.  Their base is demanding destruction.  Their base is demanding indictments.  They will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit and we will see two long years of legislative chaos and probably abuse from some governmental agencies under their control. 

Will that be good for the country?  Will, it set a precedent that will endanger all future presidencies?  Quite possibly because when one side of an issue becomes vicious and determined to inflict as much harm to the other as possible it creates an environment of revenge and retaliation.  Politically, if one political party engages in what I expect from the Democrats in Congress, the Republicans may seek their pound of flesh if or when they regain power.  That is not good for America that is not good for Freedom.  My concern is that this is the new norm in Washington and the madness advanced by the Media will make politics a battlefield and strip Congress of its ability to govern.

I am also certain that we will see an escalation of problems along our southern border.  We will see a renewed push for amnesty and the awarding of citizenship to illegals. There will be court case after court case challenging every action that this president takes.  There will be a virtual witch hunt into Justice Brett Kavanaugh trying to impeach him.  There will be attempts to block funding for President Trump’s agenda and measures.   There will be political gamesmanship in the Senate attempting to block every judicial appointment.  There will be muckraking and attempts to damage this president in the public view hoping to sway the Independents and Undecided Voters to come over to the Liberal Leftists Socialist side of the aisle and defeat him in 2020 should he run again.

What we need is for both political parties to sit down and discuss issues based on substance, not emotion or partisanship.  We need for both political parties to put America and Americans ahead of their political ambitions or their party’s ascension to power.  Will that happen?  It hasn’t in a very long time and I do not anticipate it in 2019 or 2020.  However, we serve a big God who can move on the hearts of men and women and allow or engineer situations that can cause them to have an epiphany and wake up.  That is my prayer.  It is too late to elect people who will follow the Constitution, the elections are over.  However, it is not too late to apply pressure to every elected official and keep the pressure on.  If we do not become involved, we will lose our Republic and our Freedom.

As the New Year unfolds, it is my hope and prayer that each of you who read this, and all Americans find peace in their hearts and enjoy prosperity.  We have an immeasurable treasure in what our Founding Fathers and the Framers of our American Constitution gave us.  We have a Constitutional Republic and a system of government unlike any in the world.  It has served us well for over 240 years and can serve us into perpetuity, but it must be diligently guarded and defended.  Ronald Reagan had it right when he said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream.  It must be fought for, protected, and handed on to them to do the same.”  Benjamin Franklin’s response to the question about what kind of government they had produced is apropos today.  He said, “A Republic if you can keep it.”
